From what iv been hearing a lot of people are leaving Poland, for jobs in other countries such as France or England. Is this really true? I want to move to Poland, I'm thinking Katowice or Krakow will there be any jobs? I'm thinking to either continue studying for social work or teaching english

There is enough jobs, but mostly low payed and not in your dreamed profession. Half of young people has some bachelor or master so diploma doesn't make it much easier to get a good job.

Here you have a list of the best payed professions. It's median PLN net:

I guess that doctors get their money mostly in bribes, that's why they're not included.

Lovely! I love peanuts. But only salted. I heard that salt is very cheap in Poland coz they have Wieliczka Salt Mine.

I couldn't agree more...... moving to Poland for work is not a sensible option..... especially when most Poles are going the other way.....

Walking in various areas of Poland, you can hear Ukrainian language. Shopping malls, airports, transportation, hotels, city centers, everywhere. It might have negatively affected the job situation for native Poles, but with the EU it doesn't matter much for Poles I guess. It's only a little tricky since Ukraine is not formally in the EU but it's fine with me as there's the war going on there. Polish citizens, through voting, need to decide what works for them and their future job prospects.

Wait just a minute...

Are you telling me that in a democratic Poland, there was no referendum meant to find out if Poles want to open the gates for the millions of Ukrainian women and kids who produce nothing but consume a lot?

I thought that the days of top-down dictatorship were over...

No referendum. It started with media propaganda to shape the views, then some executive actions followed to allow it. Still, the history will judge it, but for sure Poles will be / should be considered as a thoughtful and helpful nation. I just hope Ukraine will appreciate it because for now it's not always the case. There will be plenty of time in the future to get along together and do business together.

For now, unemployment in Poland is constantly falling and is the second lowest in the entire European Union.

Just before the pandemic there were around two million (conservative estimate) Ukrainians working in Poland where they were an important part of the economy.

That's one reason the country was willing to take in so many after russian invaded Ukraine.

As early as 2017 or so there was very little real unemployment (that is if you wanted a job you could find one and the long-term unemployed were mostly the type that would find a reason they couldn't take any job). The problem was that many/most jobs didn't pay enough to make ends meet (hence Ukrainians taking up some of that slack).

People forget these things so quickly.... it's like living among goldfish sometimes.....

And as we know so very well from Econ 101, adding low-earning foreigners boosts the average wage so much...Brilliant...

How about paying the natives more so that they don't have to leave, be replaced by tax-subsidized foreign scum, and create a bilingual mess. And the obligatory gangs, of course...

Memo to econ idiots: There is no such thing as cheap migrant labor. You will pay through your ass one way or another ... It's just that they will not send you a bill...but pay you will...

Don't know how they do the statistics, but they should consider Poles leaving Poland and working elsewhere. It all can be manipulated from both sides depending on who currently is in power and shapes the media. Not saying that PIS didn't do it; whoever is in power does it until the public recognizes what's really going on, but it may take a few years.

I have my own observations, for example, now in the middle of the season some restaurants and even hotels in the German seaside area may be closed due to lack of employees, mainly Polish employees. So the job opportunities in Poland can't be that bad.

Poland successfully exported a large amount of unemployment to other EU countries (esp UK, Germany, Ireland)... that's not how it's usually expressed but.... that's what happened.
