Why doesn't Poland start by giving reparations to Jews in part by making its archives more accessible, including through JewishGen and FamilySearch? Not enough Poles told the Germans (or the Romanovs, whom led up to Nazi-equivalent Stalin) to go away!

They're American-based online things. Poland has strict privacy laws however no archives related to historical births, deaths and marriages are concealed. There are many records online where those records have survived destruction in wars.

Hard to see how this is related to the ridiculous claim by PiS for payments from a neighbouring state.

@pawian, they can't do anything with records that would help Jews make aliyah or help direct Holocaust survivors pursue further reparations if they so chose to pursue such. PiS never can take that away from us.

Most holocaust survivors are either long dead or had more then enough time to recieve money. Besides, it was meant for Polish citizens that survived the holocaust as a form of support.

Why would anyone outside of Poland, not having Polish citizenship. Not even seeking one, most likely for that reason also spits on Poland even recieve a penny?

There's already a (sometimes complicated( dialogue about property restitution etc and several different issues involved and introducing irrelevant things into a discussion about the PiS claims against Germany moves nothing forward.

It's a discussion for the relevant governments at a diplomatic level.

I only have 2 questions: 1 - What is the total damage Germany caused? 2- Have they paid for following their lunatic Hitler?

If they haven't paid, then it seems fair for Poland to get compensated for life and property losses, even if it was in the past. All the people killed by Nazis did not have a chance to have or enjoy their posterity or to live their life spans. That alone has to be worth billions.

But, realistically, I highly doubt Germany is going to give Poland any money. It can, however, be a strong ally to help defend Poland if Russia were to attack. Where would Poles run to? Germany. They can only go south, north or west. Germany being the closest with the biggest military power, i.e., USA military. I doubt they would flee to a weak country.

Get real......check out how Germany responded to the Russian invasion of Ukraine....the only friends Poland has are the USA and UK.

Don`t be silly. Germany and Poland are in NATO, while Ukraine isn`t. Simple. Of course Germans would come to aid in case of RuSSia`s attack on Poland coz they certainly don`t want RuSSists at their borders. We are for them the same buffer zone against RuSSists as Ukraine is for Poland.

Idiots are people who say they take a keen interest in politicks but have no clue how that thing called politicks works. There is no futile claims, those are valid claim at minimum they make a dent in Germany claims to moral leadership in Europe. It is something they would like to have and there is no reason for Poland to let them. They are not qualified.

Nobody in Germany is still talking about those claims. They have been dismissed as obsolete and legally invalid and that is it. Partly because our government understands that needlessy stoking resentment with an ally at a time of war is just stupid.
