Edward VIII was a bonified Nazi sympathizer,

He didn't of course have the hindsight that we do and fascism was entirely normal among the world's wealthy back in the thirties.

That was only a part of the reason the country got rid of him; mostly it was his general weak character and his attitude to his duties.

The working classes liked him though. Of course the gossip about his private life didn't filter that far down the social scale

No. The late Queen was half Scottish. And in any case, of the 'German' side of her family, some were Danish, some Spanish and some Dutch.
