Why does everyone seem to hate LOT Polish Airlines?

Only cheaper if you use the super Wednesday thing which sells out quickly.

The Crazy Wednesday is only for certain destinations (usually the ones they're having problems selling seats on).

I was checking prices a few days ago and to Heathrow they were around double what BA charged.

I just checked now for a month from today (going out Thursday 24 October, back Tuesday 29): BA 864.58zl, LOT 807.70. I suppose that the crew on BA are good for at least three G&Ts each way, so that would make the flights identical prices but frankly I'm happy to pay more just to avoid using Terminal three (a dire shiit-hole if ever there was one).

You're lucky to find that. On the dates I need to travel, BA in club class were cheaper than LOT in cattle class. LOT in business class to Heathrow was about the same price as a cheaper airline to New York in steerage.

Not lucky: there are lots of flights to LHR in October for less than BA. Even the long week at the start of November: to LHR 31 October (Thursday) and back Monday 4 November is 807.70zl. Were you booking at short notice?

One of the things which I like about the LOT website is the 'when it is cheapest to go where' function: lot.com/pl/en/web/newlot/deal-finder

I've just had a quick look and rather fancy a long weekend in Kiev: out on Friday 15 November, back on Monday 18, 346zl!

Not that short notice - all flights early- mid Oct, booking about a week ago. As I say, LOT (which would have been my first choice due to Star Alliance miles) were in every case much, much dearer. In the end I went with Ryanair to the UK and KLM for the Holland stuff - in the KLM case, it was less than half the price on the dates and times we need to fly.

It's funny how an aircraft that was seen as a rescue for the airline now puts it in even worse situation. Not that LOT is to blame for it though.

They probably did the right thing buying it, but it'll be a long long time before it pays for itself. Even the advertising for it will take the profit from a lot of flights to pay off.

Hi I fly LOT everyweek from Madrid to Warsaw and It is a very punctual airline (so far, finger cross) very efficient in boarding. Probably people complaint because the flight attendants are not extremely young, there is not food in the plane but snakcs, only water is free as refreshments... I cannot come across other things why I would complain about this company.

In Iberia they dont provide even water ;)

They stole a valuable thing from my partner's luggage last month.

No coincidence that the baggage handlers drive Mercedes.

Booked a one-way from Los Angeles to Krakow through Chicago back in June for last day of August. LOT was the cheapest at $850. Lufthansa wanted $3, 000! The Dreamliner was very nice. My only criticism would be that the Polish flight attendants need to be a little more friendly.

Sounds like some travel agent tried to rip you off. At the moment, a ticket from San Francisco to Krakow goes for $1019,- .

I usually find Lufthansa cheaper than LOT too. Air Berlin are cheaper still.

Guys, don't forget my flights were one-way only. Other times when I had flow Lufthansa from Los Angeles to krakow round trip I had usually paid around $1400.

Well, why didn't you book a round trip ticket then if it was that much cheaper? ;)

I hope that Lufthansa takes over. Good food, always courteous, The Munich airport has free coffee/tea and newspaper stands all about. If your flight is delayed they give you vouchers for a bite to eat in the airport. Decently priced tickets. Really, for the last couple of years they have out-classed all other airlines.

I hope that Lufthansa takes over.

They're still OK but I've noticed a drop in standards over the years. Where low-cost airlines go, others follow.

Turkish Airlines (not so great in Business Class but otherwise good - excellent lounges, always on time) would be ideal.

"Noise survey of 50 carriers landing at Heathrow finds Polish airline is the loudest"

Polish planes landing at Heathrow are the loudest the first ever 'league-table' of airline noise reveals today. By contrast, British Airways' short-haul services are the quietest new data released as part of Heathrow's new 'Fly Quiet' programme shows. The worst offender is Polish airline LOT, in last place, just ahead of Israeli carrier national El Al in 49th place and Thai Airways in 48th place.

It seems to be all about the age of their fleet.

