Probably the beat down of Turks in the battle of Vienna.
THE ARMY OF POLAND - THE REALITY
and military virtue in Polish history?
I nominate our two Polish Thermopylae's. Both losses, but both examples of tremendous bravery and utter dedication to Poland.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Zadw%C3%B3rze
The battle was a disaster for the Polish forces defending Zadwórze, in effect they were almost annihilated. However, the 11 hour long fight halted the advance of the whole 6th Cavalry Division for almost 24 hours. This allowed for the strengthening of the defences of Lwów
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Wizna
The symbol of Polish defence was a Captain Władysław Raginis who committed honorable suicide by throwing himself on a grenade.

Or the battle of Grunwald - we'll be celebrating the 600th anniversary of the battle this year.
Sometimes I show the online English version of Pravda to friends so we can laugh at the spin that Ruskies put on current events. Its better than the Late Show with David Letterman.
Democracy or authoritarianism... What's the difference between those two in your book?
I can laugh at many things they write in Russian media too, however I don't see any reasons for you not to equally laugh at your own media.
Let me guess - something connected with Serbia, right? ;)
not necessarily
i really want to know. What would one average ordinary Pole mention as example of individual Polish military bravery in whole Polish history, if somebody ask him?
Probably the beat down of Turks in the battle of Vienna.
but, is there any individual (except King Sobieski himself) that was remembered by his bravery in that battle
Then, what is biggest Polish national hero from WWII, by opinion of modern Polish historians and by opinion of Polish people?
Or the battle of Grunwald - we'll be celebrating the 600th anniversary of the battle this year.
individual from that battle? Zawisha Czarny maybe? Somebody else, too?

interesting
Zawisza Czarny
yes. For sure one of greatest sons of Poland. He is seen as national hero of Serbs, too. There is his grave and monument in Serbia, near Golubac (Pigeon) fortress. After killed him and mutilated, Turks took his head and still hold it in Turkey

2- Why the hell doesn't Poland have mandatory conscription anymore?!
Well, Britain and Germany no longer have conscription.
It's actually quite expensive. I know some guys who, a few years ago, weren't called up because the army didn't have the money.

It's actually quite expensive.
And very inefficient - you can be assured that professional troops will fight, whereas you can't rely on conscripts to actually fight.

Germany still has conscription....

Olders: Janek, Szarik and Rudy 102 or maybe just Hans Closs
Medium: Kmicic and Pan Wołodyjowski
Youth: Geralt of Rivia
;-)

That was not my experience I fought beside conscripts and they gave a good account of themselves. It's amazing how you will fight when someones trying to kill you. I'm still trying to work out if Crow was a soldier in the Serbian War, like him I feel Serbia had a raw deal............. I am also surprised nobody has mentioned China as a potential aggressor.

China has nothing to gain.

Bratwurst Boy, I have no idea how the quote was attributed to you, the statement was made by delphiandomine.

Is it untrue? Could you share some information about his head after his death with us? If he is lying it should be easy to back with some proper information no?
Mr Grunwald
He died while fighting against Turks is true. Rest is a historical story (especially where his body now but most probably not inside Turkish border since the war wasn't somewhere near current borders) neither you (or your sick friend) nor us can proove what exactly happened.
Give us back his head, Turks.

Give us back his head, Turks.
If we have got it is yours Filios. But we don't. Sorry.
You lie? :(
Then tell us where is it in Turkey. Nobody knows.
Not if the yanks defaulted on their debts. :)
Never going to happen, that's the beauty of fiat money :)
The US will just impoverish its citizens...

Why didn't Germany invade Switzerland in World War II?
Every able bodied man in Switzerland is in the reserve military, has a rifle and is trained to use it.
This is what Poland needs to do. Every able bodied man needs to have a rifle and be trained to use it. Citizen armies are much better than professional armies in a democracy. Poland can't depend on NATO or the United States. If Poland would have done this 200 years ago there wouldn't have been any partition. You're 200 years late, but it's not too late.

Why didn't Germany invade Switzerland in World War II?
They took care of the Nazi money/Gold....they did nothing to disturb them and were willing to help and go along.
There was no reason to invade them!
Poland can't depend on NATO or the United States.
Problem is that Poland can't trust Poles. If there is no external enemy, things don't work right in the country.
Must be why our GDP was the only one growing in Europe in the past 2 years, cause things dont work right in the country, we love arguing convex that doesnt mean we dont make things tick while shouting at each other.
