Moving PO away from the leading role in the government is a serious thing for Poland rather than the joke.

As long as they're not living and paying taxes in Poland it doesn't mean much. People with no direct experience of a PiS government are very much in favor of them.

If somebody stands for election in the UK and gets less than a certain percentage of the vote (I think it is 3 percent) then he loses the admin fee that he pays for standing in the election (a few thousand pounds..) This fee is his deposit (returnable if he puts up a good showing at the polls).

As in:

"The Conservative member for Bigtown was re-elected, and the candidate for the Beer Lovers party lost his deposit.."

That way PO would have lost their deposit too, nobody would have voted for these bunch of crooks in the UK.

Those predicitng a major weaeknign of the złoty due to PiS' win were bitterly disappointed. The dollar was fetching 3.87 zł during the pre-election weekend and has fallen to 3.85 the day after. I had heard predictions of up to $1 = 4 zł and some expected to maek a killing.

Anyway, waiting for results... If those votes from London don't come in by 21:00, then it seems the UK vote is disqualified and Kukiz will have lost a considerable amount of votes...

I just heard the results were sent in but then were sent back because of some mistake/s, whatever they might be. Now they have to make corrections and resend them again. Of course the results from London not making it back would only help out PO, as Kukiz and PiS are likely to get far more votes than them. How interesting.

Rumour has it that Ryanair are laying on extra flights to London to make some ones from the expected exodus from Poland.

They should do some the other way as well as some people left Poland only because of PO's rule. They may want to return now.

Doubtful, WielkiPolak, since the last wave of emigration occurred when PiS were in office for a while and the returns started after they were voted out and the economy started to pick up.

Not having a credible economic programme or in fact being in any way business friendly means we can look forward to more people having to uproot their lives to escape the turnip taliban.

The idea of Poles returning to Poland because of the PiS victory is absurd. More will leave now.

Exactly. Middle managers in state-controlled concerns are already tidying up their CVs. People doing manual jobs will of curse be hit worse, as ever.

I think if you can bad mouth PiS a bit more they will have to repeat the election, this forum is observed by millions and has hell of credibility.

Also Google the phrase "the lowest form of wit". Though even a fool sometimes gets it almost right, and yes Wulkan, you almost got it right since there may well have to be an election should some political camp decide to go it alone during the term of office.

I'm hoping they do go it alone, that way they either own their success or failure and not be able to blame it on anyone (ha ha ha ha, like they won't blame other people no matter what happens.... I slay me)


When did they say anything about creating jobs? They're about big government handouts, not job creation.

PiS has not only for the first time attarrted a hgiehr percent of young people, towndwellers and voters with higher education than PO but has actually reversed the results of the Partitions!Yes, for the first time not only the poorer eastern and southern regions (formerly the Russian and Austrian partitions) voted for PiS. Only two provinces in the NW (regained territories known for their rootless hotch-potch population) was won by PO, whilst the remaining 14 went to PiS. Also thanks to PiS for the first time since 1989 the Sejm is not tainted with ex-commies and assorted PRL hangovers. Long live PiS!!!

No, not a figment of anyone's imagination. The ex-commies always fared well in the regained territories (ziemie odzyskane). Go back to previous elections if you don't believe it. They are also known for their lukewarm religiosity and Polish tradition.