I have flown with LOT several times and I have had no problems at all. On European routes food is far better than on other major eu airlines. The only thing that I would caution everyone is their call center could improve on their attitude towards customer care. In my personal opinion,I think when you call them up to gain info on certain matters not regarding reservation and you're not sure how going about getting it done your way, then i feel they (LOT) tend to give a cold shoulder and sometimes don't care attitude. That's how I feel and my opinion may be over rated.

Otherwise they got me from point A to B in a safe professional manner without any delays !
That's it folks. !!!

On European routes food

As of a couple of months ago, the food and drinks on European routes are only in business class.

I like LOT Airlines. Most of the time I am alone in Business. I hate when they bring some undeserving passenger from economy, and have her sit beside me after the lights go out. Also, some locals flying home get drunk as dogs and we have to tolerate them. Real Mutants.

I enjoy the Polish people. The stewardesses are most accomodating. The food is excellent. The Deamliner is a nice touch. Some of the passengers are quite delussional and socially barren. Administration make up averages for the lenght of their flights. I guess it makes them look good domestically. I fly Bussinesss to Warsaw 2 time per year and will continue to do so. Keep up the good work LOT.

How do you know the person is undeserving?

To late to edit and the Internet connection dropped out. Are you sure you've posted in the right thread? There's one about the Dreamliner (dreary plane) and several about LOT. Hard to see the connection between your experiences with LOT and the OP's experience with his wife' scarily.

Perhaps the mods can move to the LOT thread?

Just a couple of questions.

If you're

alone in Business

why would they move an upgrade passenger next to you and if it's

most of the time

why

she

?
And again, if you're

alone in Business

why would the people

drunk as dogs

bother you?

Definitely a troll, yes. Business class on LOT is nothing special anyway. The food's ok, but they aren't exactly generous with the champagne. The seat does make a difference when flying to the U.S. but it isn't Emirates.

Daft to boast about sitting at the front anyway. Very few of the passengers in business have paid their own ticket or would be sitting there if they had to.

Merged: Tips for flying LOT?

Soon, I will travel Chicago-Warsaw-Sofia with LOT. Do you have any tips since I am not Polish and I heard that it is different from American airlines. Also, I read so many comments about how bad they are, but is it really that bad? Does it just seem that bad to Americans just because it is different?

Reasons I hate Lot:

- on time percentage very poor.
- compared to most other star alliance airlines they award significantly less Miles for business class travel. The same segment on Austrian or Lufthansa provides at least 50% more miles.

- they regularly fail to credit frequent flier miles if you are for example having them credit a star alliance partner airline that is not one of the miles and more airlines (Lufthansa group)

- they often do not board on time. For example, if boarding is supposed to be at 7:20, they often (but not always) board at 7:30. So what? Well- again, if you are a business traveler, you are probably waiting in the lounge. You time your walk to the gate to get there a few minutes before boarding and use the priority boarding line. They wait until the very last minute to change the boarding time, so you leave earlier than you need. Again, small thing - but they do it about 75% of the time. However, they don't do it all the time - if they did it all the time frequent travelers would know they just need to add 10 minutes. This is irrespective of aircraft delays.

- their flight status system is inaccurate. Often delays are not reflected. Sometimes it shows delayed but the flight is on time. This is not difficult.

- when you complain, they do not care.

On the positive side - their staff on the planes, at the gates, and at checkin, are usually very nice.

It probably sounds like I'm complaining about some pretty minor things- but- I travel all the time- and when you travel all the time these things make a difference. They are an airline of last resort for me.

I've had that problem too. Seems common not only to LOT but also others on Star Alliance.

1/3 of the Airline Pilots in the USA might just walk off the job instead of getting vaxxed under Xidens mandate. It has already caused 1000s of delays for Southwest Airlines and will create a ripple effect. This guy could screw up a wet dream!

Seems common not only to LOT but also others on Star Alliance.

I have a feeling its going to get a Lot worse...lol

If you think the Airlines are messed just look off the California coast and see the bottleneck of Cargo ships....
