Who deserves to inherit Polish Forums?

I mean those ready-made forums you can set up for free. Admin made his own forum/site by himself and is paying for using the server.


As I already wrote - I personally wouldn't be OK with donating any money in any way to this forum. But that's just me, maybe other people will do it.

There is no worse way to spend time than at the computer. Less PC time, better and longer life...

Specifically, as a test, how much would posters be willing to pay for the things they learned here about Poland from day one? $2?

Frankly....reading that I can't blame the admin/owner throwing the towel!

Not sure what you mean... Admin decided to sell PF before this discussion started... That's why we're having this discussion in the first place :)

So, even if there's going to be money to cover the costs of running PF then I guess the question remains... who's going to be running/moderating it?

Not for me... For me it's always been a madhouse :) Also, we can move somewhere else if there's going to be no other choice.

Because he is tired/fed up? Work is alot harder if it isn't appreciated, even denigrated......especially if it costs your own money!

People's priorities change with time. I myself spent more time on the internet when I was younger and I didn't know any better :)

Your choice. I'd be fine with kicking in PLN 1,000 to a public welfare organisation each year. Just need admin to file the paperwork. It would cost more to file paperwork than PLN1000, but thanks for the idea.

If OpenAI didn't skim all the data on this forum and Polanda for free, you could one day sell the data set for a model to train on. It wouldn't be much money, but you could produce a bot with exquisite knowledge of Poland.

But this train is past, the data has already been collected - for free.

The value is in the domain name, and what could be done with it.

Where/ When does it end ? It doesn't is the correct answer which brings us to the conclusion that this site may not be worth what the owners think it is.
Cargo offered to buy it not long ago and was turned down.
The owners had a chance to sell it, and didn't, so I doubt they will be selling it anytime soon at their asking price.

All it takes is for 20 members to contribute $10 each, every month, and the site stays online. It's a price of a couple of newspapers for the whole lot of fun that we have here.

Unless somebody decides to be exceptionally generous, like Bobko today, then even fewer people need to chip in that month.

I'm, frankly, surprised that some people don't like the arrangement.

I spend more at the bar, in one sitting, than it takes to support this forum for a month.

Better for my health than finding other ways to f*ck my brain.

A lot actually.
When I first came here I had all intentions of visiting Poland for a month or two.
What I have learned here is that it would be a waste of my time and money.
I did learn however that Ireland would be much more fun, with people that actually give you eye contact, that smile, that the food is much much better than Poland's, people aren't depressing like as in Poland, nicer ocean views, more tourist friendly...........so in short, this site did save me about $6k from ever visiting Poland.
Ireland and Switzerland are on my near future list to visit now.

Don't know if it's a coincidence but I see more and more search results in google from various forums, reddit, or quora. It looks the AI is managing search results now and it realized people are looking for real content, real connections, no matter if it has spelling mistakes or unpopular opinions. People are tired of robotic content sold in a nice package. Google has been manually pushing "brands" in the last decade because they could make money selling ads to those brands and their competitors, but maybe they gave up and will try again giving searchers what they want, just like they did back in 2000-2015.
