Black Pearl is occupying a high position in the central hall where she is observing busy people doing things before Christmas.

I asked ChatGPT to answer why Poles love cats so much, and to put it into a historical context. Here is the result:

**The Unlikely Love Affair: Why Poles Adore Cats Despite a Complicated History**

In a nation that has weathered Russian partitions, the Polish-Soviet War, World War II, and the chilling embrace of the Cold War, one might wonder: What's the deal with Polish people and cats? Surprisingly, this feline affection persists, defying the odds of historical tumult.

Could it be a coping mechanism, a silent rebellion against the upheavals of the past? Poles, known for their resilience in the face of adversity, apparently found solace in the purring companionship of these enigmatic creatures. After all, what better way to thumb your nose at geopolitical chaos than by adopting a nonchalant attitude-much like a cat's indifference to human concerns.

Perhaps, in times of hardship, Poles sought refuge in the feline mystique, secretly believing that a cat's proverbial nine lives could be the ultimate insurance policy against historical calamities. Who wouldn't want an ally that can outlast partitions, wars, and geopolitical intrigues?

In an ironic twist, the very creatures that supposedly have nine lives found favor in a country that, despite historical setbacks, continues to stand resilient. It's almost as if Poles are saying, "If we can survive all that, so can a cat."

So, the next time you witness a Pole lavishing attention on their feline companion, remember that it's not just a cat-it's a living embodiment of historical endurance and a symbol of the unwavering spirit that has carried Poland through the trials of time. After all, nothing says, "We've been through a lot, but we're still here," quite like sharing your home with a whiskered confidant. Meow-sive respect, Poland.

why Poles love cats so much

This thesis is a bit far fetched coz Poles love dogs and cats like all other nations. In the same proportions I suppose - dogs more than cats. All of my family, friends and acquintances cherish positive feelings about dogs but some don`t like cats.

by adopting a nonchalant attitude-much like a cat's indifference to human concerns.

That`s what attracts me in cats - that permeating atmosphere of personal independence and freedom. A dog will always love its owner no matter how they treat the pet. While you have to strive to deserve the cat`s love.

"If we can survive all that, so can a cat."

Amasing opinions does that AI have. I would never think of that. :):):)

All in all, thanks for an interesting input.

Strange but most people who visit us consider the new baby catto be Norwegian breed and they put him on their forearm like on a tree branch. And the cat loves it and doesn`t escape. Amasing!!!

I am going to install a huge branch somewhere in the house but don`t know where yet. :):):)

I am going to install a huge branch somewhere in the house

I built a square 8"x8" stanchion with a platform on top of it. (I wish I knew how to post pictures)
I then wrapped the stanchion with carpet so he had a scratch pole too plus he could grab onto it to climb up to the platform that he just loves to lay on.

I put carpet on the platform too.
He can see from there in every room of the house and cats likes that.
Plus, it is easy to move up next to a window so he can look out at the bird feeder and chatter to himself.
Makes it easy to clean around too as it is portable.
Maybe you could get one of your students to make you one in their shop class at school.

Our relatives came for a visit with a family pet namely a dog.
Our three cats displayed 3 different attitudes.
Ginger instantly tried to attack the dog with his paws, so we had to close him in one of the rooms.
Devil Dante hissed and ruffled, but didn`t attack. He climbed the sofa to observe the dog from a safe distance and later he went to sleep, not bothered by the dog`s constant barking.

Black Pearl, the most sensitive of all, climbed the highest place available to her, namely the stillage with glass cages in my bedroom and stayed there until the visit finished. See below:

Yes, a very good idea. I will do it too. I have kept a huge walnut tree branch in our barn. I planned to paint it and install in the front yard as a rack for hanging plants.

Devil Dante hissed and ruffled, He climbed the sofa and later he went to sleep

just like that:

Black Pearl, the most sensitive of all, We didn`t know she can be so sensitive and fragile.

But she still can stand up to bullies when needed. When Devil Dante playfully attacks Ginger, the latter remains placid and passive most of the time and it looks like Devil is hurting him. It is the time when Black Pearl joins the action and defends Ginger, hissing at Devil. He usually withdraws in amazement. Amasing!

That dog was crazy. He was so beffudled with cats` presence in the house that he even barked at the tortoise which is completely harmless.

Hey idiot, I don't have issues with you talking about cats. I have nothing against cats or dogs.
I just wish you stay on the subject and do not venture into political and ideological threads as your point of view sucks in so many ways that is hard to describe.

By all means, talk about cats.

Mission Impossible 5, darling. hahahaha
I admit this endurance of yours coz you have been saying it for 15 years and nothing has changed. Good! hahahaha

talk about cats.

I will talk about cats in cat threads and about politics in political threads coz I love order!!! I am a perfectionist when it comes to forum technical side!!! Ha!!!

Some qualities of character of our new cat

The ones I like :
- he`s very sociable with other cats and people.
- he doesn`t shun close contact like kissing or cuddling.
- he is a clean cat who uses litter boxes properly. When he relieves himself out of them, he does it in the bath tub which is easy to clean.

- he is fascinated with water when sb uses a shower or washes. Dripping water is also an attraction. I think of getting a small fountain for the cat to play with. :)_:):)

The ones I like less:

- he is a thief like our dear Greyfuss long ago. I can`t leave food on a plate without the cat getting interested in it.

- he also steals other objects. I lost a few wax-like ear plugs which I keep on the shelf above my bed - I think he devoured them. Crazy.

I love cats because cats would never go to Korea, Vietnam, or Iraq to kill and die for "freedom and democracy". They are too smart for this bullshit.

Dogs would because they are obedient azholes who always trust their owners and, just like women, stick around even if abused.

Yes, we know. It is decent intelligent people and apes who love cats. We already talked about it here a few years ago.

Dogs would because they are obedient

Yes, that`s what was said then.
