Love / is he married or not? [41]

i agree.. if hes that good looking and knows it and by the way he is acting, he is defiinitely a player. If he had wanted to be with you he had the opportunity, and he knows you like him so he wants to keep you dangling in case he changes his mind. Hard as it is, try to forget him unless you are just up for fun. If its a relationship you want he doesnt sound like a good prospect. Good luck.

Love / Do Polish men like to flirt? [42]

if he gives you chocolates, calls you and tells you are sexy.. it doesnt sound like he just wants to be friends to me.

Love / I really like this Polish guy....what to do next?? [76]

one word of advice.. if he is in his late 30s as you say.. check he doesnt have a wife back home (or anywhere else). Not sure how to do this, but at least check his right hand for a ring.Only saying this as generally they get married younger in Poland, but maybe you will be lucky and he truly is single. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

UK, Ireland / Do Poles integrate well into British society? [18]

in my opinion Polish guys integrate less than girls.. they tend to work and socialise together, sometimes its down to language problems and sometimes they are just happier doing this as they are here only to make money and dont really want English friends.. this is also not helped by the mentality of some English people towards immigrants.. most girls I have met speak much better English than the guys and they are more likely to work in jobs where they come into contact with the general public, such as shops and cafes. Of course I am generalising widely, but I did say in my opinion. If I can give a eg. my partner had been here for 4 years when we met and didnt have a single English friend.. and his English was terrible because of this.. as he hadnt needed to make the effort since he was living in an ex-pat bubble.

Love / WHY DO POLISH WIVES WHO ARE AWAY NOT VISIT THEIR HUSBANDS? [75]

Debiano.. it could work out for you, even though he lied to you in the beginning.. imo no-one has an affair if they are truly happy in their relationship.. although plenty of men will go back to their wives because of family pressure and the stigma of divorce. I dont believe that if a man cheats once he will neccessarily do it again, not to say that he might not.. but your relationship with him is different to that of him and his wife. Does he have children?

Im my case I entered into a similar relationship, but slightly different as his wife was living here in the UK with him. After 6 months he left her for me and she went back to Poland, although she came back after a few months. We are still together after 2 and a half years, but his wife is still here and still wants him back. Also his family put pressure on him to go back to her and I know they will never accept me.. so its not easy. Thankfully there are no children involved in my case, but although he loves me and we have been living together all this time, I dont know if he will ever officially divorce her or if she will ever give up wanting him back.. Anyway I wanted to share this with you so that you know that its not impossible, but also not easy.

Life / Polish citizens have no Respect for the Land they live on [4]

good on ya. I think there is no excuse for not recycling. I get bins from the council that are collected weekly.. at my work we recycle everything and anything. I did used to live in one London borough that was caught emptying the recycling bins into a landfill site..somehow that disheartens those who have made the effort to trek to the bin with all their empties.. My partner is Polish and he is fanatic about recycling so I guess its not all Poles. Maybe the Polish goverment needs to promote it more?? I like the idea of paying extra money on packaging.. I have recently been working at a music festival behind the bar.. we charged an extra 10p on every pint cup which was refundable. At the end of the festival there was barely a pint cup to be seen anywhere and lots of people took the initiative to collect loads of them and make money. One guy came to the bar with 168 cups.. thats £16.80! if they could have done the same for all the paper plates and other food packaging would have been a hell of a lot less of a clean up.

News / English vs. Polish hostility [323]

I have to say that I have noticed that very strange regard that many Poles have for Maggie Thatcher.

I've noticed this too. Is it common and why???

Love / Does speed dating exist in Poland? [10]

Take my advice and marry first. Then meet a Polish girl and get married. After a couple of months you can simply walk away from the marriage as it was adulterate from the start!

now you are advocating bigamy.. whatever next??

UK, Ireland / Why do Poles come to England? [514]

All Poles which i know and which come to England are faggots. Think they are so cool, cuz they are working in foreign country. In fact they are much worse in english than me and just clean british asses.

Just wondering how much an hour you get for wiping British arses? sounds like a crap job to me.

