News / Is there anything Poland won't do for money? "Wolf's Lair" - up for rent" [59]

Claus von Stauffenberg tried to assassinate Hitler

somebody's been watchin Tom Cruise's movie lol.
dude there were 17 assassination attempts on Hitler between 39-45, members.iinet.net.au/~gduncan/assassination_attempts.html

& you do know that von Stauffenberg only wanted to kill Hitler so that they could surrender to the Allies before the Ruskies kicked Nazi ass? von Stauffenberg was a Nazi, he was no hero no matter what the king of Scientology would have you believe :P

News / Is there anything Poland won't do for money? "Wolf's Lair" - up for rent" [59]

profiting from Auschwitz visitors every year

there's no entry fee so don't see how they profit from that.

there is something wrong with yo

Grzegorz, your posts are always so warm and friendly. You're a credit to your nation.

I don't get it, I really don't. But you all have some interesting theories (except old Greggy) and each to their own. The only reason I could see for anyone to go there would be to dose the place in petrol and burn motherf€cker burn, I don't see how turning it into a museum will benefit anyone, unlike Oswiecim, or other camps, which were restored to pay tribute to those that suffered. I see no historical value in preserving a place where the scum of the earth ran their war campaign.

News / Is there anything Poland won't do for money? "Wolf's Lair" - up for rent" [59]

I had to laugh at this articles I seen on a news website.
Apparently,
"POLAND HAS PUT an infamous Nazi war base - Adolf Hitler's so-called "Wolf's Lair" - up for rent"

thejournal.ie/poland-puts-hitlers-bunker-up-for-rent-331479-Jan2012/

Yea, soon you'll be able to rent out Hitler's old war base........
WTF is wrong with some people?

While we should always remember those who were sacrificed and those who sacrificed themselves for our freedom in the 2nd World War, I really don't see the point of turning this place into a tourist "attraction". You didn't see the German's turning Hitler's bunker into an attraction so why does Poland want to restore his old War Lair? I really cannot understand it, unless you want a f€ckin Mecca for all the shinheads.

Work / Polish Public Schools hiring English teachers [9]

I manage okay

yea i did a kindergarten for a few weeks and got the hell outta there before I signed a contract. I learned a valuable lesson tho, teaching kids is not for me. I can handle a room of moody teenagers coz I remember what it was like being a moody teenager, but i just don't get them....and trying to teach kids that can't read & write.

When they told me the kids in the school couldn't read I asked them was it a special needs school, they said no and it was normal that kids that age can't read! I nearly dropped, couldn't believe it.

I wasn't trained to teach kids that can't read or write and I couldn't be arsed learning how to now when I've enough easier students to keep me busy.

Work / Polish Public Schools hiring English teachers [9]

Come on, I teach 6/7 year olds every day...

yea, 6 & 7 yr olds that cannot write, I started school at 4 and was taught to write straight away :P
Impossible to teach kids that age in Poland unless you can speak Polish that was my point.

Always demand for private lessons tho.....kids wanting to pass matura will always want privates

But you're dead right about living in the countryside. I'd move into a town or city till you learn the lingo anti, and then you can get another job out in the country.

Work / Polish Public Schools hiring English teachers [9]

I wouldn't do that if i were you, money is terrible and it'll be difficult to teach kids that will have a terrible level of English. Plus in a language school most kids actually want to learn, public school they're just there coz they have to be. Move into the local town/city and get a better job there..........or else just do private lessons in the locality.

Life / Why is circumcision not practiced in Poland? [701]

it's genital mutilation, simple as. It has no health benefits whatsoever so it's a pointless procedure, therefore it's genital mutilation. It should be banned, but that won't happen, because it's a jewish practice and we're not allowed criticise anyone for believing in a bullshit religion whether it's a vengeful jewish yahweh, the hippy christ, the mad lookin elephant thing or the bearded mohammed who married a teenage girl.

Law / Opening a Polish Bank Account by a foreigner in Poland. Recommendations. [299]

You'll need some ID, passport...something with you're address, so you'll need the temporary residency thingy, I don't remember but you'll prob need your PESEL number too. Best to bring all the pieces of paper you've collected since moving to Poland.

That should be it. If you're going to set up a business acc you'll need your NIP number too

I've heard mBank is good but I went old skool and with PKO, mBank have f*ck all ATM's and they all charge you 5zl if you use an ATM that isn't the same bank as you're bank account. Also most banks charge you when putting money in your account. Don't know why, it's a bit weird, maybe its the norm on the continent.

PKO have always been good for me tho, anytime I've called them they've always had an English speaker on hand to speak to me when my Polish desends into goobledigook.

News / John Paul II's Beatification [134]

I am a John Paul II Sister from Australia (mg.org.au). I have given up everything to follow Christ in the footsteps of John Paul II

then you have wasted your life.
we all know that he helped cover up paedophilia and he did nothing to help AIDS victim in Africa.

Life / Getting pretty tired of the postal service here in Poland [58]

Yea Harry lad, I've had a few things get lost in the Post magically as soon as they left Ireland, bullshit, I thin it's coz they see a foreign name on the pack and they think it'll be full of goodies or something.....since then I just get everything addressed to the missus.

Life / Boys acting and dressing feminine, girls acting and dressing masculine - transgender teens in Poland [272]

Far from being a hater

well then I apologise profusely, I've come to expect the worst here on PL and when I saw the thread I had wrongly assumed that you were gonna go on a rant about how they're heathens and etc.

To be serious then, I'm not sure if any one influence is to blame, I do honestly think it's something people are born with and now in some countries, at least, society is open enough to tolerate it. I don't see it in Poland, I had some gay Polish friends in Ireland and they told me many times they'd never move back here because of the intolerance and ignorance shown to them. Can't blame them, there's a huge amount of homophobia here.

But i've nothing against boys having an effeminate disposition and the same for girls.

But then again, I live in Katowice and not in trendy *ahem* Warsaw :P

Life / Sexual culture in Poland [66]

Polish girls like buttsex, which is great, but many of them have mad hairy bushes which isn't so great.

But not a lot of people are open about sex in Poland, they'd rather talk about their bowel movements than their loin movements

Wasn't that the slogan of Fianna Fail.....yea man, well done, coz Fianna Fail aren't half to blame for the mess that the Irish economy are in now.

Gaelic and free some day

buachaill, an bhfuild ann Gaeilge agat? Ní dóigh liom go bhfuil clue agat ar bit.
Dún do bhéal agus feisigh do thóin féin.

I'm delighted to know that everyone here knows that you do not represent the full blooded Irish people of Ireland.
Have a nice St Patrick's I hope you lighten up and quit being a keyboard warrior.

well done lads, way to spread the Patrick's Day good spirit.
Quit trolling if ye have nothing good to say, as you can see this thread is for Irish ex-pats looking to enjoy Patrick's Day since they can't spend it at home.
