Poland in photo riddles - part 2

you are playing with us now. Cruel you.

Actually I'm not, I've no idea what it is! It looks to be high up as I can see lighting.....
The other pic shows a metal tube/pipe with what looks like the remains of concrete casing.

did you mean I take photos in all circumstances and conditions?

No. I meant that I think that sometimes you take deliberately misleading photos for use in your riddles ;)

what are the pics made of?

Digital images are made up of pixels, but I don't really know what you are looking for. Those images don't look as if they've been projected either.

Yes, a street lamp! Well, so we know that object is in the street. Also, consider the material it is made of. What exactly? Now, think, what kinds of objects that size and of that material can be placed in streets or close to them?

a metal tube/pipe with what looks like the remains of concrete casing

Yes, but it is not a common metal and not concrete but sth nobler, namely granite. Besides, look at the site - where is it placed? A hint: the pipe has a hole but it doesn`t go through the whole pipe - it is only about 10 cm deep. Why? What is there in that shallow hole?

you take deliberately misleading photos for use in your riddles ;)

Most of the time - I don`t think about it when I take them. It only applies to about 10% of my photos.

Those images don't look as if they've been projected either.

They were sort of projected, if we use the correct word correctly., namely to visualise sth on a surface. What kind of surface?

I don't know what it is. Looks like it's made of metal and oblong in shape, but that might just be the angle of the photo. Can you travel underneath it?

look at the site - where is it placed?

In the foyer area of somewhere very near to the door. I'm stumped on this one too. I initially it was one of those rope type barriers, but it looks too hefty for that. It's not part of a drinking water fountain either. Looks a bit unsightly being left like that too. I'm going to struggle with these riddles I can tell........

They were sort of projected,

Well they're not holographic images, 3D projection? Are they on canvas?

I see. So, hints will come in handy.

It is not metal. Sth else. It is veeeery big. You can`t travel in a vehicle, it is impossible and even forbidden but you can walk in and out.

Yes, very good, near the door. What kind of facility with such a door can it be - I mean - what is its function? In general, nothing specific now. And also think what can be inside that shallow hole at the top of the pipe. You just mentioned this item in your post.

No, the pics aren`t on canvas. Sth else but now it will be easy coz you know what I meant.

you can walk in and out.

It's not some sort of entrance/exit to a shopping mall is it? Other than that I have no idea.

What kind of facility with such a door can it be

The door doesn't look anything special to me. Museum entrance? Hotel?

You just mentioned this item in your post.

Rope or water then. The only thing that has just occurred to me is that perhaps it's a modern church entrance and that pipe contains holy water? It's a stoup?

it will be easy coz you know what I meant.

It's easy because you know the answer! Some sort of projection screen then. Is it made of fabric?
OP pawian 223 | 24,389
1 Jan 2021 #396
Not a shopping mall but another place which is frequented by crowds of similar size or even larger.

Yes!! a modern church equipped with an artistic holy water stoup. Admit it was quite easy, wasn`t it??? hahaha

No, it isn`t made of fabric. Hint - it is a natural material.

In the meantime:
What do these letters and numbers symbolise?

frequented by crowds of similar size or even larger.

I did think of some sort of arena/stadium but I don't think it's that either.

Admit it was quite easy, wasn`t it???

Once I'd worked out what the point of having water in a vessel that couldn't be drained or filled was, yes!

it is a natural material.

Paper, cardboard? I don't know. I thought of cotton but that would come under fabric.

letters

Is that first blue letter a backwards 'J' ?
OP pawian 223 | 24,389
3 Jan 2021 #399
Paper, cardboard? cotton

None. Paper is already used in traditional pics. Think of sth more durable.

backwards 'J' ?

hahaaha Yes! But don`t ask me why: I can only guess.

So, the first part is behind us. Now, what does it all stand for?

Chemikiem

Think of sth more durable.

I'm running out of ideas :(
Wood or cork?

what does it all stand for?

