im not gonna sit here and rant about polish coming here to work etc etc.......

but what i will say is.... do they really think that our lives are better over here? i guess this isnt just for polish people as its for anyone who is from europe who are wanting to move over here to work.

im also not trying to stop people from coming over here as people have rights and i dont mind at all.....but do they understand that the cost of living is higher then back home even if the wages are 3x what they would get.......i mean i know 2 couples from the one from czech lives in a one bed flat paying £90 a week with out bills yet she has 3 jobs and he has one. but they struggle every month. its like she said she never thought it was this hard over here and she couldnt wait to go back home to go to college to study as its to expensive to learn here......the other couple from slovakia has a tiny terreced two bed house mortgage is £500 pm has two jobs and her husband has one i dont think they understand what its really like over here.....or do they mind

i just wanted to know a polish persons view to be honest

i find it much easier here. i have a full time job, live just round the corner renting a room (but have use of all the house etc.), after i pay rent i have plenty to go around with. ive been here nearly 3 years and to me coming back to poland permanently would be like a step backwards, id miss the money. i cut down on going out a LOT as that is quite expensive here, but i do treat myself for other things. i know living in uk is expensive but salaries are good enough to pay for it and have a decent, comfortable lifestyle. the minimum wage for over 22s is now someting like £5.50. i know some people struggle here but that is mainly because their english is poor or they are not working 'legally' without national insurance. im not saying that finding a job is easy, not now with all eastern-europeans coming over everyday and employers becoming more and more picky. people who are queuein up for national insurance number interviews are being made to wait for months and not all employers are happy to take you on with just a temporary one. if your english is bad but you still think you will have a better life in britain - forget about it. i think that its much better to stay in your own country and try improve it because its easier as you at least understand the language and have family or friends. risking everything just for a dream about a new life hundreds of miles away from your home land is just too much of a gamble.

Hmmmm

I guess it can be related to the Early rushes to emigrate to America.
The land of milk and honey.
Back then it was supposed to be living the dream.
Great prospects. New homes.. New Lives.

Now we have the Eu.
Everyone with a rough life. Jumps the first available transport.
To England.
I guess bc they hear how nice it is.
Some have great lives here.
I work with Greeks. Irish. Indians. Polish.
For those who are willing to work. Life can be SO Much easier.
Compared to where they are. And for different reasons..

So Yes.
I Guess most do.

I don't think that those going to the UK think enough about the city they move to. London always seems to be the first choice. But is it the best choice ?

It's only a better life, if you can get by with one job and put money in the bank.

To England.

Nothing new there, the first lines from the song Mountains of Morn, summed that up

"Mary this London's a wonderful sight
they're digging for gold here by day and by night
at least when I asked them that's what they told me
but for all that I've found here I may as well be
where the mountains of Morn run down to the sea"

for some people the grass is always greener somewhere (anywhere) else, but then once they get used to the pleasure od making a little more money for their effort and work they realise they have other problems. BUt on the other hand, whoever said "Money can't buy you hapiness" probably never had to pay 1000złoty rent on an 800 złoty paycheck...which is often the case in Poland

london has its pros and cons like anyother place, the key problem in england is the crime and the connection between immigrants, becasue of the laws on entry it seems that many people from overseas come here with bad intention, someone on this forum rasied a article on the crime commited by immigrants... i think the govt needs to be more focused on these issues to tackle them and make london a better place.. in england you have tolerance, equlaity and freedom.. but too much fredom can have its negative effects as we can see

I suppose that the saving grace is the high cost of housing now in England. I bought my present house six years ago for £150,000 and it has been valued a few weaks ago at £365,000. If housing was much cheaper, there would be nothing to stop these people coming in to the United Kingdom permanently. I would like to see a return to the old fashioned visa system but in this case, the right to work being included but for a maximum of six months without the right to renewal. No small country like England can afford to be exploited in this way.

The NHS and most services industries would collapse.

No ones being exploited. Its a mutual contract. Both sides gain.

No, the British are in turn being exploited bacause the Poles are coming and taking the lower paid jobs from the unemployed and vulnerable English workers. New contracts mean lower wages and less rights for everyone. It is time for Britain to pull out from the E.U. and I, for one, was always against our membership for this very reason.

Britain, as a whole gains

Poles are coming and taking the lower paid jobs from the unemployed and vulnerable English workers.

True, but Britain as a whole is gaining. If you look throughout Europe the 3 countries doing the best economically are Britain, Spain and Ireland. The 3 countries with the laxest borders. This isnt a coincidence.

yes but their are lots of english people who have been brought up on the lazy life of social benefits who out right refuse to work. i think the problem is that the uk is tied to closely to the u.s, and because of the economic situation there, investment into the uk has declined, meaning there just isnt as many jobs as their was in the past 5 years. then again, a look onto the job seekers website shows thousands of jobs which have been advertised for months. this is the modern global world we live in now. no point moaning, we have to just get on with it.

Yes, you are right. In some of the better parts of the town, you could not buy a three bedroomed flat for so little. However, the point is, the rising house prices.
