News / Third World War and the role of Poland [82]

If such an event takes place, what will be the role of poland?

the role of Poland will be one big-ass target because now the world thinks for sure that we are gutless lovers of whatever garbage the USA shoves down our throats. Secret CIA jails? No problem! Send troops to invade Iraq? No problem! Send troops to Afghanistan (even though every other country on earth filed to pacify it)? Yes please! Pointless anti-missile rockets? Why the hell not, we agreed to literally everything else!!

We will sink to depths of hell along with Uncle Slam and its increasingly useless dollar...

Life / Katowice: what do you think? [42]

Katowice: what do you think?

Katowice is a the capital of a large industrial connurbation, much of the industry was based on coal and metalurgy but now services are playing an increrasingly larger role. The center has many ugly buildings but some cool architecture as well - which makes it similiar to Warsaw in that respect, but it lacks Warsaw's more international flavor. Katowice has enough clubs and pubs to make nightlife interesting, and at least you will be close to the mountains and close enough to Budapest and Prague to make weekend trips by train feasible. Randompal's scale of livability for Katowice: 7 (out of 1-10)

UK, Ireland / Do polish people honestly think its a better life in the uk? [17]

Do polish people honestly think its a better life in the uk?

for some people the grass is always greener somewhere (anywhere) else, but then once they get used to the pleasure od making a little more money for their effort and work they realise they have other problems. BUt on the other hand, whoever said "Money can't buy you hapiness" probably never had to pay 1000złoty rent on an 800 złoty paycheck...which is often the case in Poland

USA, Canada / No US Visa Waiver for Poles - 8/9/07 [96]

That is stupid.

why?

because it doesnt mention the fact that illegal aliens are very good for business - they usually work for minimum wage or less and they dont get out of line too often since they are in constant fear of getting deported or losing their jobs..they save businesses lots of money, so this "they cost us this and that" argument is irrelevant

Real Estate / I'm not Polish - can I buy a house in Poland ? [49]

yes you can buy flats in Poland. Exclusive properties are expected to keep increasing in value making them a good investment for years to come, or so say the experts..

Work / The qualifications for teachers in Poland? [101]

The good old days when anybody with a BA from an American or Canadian college could get a job teaching English as soon as they stepped off the plane are over. But the demands vary depending on where you want to teach. To teach at a private language school (like Berlitz to name one of hundreds) you need a college degree (BA is fine) and some sort of a TEFL certificate, which u can get many places. A masters is important if you want to teach at a Polish public school, and a masters in Education is key, otherwise forget it. You can get a job at a private high school or junior high without a masters in Education, they often look the other way..

Love / What do men want with Polish Girls huh??? [72]

They screw you for money, never look after the house, don't want to look after the kids either. beware you're warned, the first few years are just a lead on

funny, that's just the reputation British and American women have, but we know what good stereotyping does us!

Are so very very loyal to their partner?
Are very family orientated focussing on he childs development?
Are firmly set on Traditions?

they aint what they used to be though...

News / Is the E.U. good for Poland?? [180]

Tusk is more level headed an will be a better option for Poland.

history will be the judge but anyway first he has to win. Tusk performed better in the debate, Kaczor spewed vague statements and silly jingoism, but o h well, many people eat that stuff up as we all know...

News / Poles in Iraq. What's the point? [160]

as the situation in Iraq normalizes.

dream on, keeping foreign troops there won't lead to stability and it will get worse before it gets better

They could the nationalize the oil and sell it

they already did nationalize it, and Uncle Sam invaded, with Brits (and Poles, and Spaniards, and..) in tow. Fter it was invaded the oil was privatized (looted) and Exxon and BP I believe took the biggest share, the Polish oil co. (ORLEN) got very little.

If you dont support what their doing atleast support the men and women putting their lives on the line.

Most people dont support what they (our deluded greedy leaders) are doing but methinks most of us feel sorry for the poor wretches who (the troops) have to sit there and dodge bullets. I would rather all the remaining soldiers come home unharmed, but your local Congressman, Senator, MP or whatever doesnt want that to happen. At least not most of them. That whole I think you should just shut up and support our troops argument is moot, soldiers are like tools who dont have much of a choice as to what theyre used for, they take orders and end of story.

News / Polish Election Poll (according to PolishForums) [237]

What are chances that political party with Pan-Slavic (among else) orrientation come to power in Poland?

probably slim because pan-Slavism reeks of pan-Russianism...the most powerful nation will always try to steal the show

I also like poles most about other nationalities. Because you're very different...

looks like its mutual because Poles seem to like Turks..at least kebabs. the best kebab place in Warsaw is run by Turks, the one behind Nowy Swiat

History / Poland-Russia: never-ending story? [1341]

They are only for Russian, Ukranian and Philipino women. I've never seen one for PL women. I think they have a little more respect for themselves.

Its not about respect. Poland isn't as poor as those countries you mentioned..

I told you it's more than wealth. And yes Poland is a rich country, not as rich as superwealth UK, France, Germany or the US, but yes Poland is a rich country.

in international rankings Poland scores about 50 (give or take 10 - too lazy to look it up) out of 180 plus countries.

USA, Canada / Canadian moving to Poland...any advice? [30]

there is lots of bear-shakes or kissing the cheeks (even for guys)

kissing on the cheeks (guy kissing guy on cheek) is generally reserved for family, if friends do it it means they are very old or maybe from the countryside - in the cities this isnt done..but beware Polish guys are enthusiastic handshakers, whereas Amerciancs and Canadians not as much

There's nothing wrong with Polish TV.

yes there is, it sucks and the commercials are broadcast at a louder volume than the actual program which forces you to keep the remote handy so you can mute

There aren't any malls

there are many, at least in warsaw, and there will be more and more

don't wear a t-short that says USA on it. lol

seriously - what are the chances of a Canadian parading around town with a USA t-shirt? this guy probably wouldnt be caught dead wearing one..

News / Why so many bad candidates for Poland Prime Minister? [261]

I'm going to hold my nose and vote for the kashubian for the main reason unlike Kwasniewski and Kaczynski he has no relationship with george bush.

PO is the only party other than LPR to publicly admit that keeping soldiers in Iraq is rather pointless, it was in the papers today.

USA, Canada / WHY SO MANY POLISH SPEAKING PEOPLE in Chicago? [11]

WHY SO MANY POLISH SPEAKING PEOPLE in Chicago?

because it was such a boomtown during the turn of the century and that coincided with a massive exodus from Poland. we have just witnessed another exodus, mainly to the British Isles this time..

Language / I know Russian language - will it help me learn Polish? [105]

Russian is harder to understand than Ukranian, and Slovak is even easier. Czech isnt so tough, you can understand most of what they say but there are some funny differences like mentioned above. My favorite is when Czech guys talk about their girlfriends and say: "To moja divka" (That's my girlfriend) but to Poles it sounds like "To moja dziwka" (That's my *****)..

***** censored by the moderator was supposed to be wh*re
