Hey Paw what has the oven to do in CATs thread?

This that it is the favourite strategic place for our cats coz they are high and able to observe large area around the oven.

Turkish food

It seems you don`t like Turks if you tarnish them with cat eating allusion. :):)

A mysterious incurable disease is decimating cats in Poland. Scientists fear it might be a variant of H5N1 bird flu virus.

Tomorrow I am going to drive 50 km to pick up a young cat whose pics a friend of ours showed to us today during our independence day party. He is not cute - just beautiful. The decision took little time, as always, - we are adopting him!

I wonder if Goddess is still guiding me in my cat choices like each time before. Simply speaking, will he prove such a wonderful cat as we are used to??

The new cat. He hasn`t got a name yet. 2 months old and still sways a little when walking.
I feared violence and fights. They took place on Sunday and Monday, indeed, but were provoked by the new comer, not older cats. He targeted Ginger - probably had never seen a red-haired cat before.

While Black Pearl has been utterly scared of the baby and has been hiding on the fridge or top shelves to avoid the contact. We didn`t know she can be so sensitive and fragile.

Now all brutalities and fears are slowly subsiding and the cats seem they will get along well.

The new cat.

In that first pic his face looks like a fox! Very angular. He's beautiful though. Looks like he's got socks on!

the cats seem they will get along well.

They were just trying to suss each other out. Maybe the new cat thought he was going to be top dog.

Maybe the new cat thought he was going to be top dog.

I suppose he was stressed and panicky seeing stranger cats other than his mum. Fear unleashes aggression.

He's beautiful though

Again, my fave black. And these white whiskers, not so spectacular in the photo, are really amasing at a closer look.

Very likely. I'm sure he's going to have a very happy home :) :)

Yes, we all love cats.

A little riddle: Why did I decide to adopt that one?
Hint: partly for his cuteness but there is sth more to it, too.

Me too.

Why did I decide to adopt that one?

You missed having 3 cats? The new cat has a white chest and paws just like Greyfus.

The more the merrier? Company for the other two? He needed a home and you couldn't say no?

This new cat in the first photo in #280 looks like Cardinal Richlieu.

You missed having 3 cats?

Yes, true. 3 is our lucky feline number.

The more the merrier?

Yes, I think so. I like having a lot of animals at home - childhood memories got imprinted in my mind for ever. .

Company for the other two?

Yes, once I read an article claiming cats live longer and more happily when they are in the company of other felines.

He needed a home and you couldn't say no?

No, this wasn`t the reason. If I was that sensitive to cat misery, our house would host hundreds of them already. I can say no and do it often.

Looks like he's got socks on!

That`s what we say in Polish about cats or dogs which have different colour paws.

One of the baby`s characteristics is sleeping on his back. Amasing!

My kids call him Dante, I call him Diaboł.

The next photo shows sharing a couch - that was the first situation like that and everybody came to the living room to take a photo. It lasted exactly 2 weeks for the cats to develop that bond at last.

I've never seen a cat sleep in that position ever! So cute :)

He is in the stage when he tries to copy the behaviours of creatures around him - both feline and human.

A nap in the afternoon can be very useful from a certain age.

very useful from a certain age.

I am too busy to afford this usefulness. :):):)

Besides, when I sleep during the day, I can`t sleep at night.

I call him Diaboł.

coz he is as playful as sylvan Torque from one of the early Witcher stories. E.g, he treats litter boxes like playing grounds, to have fun in, instead of defecating.

I call him Diaboł. coz he is as playful as sylvan Torque from one of the early Witcher stories.

Sylvans, called willowers or pucks, and labeled superstitiously as devils (archaic Common: deovel; Elder Speech: d'yaebl; Dwarvish: duvvel), are an exceptionally rare, intelligent race native to the woodlands of the Northern Kingdoms. They are distinguished by prominent goat-like visage and delight in pranks, feasting, and music.

comatose :)

Wow, thanks for reminding me of this word which I learnt at uni times and have never used ever since. :):):)

By posing my riddle, I suggested that cats which openly show their vulnerable bellies to the public feel safe in their surroundings

When a cat shows you their belly, the cat is relaxed, comfortable, and doesn't feel threatened. They feel safe enough to expose their vulnerable areas without worrying about being attacked. They are pretty much telling you, "I trust you with my life."

Simply speaking, the baby is communicating we have created a safe environment for him.
Yes, it is a great honour indeed. Such banal matters make our lives worth living.