News / English vs. Polish hostility [323]

well said tornado. Im sure that guy is a Brit.. and a stupid one at that. Actually there actually are plenty of Poles living here rent free.. they just bunk up with friends or relatives.. i saw 25 Polish people living in a 3 bed council house on TV the other day... and plenty who dont pay taxes either. I have nothing against anyone coming here who is willing to contribute something to our economy and not going to moan about how crap the country is in relation to their life back home.

UK, Ireland / Why do Poles come to England? [514]

The polish just come because they don't like their countrym they believe that any country is better than their's, and because in England they think they can make alot of mkoney

Of course they come to make money, but that doesnt mean they all hate their country. I have found the opposite to be true in fact. Some may complain about the economy/politics or whatever, but when it comes down to it most are patriotic. Guess you could the same about a lot of Brits, we love to run our country down, but when a foreigner trys to do it we get all defensive and patriotic.

Love / Mexican in love with Polish girl. Need advice on what to do. [49]

wroclaw is right. Unless you have a dodgy illegal passport..If you leave the US you may never get back in if you have been illegal, then if things dont work out in the UK or wherever else, you will have no choice but to go back to Mexico. This happened to a Polish friend of mine who lived in the US for 7 years and had his own business there.. he was married to an American and awaiting a green card, but was working illegally in the meantime. He went back to Poland for 2 weeks and they wouldnt let him back in.. this was 3 years ago and he's still waiting.

UK, Ireland / Getting married to a Polish Citizen in the UK [371]

i think he means if you marry in the UK you would have a better chance of getting residency, but still very difficult.. so best to get proper legal advice or talk to someone who has done it. Love will conquer all.. I say take her to Mexico and live there..its a lovely country. Buen suerte.

UK, Ireland / Getting married to a Polish Citizen in the UK [371]

jonny, as far as I know if you are Mexican and she is Polish, even if you get married in the UK you wont have the right to remain here. You can come on a tourist or student visa, but in order to stay indefinitely you would have to apply for British citizenship and would need to have been here for a number of years to do that. I think this applies to the last poster too, not sure what country you are from, but if you return there to get married, there is no guarantee that you will be able to come back to the UK, other than as a tourist.

USA, Canada / Advice for Polish girlfriend getting tourist visa to visit America? [45]

Y

- I wonder to whom and why would my post come across as 'terribly racist'? Please prove your claim that my post is racist.

well i think it was racist as you were suggesting that every American is going to be hostile towards Polish immigrants, this to me is racism against Americans. And in my opinion it is derogatory to talk about 'third world shop assistants' as you are lumping together all people working in the US who come from less developed countries and implying that they are all shop assistants. Its also implying that a shop assistant is a menial job.

I was merely trying to inform you that the term Third World is no longer deemed socially acceptable. 'The South' is the term used in development circles, in the same way that we used to talk about 'the West' as being the developed world. This doesnt mean that all such countries are southern, but that the majority of the developing countries are situated south of the equator. Personally, I would argue as to whether China falls into this category anyway.

As for my muddled thinking, I take that as a compliment :)

USA, Canada / Advice for Polish girlfriend getting tourist visa to visit America? [45]

Thirld World shop assistants,

coming from someone who seems to think they are a bit intellectual, I surprised that you dont know that the term 'third world' is no longer used, these days it is merely known as 'the South'. Your post comes across as terribly racist, but perhaps you dont care about that.

Language / Things Polish people who speak English language say [180]

why and where you leard this?

do you mean heard about the similarities between Spanish and Polish?? I have come across it on online courses, where it has been said that speaking Spanish is an advantage when it comes to learning Polish.. also through my own experience.. although the roots of the 2 languages are totally different, there are some unexpected similarities in some words. Sometimes I hear a word in Polish and I immediately know it in English because it is similar to the Spanish word..there are plenty of egs. other than those I list above, such as da me (give me).. its sounds similar in Polish.. dai me (dont know spelling)

History / Memories of the Polish communist era [115]

i just want to say what an interesting thread this is. My partner has told me something of his own experiences growing up under communist rule and how it has also affected his attitudes towards certain things like money and a general feeling of distrust for people until they prove themselves honourable.. this post has enabled me to understand more of this. I am interested to hear from other people who grew up under the regime about how this time has shaped their views on life today.
