Rumor about racism - will I be fine in Poland as a black International student from Africa?

And the same story again - "famous Polish racism, antisemitism, whatever"... Everybody heard the stories, no one has seen it in action.
Will they kill me, because I black? Will they rob me? I'm betting sick of this kind of questions.
I tell you - It is highly probable that someone will kick your ass badly in Poland. But not because you are black, but because you behave like moron. If you starting your contact with Poland from insulting Polish people on the forum, you probably would end up in the hospital.

Hey Succesor! How would you feel if I ask: Will they eat me in the Nigeria? I heard they eat white people. How would you feel?

Just read some of the comments on here. Quite a few point towards there being racism in Poland. If I were on a forum about Nigeria with people trading recipes on how to cook white meat, I might be a bit nervous as well.

I understand his fear, though. Nigerians have a bit of a reputation as I've known white people to need manned escorts through parts of their country. The Poles are aware of that and Successor may feel that he is entering the lion's den. He shouldn't worry too much. 'Sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me'.

I suppose it all depends where in Poland you'll be. No one in Warsaw seems to be phased by foreigners - they just take it in their stride. Smaller towns may be a different story though. Poznan people (in my experience) seem to react in a rather surprising way to foreigners - a bit taken aback, or reticent, or occasionally hostile. Of course this is not everyone and not all the time, but enough to make you think ... co za wieÅ› :-)

how could u say that,,, nigeria has so many universities. but nigerians like travelling okay. they like exploring the globe,,, that's just nigerian way.don't come up with that thought okay.

Nigeria, in my point of view is one of the most hospitable countries and the world. I've worked and lived in Nigeria for 11 years now, though i'm not from Nigeria. i think Nigeria has so many universities both government and private universities, coz i've been to 29 states in Nigeria. i have so many Nigerian friends in my country and in nigeria,, they are very friendly. don't mind the medias,, am had good time in nigeria and am hoping to go back soonest. try visiting nigeria one day, some day,, nigerians as i've learnt like exploring the globe. i don't know much about poland,, are they friendly?

In Cyprus where I currently study, we have a lot of blacks and we do just fine.

Stay in Cyprus. Greece needs you more than Poland.

Before you come to Poland ,you should learn some jujitsu, aikido, karate or something like that coz you are going to have plenty of opportunities to fight.

i have seen White Pride written on a few walls in my city :) and at least a third of the Poles i know have serious problems with blacks and arab invasion of their country.

and i'm sure opposition against 3rd world people invading Poland will only get stronger.

soon i expect Polish cities to be unsafe for 3rd world people, just like Moscow.
so be warned or find yourself in a Polish hospital one day.

No, but ...

"your city". Your city isn't located in Poland so the signs on the walls shouldn't matter to the original poster or any other black person reading this thread.

you're concerned about the well-being of black people and Arabs?

I don't think he is concerned about them. No one is lol.

He/she asks about the safety situation. I am more than happy to tell this student that anti-immigration sentiments are on the rise, like in most European countries. :)

And Miguel, of course i live in a Polish city. Otherwise i wouldn't write about safety situation in Poland.

You are living in Bogota i suppose?

Jarnowa, U're full of it..U're just a pile of crap! If u're a racist, then be it but dont ignorantly post your own sentiments on behalf of the whole Country.

I lived in Krakow for a year and the only racist fiasco i ever counted was when two pissed polish boys called me names!! It's fair to say this was 4 o'clock in the morning and It must have been one of those demonic moments that take over the Poles after countless rounds of vodka!! - B'se i didnt react to them, believe it or not; 5 minutes down the road, they were fighting each other.

Allowing foreign students/businessmen into Poland is very beneficial to the Economy. Especially now that Poland is part of the EU - these international relations are more important than ever!!

Jarnowa, the immigration thing is far much bigger than you. Poland needs it to sustain growth. Look at how many international corporate companies availing jobs to the poles.

Wake up man - Be civilised!!!

Another lowlife that deliberately uses the r-word to try and stop anti-immigration opinions.
Sorry, you failed like the rest of your brothas.

You are naive if you think that something doesn't exist because you don't see it. I met more than enough Polish people who don't like blacks that come to Poland.

That's utter crap. Poland has millions of students and business men/women, they don't need the money of a few hundred of African students and workers. You make yourself ridiculous. Most 3rd world people in Poland can be missed like a toothache.

Most of these international companies are not founded in 3rd world, so again you are telling lies.

There are 2 sides 2 every coin. Poles benefitted from the opening up of the EU so why can't Africans do likewise? I do hear what jarnowa is saying too but largely as a cautionary tale of what could be.

I live in Toronto- a multicultural fairyland- and I can say it sucks. Therefore I don't want too many n'iggas in Warsaw.

It's nice to experience it but not good to live it. I like going back to my home city as it is very MC but live there and you may find that it's too much that way.

Black students should be ok here but you just never know. Certainly they are in the higher risk category

i lived many years in multicultural Antwerp, then a few years in multicultural Rotterdam and i agree it sucks. the biggest reason that i stay in PL after losing my Polish gf is that i had more than enough of sharing my living space with 3rd world immigrants.

to my disgust, i see more and more of them coming eastwards. :(

Try moving to Finland. There are no immigrants there.

Well, not the ones you despise.

So I suggest you do not go to the Harenda Pub on a saturday night as there is a club for mainly africans. Throwing the N word about may get you in a little trouble.

My atlas tells me that africa is a continent, unlike Poland. Which is a country. A country which is a member of the EU.

We have enough cheap labour in europe already, thank you very much.

My atlas tells me that africa is a continent, unlike Poland. Which is a country.

And yet you refer to Polish people as "The enemy", "Planters" and "toilet cleaners".
You have never worked a day in your life, you were born with a sliver spoon up your hole and that's where it has firmly remains till now.

You disgust me, you say the same things that were said against the Irish historically when we left.

The ''E.U.'' that you don't want to be a part of and now you differentiate about Africa and Poland.
Why is it always the people who were born rich that criticise workers?

Simple, because Africans didn't create the EU. So why let Africans benefit?

Remember, no European living now has something to do with slavery, so we owe them nothing.
