THE ARMY OF POLAND - THE REALITY

The Polish army should watch and learn from the Ukrainian example.

You don't need an army "to watch". The Polish army should be in Ukraine fighting Russians. I read that Ukraine is winning so it won't take long to finish them off.

It's high time to get down from the High Moral Ground and do something really impressive for a change.

No, the Polish army is supposed to defend Poland as well as the Polish government.

only the US swamp and US taxpayers. Part A and Part B - like epoxy glue.

These are some conspiracy theories. Do you also believe in aliens?
But let's get back to the subject of the Polish army, which is certainly developing rapidly at the moment.

Shopping spree for the Polish army continues. After tanks from USA and South Korea, fighter jets from South Korea, mobile artillery from South Korea, attack choppers from the US, HIMARS launchers from the US,. etc,. Polish army is buying two second hand AWACS planes from Sweden. There hasn`t been such armament in the Polish forces yet and we have depended solely on NATO means for air inteligence.

Is Hungary as stupid as Poland? Is Albania at risk because it is not on a "shopping spree"?
I thought that Poland is in NATO and covered by A5 and the full power of three nuclear members...With that as a deterrent, why does Poland need tanks?

I thought that Poland is in NATO and covered by A5 and the full power of three nuclear members...

As you've made clear on numerous other threads, NATO can't even protect it's own borders let alone Poland's. It's best to pretend it doesn't exist and then prepare accordingly.

It's best to pretend it doesn't exist and then prepare accordingly.

Then act according to the threat. It will come from the West, not the East - by a million migrant cuts, not the Russian army.

Soon, Poland will need the Russian army to repel the real invasion.

I see, so your view is that we need to team up with Putin to repel USA influence from Europe? I can see where you are coming from, it's just that Putin teaming up with Iran, North Korea, China and Chechnya troubles me a bit with this strategy. I don't think these places are going to be very sympathetic to stopping mass immigration into Europe, quite the opposite in fact...

With that as a deterrent, why does Poland need tanks?

It is this damn policy of decency of NATO. Abstaining from nuclears as long as possible. Instead, NATO should declare that the slightest attack against one of its members would entail a nuclear retaliation. We would save a lot of money on conventional weapons in result.

But no. The Westerners are just too decent.

No. Poland will one day team up with Russia to repel the invasion of the filthy useless Muslim and African scum nobody wants.
That is why the EU is trying its very best to spread the manure. If they were assets, the West would keep them.

The Westerners are just too decent.

The Polish Army Day was an opportunity to recall what modern equipment Poland already has and will receive in the future.

Bobko, enjoy abundant open source info. You will get a bonus from your boss!! hahaha

Ground forces are more exciting so let`s start with them:

One of the latest acquisitions of the Polish Ministry of Defense is the Abrams tank produced in the United States. In April 2022, for USD 4.7 billion (approx. PLN 19 billion), the Ministry of National Defense ordered 250 such vehicles in the latest M1A2 SEPv3 version. Deliveries are scheduled for 2024-26.

In January 2023, the ministry signed another contract for Abrams - this time 116 vehicles in the older M1A1 version, from US Marine Corps` stock. They were to quickly fill the gap left by ex-Soviet tanks, which we gave Ukraine in a large, although officially unknown number, so that it would have something to fight with Russia.

Under the latter contract, deliveries began this year. At the end of June, a ship that brought the first 14 tanks moored in Szczecin . They went to the 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade in the Wesoła district. From there they all went to the parade.

According to the announcement from June, another batch of Abrams tanks (42 tanks) is to be delivered to Wesoła at the turn of August and September, and the next batch (60 tanks) - by the end of the year.

Contracts for South Korean K2 tanks were signed by the ministry in July and August 2022. They provided for the delivery of 180 vehicles manufactured in Asia for USD 3.37 billion (approx. PLN 13.5 billion). Then, from 2026, the production of tanks in the new K2PL version is to be launched in Poland.

The new, Polish configuration of the South Korean tank remains in the sphere of plans for the time being. The fact is, however, that the deliveries of subsequent batches of K2 started in December 2022. By June, a total of 28 wagons arrived on ships. That's it for now, further deliveries are planned for 2024 and 2025.

All delivered K2s went to the 20th Mechanized Brigade in Bartoszyce, specifically to the tank battalion in Morąg (Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship). Soldiers from this unit paraded along Wisłostrada in the strength of a company, i.e. 14 tanks. That's half of what we currently have.