Does the 'J' stand for something rude?
OP pawian 223 | 24,389
4 Jan 2021 #401
Wood or cork?

Of course wood. Even the colour suggests it. Easy, wasn`t it????

Does the 'J' stand for something rude?

Of course not. How could it be displayed in public?
Hint - it is a very serious topic, though looks like a funny ad.

Easy, wasn`t it????

No! I'd almost given up!

Of course not. How could it be displayed in public?

I don't know where this is, but I did read in an article that the giant letters in Kraków rynek marking Kraków's appointment as Unesco City of Literature, had been rearranged to form something rude. Unfortunately I can't remember which article it was in now, but that is what I had in mind and why I asked. I will have to think about what it means.

Found the article:

" Overnight, the citizens demonstrated their creative spirit by rearranging the letters to form messages of their own (some not fit to be printed)."

No! I'd almost given up!

That would be a wrong approach! Remember - we - intelligent, even brilliant people - never give up.

BTW, there is still an old riddle about that "submarine. Try to guess its material coz you didn`t yet.

No, the letters weren`t in the Main Square, somewhere else in the city. Are you sure you can`t decipher anything in it? JU4U ?

we - intelligent, even brilliant people - never give up.

Now I know why I gave up playing riddles and with blocks; I am not intelligent enough. That finally explains it.
OP pawian 223 | 24,389

I am not intelligent enough.

No, you are intelligent but too lazy to use your intelligence more than occassionally like now. And you should do it - by hard thinking you delay Alzheimer`s disease. I am doing my best to offer you such a great opportunity but you are not interested. Bad.

Secondly, it is visible your mind is untrained coz you are losing debates one by one and posters point out basic flaws in your logic.

Get down to riddles and you will do much better.
Try it: what is this submarine-like object exactly? in post 387.

Plastic? I really have no idea about this.

you can`t decipher anything in it?

Nope :(
OP pawian 223 | 24,389
7 Jan 2021 #407
When we seperate UJ from 4U, will it be easier?

No, plastic is unsuitable a material for such a big structure. But I will tell you coz I can`t stand this pain any longer. It is a church in the shape of a submarine. .

Jagiellonian University For You, probably.

Yes!!! Bravo. The letter J was backward coz students frolicked with it a little.

So, with no old riddles pending, let`s start a new series.

What car is it?

jon357 74 | 22,054
7 Jan 2021 #410
The writing on the back says (I think) Volga. There was certainly a (coveted) brand of car in the Soviet Union called Volga.

I've never seen one in Poland, however there used to be an old Soviet limousine (a Chaika or ZIL) that was always parked just off the top end of Pulawska.
OP pawian 223 | 24,389
7 Jan 2021 #411
Yes, that is Volga but its later version. The one which was used to collect blood for dying Brezhnev, making Polish kids scared shytless.

You can see a part of an object. What exactly?

9 Jan 2021 #412
What exactly?

That particular roundel is exactly the same as on an RAF WW2 submarine spitfire, but that doesn't look much like a plane......
Chemikiem
9 Jan 2021 #414
I didn't think it was likely to be British, but Poland has the red and white chequerboard rather than roundels. On planes anyway. It looks like a model of something.

Yes, and it is natural size. So no, it isn`t a model.

that doesn't look much like a plane...

Then what?

I didn't think it was likely to be British

Look at this:

Chemikiem
11 Jan 2021 #416
Then what?

It's a car. An Aston Martin Vantage to be precise. The car is normally kept in the 303 Squadron Museum near Częstochowa, and is done out in the colours of the Spitfire aircraft the Polish pilots used to fly. I presume it was on loan for the Kraków Air Show.

The picture of it on display is the last photo in the bottom left hand corner.

what is this tank exactly?

I've had enough of tanks! I found one pic of it on a Dziennik Polski website covering the air show, but it didn't say what model it was. I've searched high and low, but I can't any more information, and there are no other clues in your photo to help me. I am sorry but I have failed!!!!
