So how can your confession be any sort of "kompromat" if it's made in complete anonymity?

Riiiiight. Because 100/200 years ago, people in Polish villages would travel to the church in the next village over to give their 'confession', because then they would be assured of anonymity?

It's not like they're posting under a pseudonym on a forum here, to an audience of strangers thousands of miles away. It's not complete anonymity.

In the tiny communities that made up most of Poland at any time before the 20th century, it basically meant putting yourself in a position of vulnerability before the local religious authority figure who would have a pretty good idea who you were, and you'd know that, and they'd then tell you you're a bad person and what rituals you'd need to do in order to make up for it. This is standard cult stuff to maintain the power dynamic and mental grip over the unfortunate cultists.

This time Turk is right. Google or your smartphone provider knows much more about you than a priest.

Well, I guess they knew what they were talking about when they said that heretics should be burned at the stake, but they had no real will to execute it properly, and now we have this kind of BS.

They know your location and some of your shopping preferences as a consumer. Not exactly salacious stuff - not like telling some dodgy man in a frock you've been ******* your brother's wife and so you've 'sinned'.

Oh... you were discussing Polish villages in 1800s? I thought you were talking about the Church today.

But even back then, a peasant could travel to a neighbouring village for a local fair and go to confession there. You realise that Catholics are obliged to go to confession only once a year in the Easter period. It's not like those peasants were lining up for confession every week. :)

Turk

Turk?

Is this some kind of Volksdeutsch humour that I am too Polish to understand?

If the UK is so great then how and why could Rotherham happen?

This is very true.

If the UK is so great

The UK is not so great, we were in a mess already and then the Socialists won the election..... welcome to the UKSR!

The UK is not so great,

For all of Poland's faults (and they exist....) the idea of law enforcement covering up the mass sexual exploitation of young vulnerable citizens for fear of being called racist is pretty much inconceivable....

They know much more, they know everything you have ever written on the internet, and they can also eavesdrop on your conversations.

Right. Because of course, Catholic countries don't know anything about mass child sex abuse coverups, right? The Rotherham thing, although very useful to people trying to push a certain agenda, is small potatoes compared to what the Catholic Church has enabled and covered up over the years. Hundreds of thousands worldwide, at a conservative estimate.

It's amusing to see an American claiming to care about kids, btw, given that in your country, the most common cause of child death is gun massacres. So it's terrible for dirty brown men to be abusing them but when they're being murdered at school en masse, that's just "the price we have to pay for freedom"? Or rather "the price we pay to appease the gun lobby and rabid right wing, and stick to an 'amendment' written back when people were firing flintlock rifles." Great and thoroughly laudable reasons for children to be slaughtered at school.

Whatever Britain and Poland's faults, neither country would for one single solitary millisecond tolerate what Americans have proudly/meekly (depending on their politics) simply accepted happening to their children.

Catholic countries don't know

Look as a heretic, you know nothing, and spewing the same BS after 400 years is evidence enough you don't have real arguments. Also, comparing apples and oranges shows you have no chance here. Gaslighting doesn't work. If you like to embarrass yourself time and time again, post some more of your nonsense.

mass child sex abuse coverups, right?

What cover ups? It's been all over the news, whereas the entire British establishment tried to cover up the mass sexual exploitation of vulnerable young British women and they are_still_ obsessed with bringing in as many new potential assaulters as they can....

An Afghan admits to raping a 12-year-old and this will have no effect whatsoever on UK migration policy because the UK establisment hates British women.

How long did the UK government deny/cover up the Southport motives?

Go eff yourself and fix your country before you blather on about Poland.

UK establisment hates British women.

What, like the American people hate children, you mean? As they're so eager to have them killed at every possible opportunity? Is it some kind of satanic blood sacrifice ritual with you guys - the more kids get shot to death in one go, the more pleased Master Satan will be with you?

The topics are Poland and the UK? The only reason to drag the US into is to try hide the fact that you're losing this argument.

Are they? I think the topic of this thread was some guy wanting food and clothes. Do you get to dictate the topic?

Not so fun when someone's telling you all about how ****** your country is, eh? You were the one who started talking about what Poland, "for it's faults", would never tolerate. Pretty much all of the developed world would never tolerate the mass-murder of children the way your country does. So maybe you should think long and hard before you get back on your high horse again? No nation that has 'active shooter drills' in its schools should ever even think about opening its big mouth to try and talk to another about 'protecting children' - so shut the f*ck up you prick.

They don't hate women.

They hate admitting they have been wrong all these years and that they have caused an irreversible and existential damage to the country.

By now, we all know that being invaded by a shooting army is a walk in the park when compared to migrants.

I would take a shooting army over migrants every day of the week. See Germany invading Poland. Six years later...no Germans in Poland.

Not so with the UK. This is AIDS and pancreatic cancer rolled into one bloody, lethal mess...

What cover ups? It's been all over the news,

It gets to the news after the coverup is revealed, absolute debilitated f*cking moron. Are you genuinely this stupid or just being obtuse?

theguardian.com/world/2024/oct/29/catholic-church-still-failing-to-deal-with-sexual-abuse-cases-says-vatican-report

ebsco.com/research-starters/law/boston-globe-reports-child-sexual-abuse-roman-catholic-priests

pbs.org/newshour/show/investigation-reveals-widespread-sexual-abuse-and-cover-ups-by-archdiocese-of-baltimore

Covering up dirty noncing priests is literally what the Catholic Church does best, along with preventing women from having reproductive rights and giving gay people a hard time. It's practically their raison d'etre. Seriously, you don't know that, you cretin?
