A green Germany would be independent from russian gas and oil.

yes sure.. good luck!

stick to coal for now, build some atomic power plants, utlize some hydropower, start to usie geothermal energy, give up all those windmills are crap and not working and not green, photovoltaic systems are of limited use in our climat so only good as a backup.

That all for Poland. you go green by all means but I have heard you just bulid another coal power plant and cut off an acient forest to get to some coal deposits.

I think you don't keep up with reality, dreaming must be nice.

build some atomic power plants

This is obvious.

windmills are crap

Perhaps in Poland however those European countries with more coastline and sea are doing very well with them.

but I have heard you just bulid another coal power plant

While pressuring Poland to close theirs and trying their damndest to stop the U.K., whose poorest regions are literally sat on high quality coal from opening mines.

A very good article here by Nick Cohen which talks about paying for gas in roubles among other things:
" Nevertheless, war is a time of brutality, and Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky was telling no more than the brutal truth when he said Germany was paying Putin $1 billion a day in "blood money" to fund the destruction of his country. To no avail. Germany would rather protect its economy than protect Ukrainian lives, a cynicism which would be easier to bear if it were not accompanied by so much moralizing. And, indeed, by so much corruption."

$1 billion a day is nonsense.

Can you expand on that? Are you accusing President Zelenskiy of lying?

All of Germany's trade with russia is 60 billions a year and no more. Import and export.

60 billions a year

That doe that does not include the 100 billion a year for hydrocarbons.
OP Alien 20 | 5,042

No, 60 billions in trade a year and no more. Trade with Poland has a volumen of 200 billions a year for example.

Russia is receiving 1bn

Evil. For oil and gas only.

60 billions in trade a year and no more

No. This does not include the oil and gas that the shamed state germany is paying russia for. Ae they still paying in roubles?

Who or what is Uniper?
Who is the chairman of Rosneft?

@Tacitus
Trade volumen of all EU states with russia is about 150billions Euro a year(2021) only import. That makes less than 0,5 bln a day.

Jon:
No, your info is false.

So should anyone pay roubles for gas?

@Tacitus

Sorry mate, but you just cannot defend Germany here.
Germany placed far too much trust in Russia.

Just own up, be honest for a change!

Merkel messed up big time and now the rest of Europe no longer trusts you to lead the EU.

Not that us Brits ever trusted you anyway.... why do you think we left your beloved German Empire?, Sorry, EU.....

Better not to pay in rubles, but is this really so important. Much better would be not to pay at all.
jon357 74 | 22,060
4 May 2022 #77
but is this really so important

Yes. It strengthens the rouble and helps their economy.

Much better would be not to pay at all.

This is very true. All trade should cease with them until they leave Ukraine.

Its fine that Poland help Germany goes down, while Poland can buy oil from Hungary and Serbia.

But Crow, Gazprom has warned previously that it would retaliate against nations that supplied its gas to Poland.
Do you Serbs want to give Putin the middle finger ?

But will the ubermensch krauts force themselves to swallow their pride and buy gas from the stupid polish and batlic savages?

I'm afraid they aren't going to have much choice.

If a country or countries dominate economically, why not Poland?

DAMN GOOD QUESTION !
When is it going to be Poland's turn for a change and why not ?

There just is no alternative....

But there is.......
Despite Russia halting natural gas deliveries last week, Poland is still getting supplies.
A Gazprom spokesperson said buyers in Italy and France are ordering Russian gas and sending it to Poland.
Money talks and b.s. walks.

This is true, demonstrating again that this bunch of right wing nut jobs are all fur coat and no knickers.

They take from the EU and contribute nothing...see their refusal to take refugees from places their army was occupying. Now they demand the EU pay them to care for "the right kind of refugees" hypocrites.

The Baltic pipeline from Norway will be active some time in the fall. LNG shipments are contracted from the US. The price of gas will be higher, but it will be a kick in the balls for Putin when the rest of the EU follows suit.

Looks like another North Sea economic boom. Pretty good for North Africa too.

I wonder who is still paying in roubles, if anyone is.

Probably Orban, he's good at sucking up to Putler.

Germany placed far too much trust in Russia

True. But misplaced trust is different from malicious intent.

why do you think we left

Because you fell for a campaign based on lies and bigotry which was heavily supported by Russia. The EU is probably better off long-term without you, but it is still regrettable that British voters handed Putin this win.

Do you Serbs want to give Putin the middle finger ?

No middle finger neither to Poland, neither to Russia. We are Serbs.

Besides, we have contract with Russia. We are military neutral and didn`t impose sanctions on Russia. In no way we didn`t harm Russia and join NATO and EU hysteria against Russia. Our relation to Poland is internal Slavic thing, same as our relation to Russia. To Ukraine, too.

Probably Orban, he's good at sucking up to Putler.

Hungary and Serbia coordinate in this madness. We are rational and objective.

You are Serbs, you give the middle finger to everyone.
And that is why you are universally hated. You are just as stupid as the Russians.
Learn diplomacy, tact, honesty and sticking to your word without lying.

If you and your barstuard brothers, the Russians, had done this, we would not be in the mess we are currently in.
Stupid Russians and stupider Serbs are the problem.

Looks like another North Sea economic boom.

Should we be buying LNG stock then, joun ?
It's already nearly doubled in the last year.
But to answer the threads question the answer is a flat out "NO".

Stupid Russians and stupider Serbs are the problem

Very very much so, and both may find their economies tanking sooner and more brutally than they think.

Hard to believe that anyone is paying for anything in roubles at the moment.

@Miloslaw
Indeed, and of course the issue here is very much a binary one. Fund russia or don't fund russia.

Poland has decided not to and has put human values over everything else, something which is both the right thing to do and which shows a resolve and a solidarity with Ukraine that certain other countries do not.

Poland do not pay in rubles but still buy russian gas in revers over Jamal pipeline from Germany and they pay in rubles.( Not really in rubles, they pay in Euros and some russian firm change it for them in rubles).
