British - Stupidest nation in Europe

The British do not have the best opinion in Europe. Especially their intellectual potential is often subjected to harsh assessment of research centers. As if that was not enough, once again fall on them further blows. A recent survey showed that in terms of ignorance hardly anyone can compete with them. This time it was tested their knowledge of anatomy. The results are staggering. It turns out that the majority of Britons have no idea where, for example is heart.

Survey, which was conducted among 2,000 people, showed a dramatic lack of knowledge of respondents. About half of them could not correctly indicate the location of the muscular organ, responsible for blood circulation. Subsequent issues have caused them, however, just as many problems. Some of them could not answer the question of how much blood is approximately in the human body or to indicate the number of teeth present in the mouth.

According to the Poles we're the most stupidest.

I'll be honest now - i don't know how many pints of blood, i know we have 32 teeth and i know skin is the biggest organ in our body.

Really? Could you perhaps link to the Daily Mail article in question? From what I see in a DM article about the topic in question

dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2202068/Half-Britons-cluele ss-bodies-unable-point-HEART-is.html
there is no comparative data at all.

And the Polish article makes claims about things like where eggs come from, which the DM article doesn't even mention.

where eggs come from

That's easy, Tescos obviously.

I wouldn't call Brits stupid but I was amazed in London how bad people's geography was.

Could you perhaps link to the Daily Mail article in question?

the article in the first post says something like - "said the "Daily Mail" newspaper" but I know not who did this "study", it sounds like they asked ten year olds.

I find that in London people very often have a good idea where the country they come from is located.

I don't see a point in this discussion... just agree with the point or not... What is it here to discuss?!
Personally I do not read stuff from niewiarygodne.pl because it is just a load of bollocks written so the STUPID young poles can think "damn I am smarter than them!"

secondly to appropriately check the intellligence leels of the country, the goverment should carry out an IQ exam, or something similar...

Cheers

You'd be surprised, as was I, how many people in London don't know about the geopolitical state of Ireland and the six counties, never mind the rest of the world.

that is true, I have a friend in London, very clever, masters degree etc., and she actually takes pride in not knowing where anywhere is, (within the UK)

And yet, when asked on the spot, only one of 35 weekly clients could name all seven states that share a border with Poland. Every single one of these people has a Master's degree. Are they all stupid? No, it's just a matter of not giving that sort of trivia high priority.

The brain is rather wonderful, in that it recognises remote storage. That means if you read something in a book your brain won't necessarily remember the info; but it WILL remember it's in a book, and even on which page sometimes. And as we're forced to process more and more information in our lives there's little wonder people can't answer on-the-spot questions when five seconds with Google will give the answer. There's simply no need to remember that sort of stuff.

There are much better indicators of stupidity than not being able to answer trivia. Reading the Daily Mail is one of them.

richfilth has a point though, knowing the capital cities of the world for example isn't 'clever' it's just trivia.

well, many years ago I was travelling and came across from Calais to Dover. A Brit asked me where I was from and I told him- oh, he said, the colonies.

Huh? Canada hasn't been a colony for decades.

well sometimes people do say that kind of thing as a 'wind up' pip.....
damned colonials!

um...sorry i am just a stupid brit who thinks that britain still has its colonies, but how does Poland share a border with sweden and denmark?

Maritime borders are still borders - he didn't say "land border", but borders.

Pedantic, I know ;)

Pedantic, I know ;)

A true pedant would point out that Poland has two entirely separate borders with Germany.

Yes, this error is intiguing! Is this form just a local variation of the English language or is hudsonhicks only pretending to be British and a native speaker of English? Or is he in reality an exiled Pole who wants to show himself as more British than he really is?

To be British or not to be British - that is a question!

We're already 27 posts in and nobody has posted the youtube video of random Brits being asked question they can't answer, which is quickly to be followed by the Australian comedy that does the same thing in the U.S.A, in retaliation.

You're slipping PF, I expect more of the same, much more. It's like you all have no memory and post the same posts and topics over and over, so much so that Admin had to make an archive just so people who don't know PF and stumble upon it don't know that it has all been pretty much said before.

You are all really letting the side down by not posting the obvious replies.

It is my estimate, by the year 2020, a PF thread will be no more than this: entitled "More of the same" and the first post will read "YES! libcommie" and the next will read "NO! r-wing Nazi" and the last will read "Some r some rn't" and it will be as much effort as anyone needs make.
