Is there any part of Polish history that's at least a bit glorious?

O wow, so offensive the question!!! You should be tried and imprisoned under Kodekz Slanderowy Against Pride Narodowy.

All proud, patriotic Poles know that our proud history is only 100 procent glorious. It is the story of unceasing noble struggle for freedom despite best efforts of the evil Russia, Germany, Swedes (PIERDOLONY DELUGERS!!!) and others.

Like 300 Spartans of skies, our noble 150 pilots (in allied force of 3,000) win Battle of Britain only themselves, save wet island and win WW2 decisively. We win big at Monty's Cassino also. But where is our gold? And did our invite to duzo victory party get lost in the mail?!

Truly, no other nation is so brave, noble, smart, and above all clean, than we.

If the Poles had done nothing, World War II would have ended sooner.

Based on the pluses and minuses, that BS known as the Warsaw Uprising that took 250,000 lives was really stupid ...and so very predictable how it would end...

It's a genius idea. De-militarize the US and wait for China and Russia to occupy it. Doing nothing will save a million of lives.

You know you can be arrested for saying this slander?!

Brave and noble uprising was so smart and duzo win for the Poland. Entire capital flattened, great blank canvas for covering in communist tower bloki. Such beautiful bloki would later be covered in spectacular art by noble fans of the brave Legia Football Club. Now, this noble and brave phoenix city is the envy of entire swiat!!! What an achievement - what a Poland!!

Not the worst plan but.... fatal flaw was trusting 'allies' like the cccp.... known for treachery.

the worst plan

The German forces were still too strong, the uprising was premature.

cccp.... known for treachery.

CCCP was no more treacherous than any other country trying to do what's best for it...

That included making sure that post-war Poland was a lot friendlier to the Soviet Union than the current crop of PF Russia haters.

The US, on the other hand, welcomed both friend and foe...and never, ever sent its CIA operators to, God forbid, interfere with another country's elections...Like in Ukraine...Right?

2 million men are dead now, but...as long as it's for "freedom and democracy"... those deaths are fully justified...

I hope that you, Russia-hating morons, still have enough brains to detect sarcasm...

glorious Polish history

Yesterday, for example, my Bulgarian colleague praised Poland and especially Lech Wałęsa as the greatest democrat of all time in the world. I was surprised. As you can see, the world often thinks better about Poland than Poles themselves.

That is so true.Poland has a lot to be proud about and even Lech Walesa, for all his faults, will be regarded in history as a hero.

that bullshit Warsaw Uprising broke out as the Soviets approached Warsaw and also when their own Polish language radio called Varsovian to arms - Armia Krajowa leardership was in no position to know that Germans would beat Soviets on the outskirts of Warsaw and that after they liberated the right bank Warsaw in early September the Soviets would stand by and not do a **** to help the uprising for a month

that bullshit Warsaw Uprising broke out as the Soviets approached Warsaw

Poles in Warsaw could have done what Poles in Lublin did in July 1944:

Nothing.

The Warsaw uprising prolonged the war and added 250,000 Polish casualties to the total.

When I Googled: Lublin welcoming the Red Army in July 1944, I got no pictures showing grateful Poles. Not even one...

Instead, I found this:

Four monuments of gratitude to the Red Army have been dismantled

The statement by the President of the Institute of National Remembrance on decommunisation of the public space is being responded to by an increasing number of local authorities that decide to eliminate the remnants of the totalitarian system. The dismantling of monuments is an implementation of the law that prohibits the propagation of communism or any other totalitarian system.

What "totalitarian system", Polish azzholes...It was YOUR system, YOU ran it, and YOU benefited from it. The Red Army was confined to a base near Legnica...waiting to go home...

There are limits decent human beings should never cross. Polish scum crossed this red line in this and other such cases.

Memo to the brave Soviet soldiers who died liberating Poland: I apologize for my ex-country's behavior. Rest in Peace.

Special thanks for standing guard and protecting Poland from Vietnam-style, "freedom and democracy" police action.
