I object to being called a "Rightist"

Too late - the milk has already spilt. :):):

"leftist" always comes with "scum" - as redundant as it is.
Other words that connect well with "leftist": moron, idiot, imbecile,...

Agreed 100%.

I just wonder where the ape sees himself. His response gave me the answer...

Too late - the milk has already spilt. :):):

He is obviously too embarrassed to admit that he has already shown his "Leftist" cards.......

Hmm, Houston, we have a certain problem... or dillema, if you will... (Ms. Civics enters the building :P)

What the hell is this circus all about??

At first I didn't know what that's all about, but now I'm better informed after reading those two articles:

wiadomosci.wp.pl/nielegalnie-niezgodnie-widowiskowo-i-skutecznie-opinia-6975865583102464a

tvn24.pl/biznes/z-kraju/zmiany-w-mediach-publicznych-tvp-polskie-radio-pap-prawnicy-komentuja-st7618696

The issue is as follows - the new government is breaking the law that was created by PiS and deemed unconstitutional by the Constitutional Tribunal in 2016.

So, can a government brake the law that is unconstitutional? I'm no lawyer and have no idea. I'm confused... PiS created such a mess :/

But I think I agree with almost everything that is written here:

notesfrompoland.com/2023/12/21/right-aims-wrong-methods-public-media-takeover-shows-dangers-for-new-polish-government/

My closing thoughts:

The new government could make new law that would replace the unconstitutional one, but it would be vetoed by pro-PiS president Duda. So they would have to wait two years to make that change - until next presidential elections. I know it's sh1tty that for two more years taxpayers money would be wasted on PiS propaganda, but I personally could live with it. I would simply continue boycotting public/PiS media. And can't the government lower the funding for TVP in the meantime?

What do you guys think about this mess?

What do you guys think about this mess?

Simple You and all other Western "democracy" lovers are naive dupes.
You elect actors, not your "legal representatives". They don't represent you. You only get the invoice.
Those actors will later be told how to vote by the ruling mob, not you.

I think they should at least try. This is not a good start.

and deemed unconstitutional by the Constitutional Tribunal in 2016.

Hmm ,that is weird. If the tribunal ruled that way....

cards.......

Mongrel, my cards are purely Polish compared to yours. hahahaha

the new government is breaking

Some experts say they are, others say they don`t. Firstly, there was the proclamation of the Parliament which demands to solve the situation. . And the State Treasury which owns state media companies has to protect its interests when fraud or embezzlement is suspected. NIK blew the whistle about financial abnormalities in TV in October already, even before the elections. It is natural for the gov to deal with the swampy situation.

nik.gov.pl/aktualnosci/funkcjonowanie-i-finanse-tvp.html

The Supreme Audit Office found a violation of the principles of legality, reliability, purposefulness or economy in the expenses of Telewizja Polska SA. The scale of the irregularities, their financial dimension, as well as their nature, which indicates that such actions may be repeated, does not allow the Supreme Audit Office to issue a positive assessment of the state station in the scope covered by the inspection. TVP SA's failure to comply with the principles of spending money is even more important because it is financed mainly from public funds. In 2021-2022, their share in the station's sales revenues was over 60%.

It is natural for the gov to deal with the swampy situation.

So, the financial fraud that the TV company bosses are suspected of has been dealt with by dissolving the old board and appointing a new one. Very simple.

At first I didn't know what that's all about,

If there was anything illegal in their activities, I mean the new gov, they wouldn`t be doing it at all. Do you really think they would be so crazy? No, they had surely consulted an army of lawyers and constitution experts before taking such steps.

Quite frankly I think they did it completely the wrong way. Puts in question all that 'going back to normal'
OP pawian  221 | 24961

Quite frankly

The PiS swamp needs radical drying. Don`t bother about the methods, just check the results - watch the new evening news tonight. Although still basic technologically, it offers the message which Poles have been longing for for 8 years.

Methods vs effects comparison is the best way to deal with such personal doubts.

Puts in question

No, it doesn`t. Cheer up before Christmas - Poland is beautiful again. :):):)

Your comment makes no sense in this particular case. The new Polish government is actually doing what they promised during the election campaign - de-PiSification of the public media. The issue is the way they're doing it. Whether they should be doing it in this particular way or not.

So, Novichok, how about you provide some constructive info?

What would it look like in the US? Let us assume that the US Congress passes a law that goes against the US Constitution. What then? Is there a body that decides whether a given law is in accordance with the Constitution or not?

I think they should at least try. This is not a good start.

True. I agree.

If there was anything illegal in their activities, I mean the new gov, they wouldn`t be doing it at all.

Pawian, read those three links I provided in my post #93 when you have more time.

Some experts say they are, others say they don`t.

Yeah, that's why I'm confused.

