You are being very charitable to include the Belgians, though, who basically had one gigantic rubber plantation where they managed to squeeze a huge amount of atrocity into a relatively small time. Impressive work for a county otherwise only notable for paedophile rings, chocolate and a statue of a boy pissing.
But, digression aside, to have had a huge empire and lost it is still an achievement. Look at the Italians. They have done nothing for a very long time except produce sports cars, tacky fashion, fascism and very overrated 'cuisine', yet they're still coasting on the glories of the Roman Empire.
But our languages have Latin in them, and the richest countries in the world speak English. Not German or Polish. So I think we, and even the lazy greaseball mummy's boys in Italy, deserve perhaps a bit of respect. And yes, the USA is DEFINITELY part of the Anglo mir.
