Off-Topic / Polish Misunderstanding of American Terminology [47]

I didn't comment on that fragment in which you mentioned "NATO governments"

You can't take one sentence out of context and attack it. Read on.
No matter how many times you Rinse & Repeat you aren't going to change the facts to your favor.
Read on into the next sentence and it will, As I wrote already Hon.
The calls by "NATO governments" for direct intervention
And it doesn't matter how many times I explain that to you in plain English you still will disagree.
Now get lost

Off-Topic / Polish Misunderstanding of American Terminology [47]

Words have many connotations in America that are foreign to Poland.

Remember the other day when the word shot was used for the word vaccine and the Eurps had a meltdown because they had never heard of that terminology before.

Shot = vaccine
shot = shooting a gun
shot = being burned out
shot = the load in a shotgun shell
shot = unusable
shot = someone being killed or wounded by a gun
shot =
Us Yanks have many meanings for one word that you Eurps may not have heard of over der across da pond.
Listen and learn.

People who know nothing about Poland should spend less time on internet forums

It behooves us all to show a little common courtesy

Your contribution is dully noted.

Most languages have hidden terminologies which are meant only to be understood by native speakers.

Excellent answer.
Non-native speakers should not try to diminish American native speakers and expect them to speak their lingo.

Off-Topic / Polish Misunderstanding of American Terminology [47]

I have noticed here on the P.F. that Polish members are not familiar with a lot of American vocabulary.
Words have many connotations in America that are foreign to Poland.
Even in America it boils down to geographics', ya'll.
Like the other day when someone called a vaccine a shot.
Or when Ptak commented:

Half a day passed, and you didn't criticize me for writing betwine instead of between.

Or like I did with NATO countries in Iraq.

Like NATO did in Iraq ?
The calls by NATO governments for direct intervention will increase

Meaning the calls by NATO 'governments' and not NATO in proper.
Is this just because Polish people like to frivolously "pick" or is it really because they are ignorant to American terminologies ?

Face it Pawndog, it's not like Poland is one of the most exciting countries in Europe.

Artemovsk Winery ( owner of Krimsekt trademark) is in Ukraine

Donetsk, Ukraine to be exact and is controlled by Russia.
Ukraine is disputed yet Russia controls Donetsk, Crimea.
Therefore, the damn grapes came from Russia ! lol
(You've got the Paulina syndrome of lets split hairs just so I will have someone to argue with)

I found a Krimsekt made in Poland.

For sure made from russian grapes.

So you and Poland are supporting Russia then.

Is the Cavit about the same ?

I also recommended the Salt Mines.
There is nothing in the world that compares to them.
They should be recognized as the "Eighth Wonder of the World."

Ice Wine is also in Germany. Sweet and expensive.

Same here as they only have like 24 hours to pick the grapes at an exact time and temperature to make ice wine.

Ive been to over a dozen wineries in Michigan. They are nothing to write home about.

WoW, you da man ain't sha......And that makes you a wine expert now ?
Our wineries can spot a low life mooch looking for free samples with no intentions of buying any so they give people like you the throw away stuff. lol

No wonder you weren't impressed. lmfao !
Michigan has some of the top wineries in the world beer breath.
Anyone can google that as a fact

Don't underestimate Michigan wines.
Michigan wines are worthy of the same international prestige as those from California or Europe.
And I just happen to live in the 45th parallel with wineries located all around me.
Have you ever tried "Ice Wine" where Michigan is the only place in the world that makes it. (As far as I know)
Did you know the 45th parallel plays an important role in wine making ?
Wine grapes grow between 30- and 50-degrees latitude, any farther south and it is too warm, farther north and it is too cold.
Michigan is nestled nicely in there, with points of the state ranging between the 41st and 47th parallels.
Michigan wineries along the 45th parallel share the distinction with many notable winemaking regions, including parts of France's Burgundy and Bordeaux, Italy's Piedmont and Oregon's Willamette Valley.

Here is a take that I just read that I found interesting.
The Fed's scramble to hike rates and lower liquidity is draining the stock market.
The billionaire investor pointed to the Fed's delayed response to inflation, which risks tipping the economy into a recession.
So you thought the healthy fish would survive and the sick fish would die. But the Fed is draining the entire pond, so everyone's going to die.

The Fed's scramble to hike rates and kill off inflation is draining the stock market, warning that even the "healthy fish" would die as the economy and liquidity start to shrink.

Love / Toxicity of SOME Polish Mothers Towards Their Daughters [36]

My leg is almost on the way up to kick her arse out of my life. But I keep giving her more chances to change.

@cms

I'm sticking with the 6 I picked when you challenged md in June. Of those SAP, Siemens and Schlumberger are doing nicely in this rally.

Sit on it and I will sit on my DVN (oil stock) for right now which is up 78% in the last year.

Back when I posted in July (see below) my DVN was at $52.

polishforums.com/off-topic/stock-market-talk-85560/17/#msg1863776

Yesterday my DVN closed at $69 for a $17 per share gain.
Your SLB at the same time was at $37.
Yesterday it was at $39 for a $2 per share gain.

Warren Buffet quote:
"A simple rule dictates my buying, "Be fearful when others are greedy, and be greedy when others are fearful. And most certainly, fear is now widespread, gripping even seasoned investors."

There are a lot of undervalued stocks right now.

@PolAm
There should still be some color left.
Check out D&W grocery up there in Bay View for a very big and nice wine selection.
When I am up that way I always stop in as they usually have frozen grouper too.

Bear run is not an often used term,

I learned something new as I have never heard it used like that.
I drink more wine in colder weather.
I just heard that Canada got their first snow of the season. :-)

This will be a short "bear run".

Don't you mean, "bull run" ?
I concur.
I expect Wall Street will open in the red today (in five hours from now) as the short run may be over already.
Next month another interest hike and the market will do what it always does which is go down. (bear run)
Next year your cash will be king and time to invest just like Warren Buffet has always done. (Balls out)
Some are saying the market may tank as much as 40%.
And you are right PolAm, people are sitting on a lot of cash right now with nowhere to invest it.....yet.
Oh, and the wine was very doable, thanks for the tip.
I generally sip Bogle Cabernet (same price range as yours) at dinner when I have guests.

News / Is NORD STREAM dangerous for Poland's natural enviroment? [540]

Please,don't be a twat!

Yeah, it would be just awful to have two of you here.

Nordstream was not destroyed by Russia.

Sources please.

Now a little history lesson from back in 1982 for you kids.
In January 1982, President Reagan approved a CIA plan to sabotage the economy of the Soviet Union through covert transfers of technology that contained hidden malfunctions, including software that later triggered a huge explosion in a Siberian natural gas pipeline.

The United States was attempting to block Western Europe from importing Soviet natural gas.
In order to disrupt the Soviet gas supply, its hard currency earnings from the West, and the internal Russian economy, the pipeline software that was to run the pumps, turbines, and valves was programmed to go haywire, after a decent interval, to reset pump speeds and valve settings to produce pressures far beyond those acceptable to pipeline joints and welds.

The result was the most monumental non-nuclear explosion and fire ever seen from space, as U.S. satellites picked up the explosion.
The blast occurred in the summer of 1982.
There was significant damage to the Soviet economy.
Did the C.I.A. and history just repeat itself only with T.N.T. this time ?

Apple and LI, your tips, are not doing great

I know, that's why I sold them months ago.
Your stocks aren't doing so great either but you still own them.
You have had your money tied up at very little return while I have been using my money to make money.
My complete response to you and your post #1865 is in the stock market thread.