Hmm ,that is weird. If the tribunal ruled that way....

Lenka, seriously? xD What's "weird" about it? We're talking about PiS here... You think that why anti-PiS protesters were holding placards with "Constitution" written on them? Because PiS was violating Polish Constitution...

Constitution

If the tribunal ruled that way....

That was still the legal Tribunal in 2016. Later on PiS added their 3 illegals to it.
Cheer up coz I see you are feeling down again. Life is beautiful.

Pawian, read those three links I provided in my post #93 when you have more time.

Yes, I had read them before, the very hour those articles appeared. And they corroborate exactly what I said a few posts ago:

Some experts say they are, others say they aren`t.

E.g.,
Haste is not always a good advisor - said Ryszard Piotrowski, professor at the University of Warsaw. According to the lawyer, decisions regarding changes in public media raise some doubts. . Tomasz SiemiÄ…tkowski, professor at the Warsaw School of Economics.has a different opinion - The Minister of Culture and National Heritage had the right to do so without question - he said in an interview with TVN24.

You have probably have guessed by now whose opinion I prefer to stick to. :):):)

Methods vs effects comparison is the best way to deal with such personal doubts.

So, when liberal opposition wants to directly influence courts to do their bidding it's in the name of the rule of law therefore it's fine?
OP pawian  221 | 24961
22 Dec 2023   #105
to directly influence courts

It is impossible and you know about it. Courts in Poland are independent. PIS tried to change it by brutal force and intimidation but failed. Do you think anybody else will be more successful???? :):):):)

PIS tried to change it by brutal force and intimidation

"Democratic" coalition promised new standards and yet here we are. If someone commits a murder it does not mean you can become vigilante and kill the murderer.
OP pawian  221 | 24961
22 Dec 2023   #107
kill the murderer.

Even in self defence?? I thought nationalists fully support this concept. :):):)

You are embittered coz nationalists got only 7% and are meaningless in the new Parliament. :):):) First deal with the mess in your own ranks, then try to think how you can serve Poland better. Coz now, you are completely useless and even harmful when you damage good extinguishers. hahahahaha

Even in self defence

I have a question: why Obajtek is still in Orlen instead of... somewhere else?
OP pawian  221 | 24961
22 Dec 2023   #109
Because they are still looking for an experienced competent manager to replace him???? Did you expect that Tusk would immediately appoint his auntie or cousin to the position like PiS had done hundreds of times before????
Korvinus  2 | 561
22 Dec 2023   #110
still looking for an experienced competent manager to replace him

Why haven't he been looking before the election?

appoint his auntie or cousin to the position like PiS

nationalists got only 7%

While PiS won with 35% and KO with 30% in order to rule started handing out bribes to the left and more to the left. Several new ministries and appointing people to positions in state-owned companies, in various commissions, etc., is bribery and cannot be argued with.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAAH , why do they want to abolish CBA then?
OP pawian  221 | 24961

to abolish CBA then

Impossible. CBA remains but has a new boss. I would get interested in the new boss`s person if I were you. :):):)

TVP shutting down, possibly CBA. No Police chief? I am just waiting for the moment of the hunt on the new military formations I guess.

IPN?

pawian, should I expect burning of churches? Priests carried out in lorries or cameras on the street?

I am just waiting for the moment of the hunt

Are you also in the blue mood before Christmas??? Come on, if there are too many of you to offer a shoulder to cry on, I will need to borrow more shoulders from other posters. :):):)

Cheer up, life is beautiful. Believe me.

should I expect burning of churches?

No, you could expect such events under PIS. When the bolsheviks are gone, the churches will stay as they are. After PiS rule, though, they will remain empty and will be sold out to become shopping or community centres. You can thank those gangsters and the black mafia for leading to that situation.

Not shutting down.

PO and PSL coalition was in power for 8 years before already. Were such things happening back then? No? So why are you writing such nonsense?

@pawian

they will remain empty and will be sold out to become shopping or community centres.

I guess that's a dream come true for the likes of you

Regarding unnerving, that wasn't my plan nor intention. Just sharing my thoughts. Think what you want however, it's of little concern to me.

o2.pl/informacje/slonce-wyjrzalo-dla-policji-jest-nowy-komendant-glowny-6976460208499200a

At least some good news in all this chaos, hopefully competent.

So why are you writing such nonsense?

I am being pessimistic, hopefully groundlessly. It's just too bleak looking. It just doesn't look good at all

It was - subliminal. Ha!

Think what you want however,

I always do. :):):)

t's of little concern to me.

I highly doubt it. :):):)

It just doesn't look good at all

Cheer up - life is beautiful. Get out of your basement at last and go for a walk in the snowy park now in the evening - you will feel much better.

Yes you are correct, that lamp post in that beautiful park looks like the perfect place to hang you from. :)
