Travel / Poland in photo riddles - part 2 [1680]

center of Rzeszów

Actually, Rzeszow is a cool fun town. There is big contrast between the old ugly commie buildings and new modern ones.

Can you guess when this ugly statue thingy in the second pic is? No wonder the bishop has his back turned...lol

I forgot they also established other towns, including Tarnobrzeg. A good riddle. :):)

It is a very nice town, very clean and has interesting architecture.

remembered there is Baranów Sandomierski Castle in Tarnobrzeg county.

I figured you would recognize it after seeing the cannon. It seems more like an old fancy hotel than a medieval castle.

prepare new riddles which will take some time.

Dont make them too hard for me. Im just a tourist! haha

The Irishman

Another DeNino movie about gangsters...yawn
I don't know if I can stomach him anymore.

If you have Netflix watch Dave Chappelle sticks and stones and you'll laugh your head off.

Do you remember Breaking Bad? They came out with the final movie called "El Camino" on Netflix about the aftermath of Jesse Pinkman.

He is brilliant!

Absolutely, he tells it like it is and he's hilarious to boot!

I have a question...Would his regular TV show be permitted in the UK?

Example:

It looks like a Post Office in Sandomierz to me

Yes, you nailed it! I like this town with all the little shops and restaurants. It looks like a nice tourist destination during the summer as well.

Life / Typical Polish house and family [46]

As I was only once inside a single Polish house

Make sure you take off your shoes before entering a Polish home.

You might get a dirty look or be scolded by Babcia if you don't:)

see if they were clean enough to sit in one of her over stuffed chairs.

My babcia had those plastic covers on her couch and you couldn't wear shorts bc your legs would stick to it..haha

That's a fact Joker and not funny at all.

I visited a few homes in Poland where everyone takes off their shoes and they provide you slippers, not uncommon at all.

People may be insulted by not taking off your shoes. I forgot once, and they let me know quicker than a Japanese restaurant! lol

Work / Self-employed American living in Poland? Is it possible? [54]

I don't make a ton of money and really cannot afford the high cost of living in the U.S.

Have you ever been to Poland? If you cant make a decent living in the USA don't expect it to happen in Poland. The wages are a lot lower and the cost of living is much greater when you compare the wages you will possibly earn. Most Americans that move to Poland already have a nest egg saved up, then you can live comfortably.

Perhaps, if you find a little place in the country, but Krakow, bring some money....

Work / Self-employed American living in Poland? Is it possible? [54]

I thought that Medicare is for elderly and disabled irrespective of income, while Medicaid is for the poor?

Medicare is for senior citizens 65+ years old. Medicaid is for low income families.

I assume, his version of self-employed really means unemployed or severely underemployed.

A comfy middle class lifestyle with enough $ to raise a kid or two.

. but I'm getting older and want access to better and cheaper healthcare

Which is it?

Are you a senior citizen ready to have children? LOL

f I have to start all over, might as well do it in a country that has a decent quality of life

Krakow is a beautiful city and has a lot of interesting things to do during the summer. If youre earning $60k you'll be fine. You do know about what happens in winter, with the coal burning?

unearthed.greenpeace.org/2016/01/21/poland-air-pollution-krakow-coal-ban/

citylab.com/environment/2019/09/krakow-poland-pollution-air-quality-coal-wood-burning-law/597352/

This would be a deal breaker for me, but they are trying to clean it up. Give it a few more years and it should get better after the big retro-fit.....

USA, Canada / The proper behavior an American should show when visiting Poland [159]

This is good advice. Poles are more inclined to help/talk to you if you try speaking Polish first.

And all the women think its really cute when you mess up words too:)

Texan hat wearing jean jackets and a visible carry gun like

So, how do these Cowboys sneak their guns past security and onboard the airplanes?? lol

If you want to make the "ugly American" impression big time squared,

You admitted that you haven't been to Poland in 40 years, so your stereotyped opinion hasn't any credibility.

I have smiled and said dziendobre to unknown people in my elevator,gym,public/pvt offices and always got proper response

Same here Cargo. These guys are living in the past and haven't a clue about modern Poland. The people were very friendly and outgoing, the exact opposite of what they're saying.

Im sure when they go out they just stare/observe and don't talk to anyone. No wonder, they rub ppl the wrong way and carry this attitude around.

I had more ad hoc conversations in those two weeks than in two years in the US.

Lyzko lives in a time warp. Hes hasnt been to Poland in over 40 years and somehow still knows everything that is going on there. And if you dare question his authority, he deflects back to the same old mumbo jumbo about FDR or some other obscure topic.

Study / 90% of Poles have university degree? [57]

school than 21 year old self opinionated, lazy graduates.

You're better off hiring an older person than these lazy millennials, they rather play video games in mom's basement than work.

Again though, it all depends on the university!

What year did you graduate from Trump University in NYC????

Real Estate / Carpetying style? - question to Brits living in Poland [26]

Is disgusting....... only Brits do this.....but not me :-)

Are you serious? Brits have carpeting in their bathrooms! LOLOL Oh, that must stink!

It was popular in the USA too

Total BS! I have never seen this in my entire life.

I have carpeted stairs, so no chance of slipping.

This is common in the US as well, but in the bathroom is crazy.

Real Estate / Carpetying style? - question to Brits living in Poland [26]

Well it was heavily marketed and advertised in the USA so

Yet, nobody wants it or has purchased it, but in The UK sales are booming or should we say stinkin!

Renew your bathroom with our extraordinary range of bathroom carpets.

carpetright.co.uk/carpets/room-type/bathroom

The British have an obsession to carpet. Carpet can be seen in entering the British airport in pubs and administrative buildings, to bathrooms.

jonworth.eu/british-obsessions-carpet/

a lovely, lovely person, God rest his soul.

Why so lovely?

Wasn't he a drunk and drug attic that died from liver failure? Just because he happened to be Irish doesnt make him a Saint!
