Hmm, Houston, we have a certain problem... or dillema, if you will... (Ms. Civics enters the building :P)
What the hell is this circus all about??
At first I didn't know what that's all about, but now I'm better informed after reading those two articles:
wiadomosci.wp.pl/nielegalnie-niezgodnie-widowiskowo-i-skutecznie-opinia-6975865583102464a
tvn24.pl/biznes/z-kraju/zmiany-w-mediach-publicznych-tvp-polskie-radio-pap-prawnicy-komentuja-st7618696
The issue is as follows - the new government is breaking the law that was created by PiS and deemed unconstitutional by the Constitutional Tribunal in 2016.
So, can a government brake the law that is unconstitutional? I'm no lawyer and have no idea. I'm confused... PiS created such a mess :/
But I think I agree with almost everything that is written here:
notesfrompoland.com/2023/12/21/right-aims-wrong-methods-public-media-takeover-shows-dangers-for-new-polish-government/
My closing thoughts:
The new government could make new law that would replace the unconstitutional one, but it would be vetoed by pro-PiS president Duda. So they would have to wait two years to make that change - until next presidential elections. I know it's sh1tty that for two more years taxpayers money would be wasted on PiS propaganda, but I personally could live with it. I would simply continue boycotting public/PiS media. And can't the government lower the funding for TVP in the meantime?
What do you guys think about this mess?