The Leopard 2 tankis a construction known in the Polish Army for a long time and now - after the deliveries to Ukraine of post-Soviet T-72s and their Polish modernization PT-91 Twardy - probably the most numerous. In total, we acquired about 250 such vehicles from Bundeswehr stock in two tranches in the first and second decade of the 21st century. A novelty for the general public was the debut of the Leopard 2PL variety at the parade. This modernized version was created by the forces of the Polish defense industry in cooperation with the German industry. The work is significantly delayed, but from May 2020 the modernized units are sent to the army. At the end of last year, 45 tanks were delivered. We saw 14 of them, i.e. the entire company, on Wisłostrada.

The parade was also attended by Leopard 2s in the A5 version - eight of over a hundred owned. However, there was no oldest version of A4. It is the Leopard 2 company in this variant that we promised to give to Ukraine at the beginning of the year.

In 2019, the Ministry of National Defense ordered the M142 HIMARS self-propelled rocket launchers from the USA. The contract was worth USD 414 million (approx. PLN 1.7 billion) and included 20 launchers (18 for the combat unit and two for training) plus, among others, ammunition, training, spare parts.

Last year the Ministry of Defense expressed its willingness to purchase as many as 486 HIMARSs, including 18 on American chassis and 468 launchers alone to be installed on Polish Jelcz trucks. In February, the US State Department agreed to sell them for a price of up to $10 billion . Negotiations for this contract are currently underway.

So far, the first launchers ordered in 2019 have arrived in Poland. In May, we received seven pieces in two batches. We saw six of them, manned by soldiers of the 1st Masurian Artillery Brigade, during the parade on Wisłostrada, the seventh stood next to the honorary tribune.

The 155-millimeter K9A1 self-propelled howitzersare - like the K2 tanks - the work of the South Korean defense industry and the fruit of agreements signed in July and August 2022. They provided for the division of the contract into stages. In the first one, we ordered 212 guns for USD 2.4 billion (approx. PLN 9.6 billion) with deliveries spread until 2026. After that, the modernized version of the K9PL is to be produced in Poland.

At the moment, the first stage is under implementation. Deliveries from South Korea began in December 2022 and, as recently calculated by the editor Marek Świerczyński of the "Polityka" weekly, 48 machines are already in Poland. 14 K9 howitzers participated in the parade on Wisłostrada.

At the parade in Warsaw, we also saw eight Krab self-propelled gun-howitzers armed- like the K9 - with 155-millimeter guns. What is the proportion of all Krabs in the Polish Army, it is not entirely known. After the Russian invasion, we handed over our Krabs to Ukraine. The Ministry of National Defense does not provide the exact number. Unverifiable unofficial information says up to 72 pieces.

Meanwhile, in 2016, the Ministry of National Defense ordered 96 Krabs from Huta Stalowa Wola for PLN 4.6 billion, with the delivery date until 2024 (in 2020, two more cannons were purchased - for the training center). However, after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the Ministry of National Defense ordered 48 more Krabs for PLN 3.8 billion. Deliveries are scheduled for 2025-27.

For the first time, spectators saw elements of the air defense system at the parade, including the Patriot anti-missile system, which the military received at the end of 2022, thanks to the contract signed in March 2018. The contract was worth USD 4.75 billion (approx. PLN 19 billion), which makes it the largest arms deal in Poland's history. For this money, two Patriot batteries were ordered in the program code-named Wisła by the Ministry of National Defense.

Now on the table is a second, three times bigger order for Patriots from the USA. In June, the Americans initially valued them at $15 billion . It is known that the final price will be lower, but by how much remains to be seen, because negotiations are underway.

Few people know that 30 years ago Poles were planning to construct their own main battle tank of the 3rd generation. It was called Gorilla initially. I felt so proud then. :):):)

The plans proved futile coz there were more important needs.

main battle tank of the 3rd generation.

There was another prototype later, PL 01. It looked brilliant for those times, but as usual, nothing came of it.

evacuate Poles

If you look closer, you will see them packed on the plane like herrings in the barrel. But they didn`t complain - safety or life, that was the choice.

@Cargo pants, are you calling for the genocide of all Muslims?

From another thread:

General Staff resignations today - at least 2 top Generals.

Those are the Chief of General Staff, Gen. Rajmund Andrzejczak and the head of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces, Gen. Tomasz Piotrowski:
