PO-PiS again neck and neck

Expats are known for their atrocious Polish, aren't they?

Maybe in your social circles. Not that I am or ever have been an expat here.

So, perhaps you can suggest some reasons for PiS having a declining share of the vote in every election they've participated in.

I thought you were a remember of PF's famous (or infamous) expat quartet. Are you a Polish-born ethnic Pole? More than 2 years remain before the next election and PiS will mobilise loads of support by then. Each gaffe, stumble and blunder by PO will turn more voters away from them.

BTW what or who is Eridu?
jon357 74 | 22,060

'Loads more support'? Given that their electoral support has consistently declined there's nothing to suggest that the trend is being reversed.

As for ethnicity - that's an irrelevance, and any 'infamous quartets' exist only in your mind, as does any revival of the PiSuarzy's declining electoral fate.

Eridu? Google it.

I thought it was something ancient but googlin it convinced me that you're taking the p*ss...
A bit of humour never hurts.

Actually very real. I live here in PL but work very near there. A longer than average commute.

So how do you explain the decline in PiS's electoral results?
Polonius3 993 | 12,357
14 Jun 2013 #157
Past electoral results. The tables have turned as recent surveys show. The best is yet to come, baby!

I seem to remember somebody saying that exact same thing before the last election, perhaps you have forgotten who that was.

Surveys don't win elections. Electors do. And PiS has been on a downward slide for years.

Neither does DuckBoy.

Palicoot & Circus 3.

More mud-slinging?!

The best is yet to come, baby!

PiS will disappear completely? You promise? Yay!

More good news! The latest poll shows: PiS 39, PO 32, SLD 14, Palikot 5 and PSL 3.

The bad news is that Palikot is in and potential coalition partners PSL and SP are out. And to think not long ago someone said 'it'll ever happen!' when I predicted a 37 or 38% win for PiS. We'll see!

Since when is an opinion poll the same as an election result?
jon357 74 | 22,060
15 Jun 2013 #164
It isn't. Ever. The various polls done in PL that suggest the PiSuarzy have a chance never translate into electoral success.
sobieski 106 | 2,118
15 Jun 2013 #165
Exactly. I remember some years ago during the election campaign, when all the commercial radio stations in Warsaw were urging the people to go to vote until the very last moment the polling stations were open. It was the same campaign during LK told Monika Olejnik that "he would get her". This will no doubt happen again.

PiSuarzy

Class at its best innit? Why is it that PiS-bashers object so much to Gronkowiec, but use gutter-level epithets for those they disagree with. what's good for the goose is good for the gander!
sobieski 106 | 2,118

I see you still are not able to write Warsaw's City President's name correctly.

Perhaps that's because the expansion PiSuarzy is in common use here to describe the failed PiS regime and their nuttier supporters whereas some of the "gutter-level epithets" that you come out with (Madumna, Lady Zgaga, Gronkowiec, Palikmiot, itd) are nothing more than the product of your own unhealthy imagination.

It was the same campaign during LK told Monika Olejnik that "he would get her".

And no doubt he would have had PiS been re-elected then. This is - again - why PiS will never win in the current format.

More good news! The latest poll shows: PiS 39, PO 32, SLD 14, Palikot 5 and PSL 3.

Even more of a disaster for PiS - 39% of the vote and yet losing to a PO/SLD/Palikot confidence/supply coalition. Palikot's no idiot - he would take a ministry (perhaps of youth and culture) and use it to great effect in exchange for his support, and PiS simply could not go into coalition with partners that were ex-Communists. All good!

And I wouldn't write Palikot off - they've been doing a hell of a lot of grass roots work recently.

Rightly so, Public TV presenter have no business take sides on TV in an election especially one with Olejnik background.

A TV presenter or any other prominent person has every right to air their views.

Really?

So given that TV Trwam was incredibly, heavily biased towards PiS, do you agree that they have no business to do so?

Olejnik had every right to air her views.

TV Trwam wasn't heavily biased towards PiS. Any party with PiS program could have easily gain their support. That is their right.
The difference is that Olejnk worked in the Polish BBC and cannot take sides so blatantly.
Especially since she got her job in murky circumstances.

Olejnik had every right to air her views.

Really? Not while being employed by the Polish TV.
Anyway her (not only her) professionalism in interviewing politicians is in appallingly bad state. What you can say about western TV at least they are proffe3sionlas

So why have they got the right to be biased, but not TVN?

Oh please. We all know that TVP has been heavily political for years, or have you forgotten already about how it was being used as a mouthpiece for the Government in 2007?

First and foremost, public TV should be defunded.

Is she working for TVN now? Well she can be biased as much as their are. I though you are talking about times she worked for TVP1.

Oh please. We all know that TVP has been heavily political for years, or have you forgotten already about how it was being used as a mouthpiece for the Government in 2007?

Well attempts at politicizing TVP shouldn't not be used as an excuse for journalist to involve heavily into political campaign and in taking sides. That is unprofessional and unethical but Olejnik hardly do not know better.

What were those circumstances?

She jumped on TVP and Radio during the martial state. Her education -zoo-technicians. Her father UB colonel.( political police)

As long as it's within the law.

First and foremost, public TV should be defunded.

Absolutely. There is no reason in Poland to continue funding the joke that is TVP. Polskie Radio should be funded as it serves a useful purpose (and I really enjoy Trójka), and perhaps TVP Polonia, but the rest should be binned immediately. TV is not a 'right', and there are plenty of commercial broadcasters willing to broadcast for free anyway. TVP serves as nothing more than a place for petty political rivalries to be played out, and should be shut down immediately.

Well attempts at politicizing TVP shouldn't not be used as an excuse for journalist to involve heavily into political campaign and in taking sides. That is unprofessional and unethical but Olejnik hardly do not know better.

Oh please. Haven't you seen the mass amount of political nonsense on TVP from almost everyone?

She jumped on TVP and Radio during the martial state. Her education -zoo-technicians. Her father UB colonel.( political police)

Tell us Ironside, what are Rydzyk's qualifications to run a TV station and newspaper? He's not a journalist, he's a priest. Or perhaps, what are Kaczynski's qualifications to be a politician? He's a lawyer, not a political scientist.

As for her father, I think we all established that if we're to use the parents, then Jaroslaw Kaczynski should be immediately removed from public life.

Tell us Ironside,

I can tell you that you are-talking rubbish. Admit that Olencnik is unprofessional journalist who has not right to take sides in political campaigns and pretending to be neutral at the same time.

I
What ted Turner qualifications? Who the **** care? He is the owner - so is Rydzuk.
Kaczynski - what other politician has qualification to be one? Are even there special qualification to be one - if you are loosing argument you are turning sloppy - its annoying. Try to stay on a level.

As for his father - stop repeating rubbish if you have no prove.

Just like there are no formal qualifications and requirements to become a journalist.

Try to stay on a level.

You're the last person who should ask that from others.

As for her father

As for his father

Does it really matter who Olejnik's or Klamczynski's fathers were?
