Australia / Can I send pickled veges in jars back to Australia from Poland [5]

There are many Polish delicatessens here in ever major city !
Also often major supermarkets have polish pickles, and other goodies
just have to look carefully cause I saw a jar of "Polskie Ogórki" on it
but under closer inspection they were product of India :-) still taste good

Travel / Anyone flew with Ryanair from Gdansk Yet? [8]

Watch out for their luggage restrictions . I its only 15 kg, one have to pay extra can't remember how much but it wasn't cheap.

My ticket cost 35 euro for myself and my luggage 45 Euro and if I had not re-packed my suitcase at the airport I would have to pay extra.

In the end wizzair is much better !

Genealogy / Looking for sister, conneticut? Originally from Bielsko Biala [14]

edward22
don't be offended but the chances that your sister is here on this forum are
extremely slim. Not all polish people who live in the world or US are signed up
to this forum .... Never the less if you give us facts and maybe just maybe
one of us knows of such person.

So what do you know about your biological family ?
What do you know about your sister ? birth day is a good start !
what hospital were you born in ? what is your biological surname?

Love / POLISH GIRLS AND LOOSE JEANS [36]

I was in Poland 2 weeks ago and have the opposite experience. I think everyone (females) in Poland wear very very tight pants or jeans !
I even had to buy new jeans so that I would fit into the crowd and won't
stand out !
What city did you noticed this ?

Food / Polish food secret recipes [11]

My family doesn't have any secret recipes :-( .

but I noticed that a common thing like a rosól (chicken stock) tastes differently
depending who makes it. Even my grandmother's tastes differently
than my mum's. Everybody has a different tolerance for saltiness, etc.
so they use different amounts of spices etc.

Life / UNSHAVEN BUM LOOK - STILL POPULAR in POLAND? [15]

Polonius3 I have a question to pose to you .

Why are you starting some meaningless topics ?

Think of something interesting to start a thread
or at least explain why are you asking about the
latest shave/unshave look .

Life / Are Polish traditions dissapearing [93]

I noticed after being away from my mother country for a long
while that everything is Anglonised. On television and on packaging
all the signs are using English words instead of translations.
English language is slowly creeping in to everyday language .
Also traditions that were not polish are celebrated like Valentine's day
St Patric's day.
In my opinion Polish nation is slowly being homogenised into Europe.

Love / My Polish boyfriend fancies are Pakistani neighbor. What do I do ? [291]

well if your bf really likes that neighbour girl....when he makes love with you
he thinks about HER ... How does that make you feel ? do you still love him ?
or are you angry ? jealous ?
I think I would't be able to stand a situation like that !
Just dump him .... it is better to be the one who dumps than the one being dumped.

Life / Catholic funeral of a close relative- from Poland [3]

ohh how sad.

I think the best is to call your friend and talk to him , it helps to have
friends and someone to talk to . Also you can send a card with condolences .
Just let your friend know that you are his friend. That is the best thing to do.

Love / Stalker Friend of my Polish GF? [40]

In my opinion there is only one thing why the guy would do such thing, Polish men are proud would never do that even if they live under a rock in some small village.

It is only my speculation of coures but she probably promissed this guy the moon and the stars borrowed serious amount of CASH and now ignores him!

So what is he to do ?

Food / Cost of Nescafe coffee in Poland. [49]

I arrived in Poland 3 weeks ago and I found that the price of coffee beans is more dear than instat coffee. (in Oz is the other way round)

People make coffee at home by pouring boiling water over ground coffee beans and serve it in a glass. (sugar optional) It is not that bad however it is no cappuccino.!!!!

best instant coffee is Nescafe Gold! cost25 PLN for 200g .

Today I have visited a specialty store of coffee, tea ,and fruit teas they bousted that their coffee is imported from Netherlands and it is pure Arabica however I looked at the beans and they looked like robusta beans to me.Hmmm

the joke by the Chaser - (comedians from oz) is one thing , but the commentary afterwards it was far more shocking and not that funny to me !

Life / Would this be viewed as okay for most Polish families? [38]

It depends , my brother lived at home until he got married - my mom and I did everything
for him, he never ever did one thing !
but when he got to live with his wife and they
had a baby very soon he started doing all the housework and even change the baby , wash nappies, whatever she asked for.
So boys can do it and can learn , it is only if they do not have to do any housework
they never offer.
do not worry it will sort itself out !

Life / New Polish I.D. card. [Dowód Osobisty] - big fine if you don't apply [55]

I asked my brother about it and
whoever posted this post may be very wrong.
there is no fine if you permenantly live overseas , that is more than 182 days a year.
and one is allowed to use the old Id until the end of March after that , It is illegal
to use the old ones and there is a fine for doing that.

This is the sorty how I underestand it.
