Stalinist style indoctrination in Poland from the 1956 onwards

Here is the news

That doesn't show indoctrination at all. That speech was (possibly the ultimate) proof the indoctrination did not work.

yes - this is what Britain is surprisingly short of (fruit juices - can't drink stuff like Powerade or Lucozade on daily basis)
you can find huge variety of fruit juices in Poland

I loooooooove the Polish chick in it...she looks really stoned excited:)... why wont anyone love Poland after seeing this??

I don't think seeing this girl with the sign that says "Poland - we love you Michael" would positively influence my decision on going to Poland, if I was sitting on the fence.

Polish: cynicism, sense of humor, self-criticism, will to fight, lifestyle, history, food and inventiveness.

haven't read what you guys wrote but I love Poland for its inconsistency...
for the fact the people can be 'converted' (if you try hard enough)
for the fact that as an nation we were so ****** up we have no idea who we are and where we come from

for the fact that when other nations may be getting deluded, we learn from your mistakes (hopefully) and come out on the better side

that's my HOPE for Poland

I lovePoland because of its uniqueness.

Every counry is unique to some degree, my dear sir. And Hungary or Albania, for example, are arguably more unique than Poland. Hungarians speak a strange language and Albanians shake their heads diagonally when they want to emphasise the negative.

I really hope, but in all honesty I cant it.

I liked Poland's architecture and chilled atmosphere, the summers are hot and the winters cold, thats something I quite liked too.

My wife of course. You need to be a good man to cope with the turns of women. 'Now I don't say I'm a good man, but I would be if I could'. Peter Green, Man of the World, classic!!!

The spirit of some of the people in adversity is great too! Oh yes, and the efforts of the man tonight to find me toilet paper as I had to leave the hall during football. He got me some eventually and I held out. I couldn't stop thanking him :)

That's how I feel it: youtube.com/watch?v=PJKC6DQnBzc

REPUBLIKA
"Nie pytaj o Polskę"

To nie karnawał
ale tańczyć chcę
i będę tańczył z nią po dzień

to nie zabawa
ale bawię się
bezsenne noce senne dnie

to nie kochanka
ale sypiam z nią
choć śmieją ze mnie się i drwią

taka zmęczona
i pijana wciąż
dlatego nie

NIE PYTAJ WIĘCEJ MNIE

nie pytaj mnie
dlaczego jestem z nią
nie pytaj mnie
dlaczego z inną nie
nie pytaj mnie
dlaczego myślę że...
że nie ma dla mnie innych miejsc

nie pytaj mnie
co ciągle widzę w niej
nie pytaj mnie dlaczego w innej nie
nie pytaj mnie
dlaczego ciągle chce
zasypiać w niej i budzić się

te brudne dworce
gdzie spotykam ja
te tłumy które cicho klną

ten pijak który mruczy coś przez sen
że PÓKI MY ŻYJEMY ona żyje też

NIE PYTAJ MNIE
NIE PYTAJ MNIE
C0 WIDZĘ W NIEJ

nie pytaj mnie
co ciągle widzę w niej
nie pytaj mnie dlaczego w innej nie
nie pytaj mnie
dlaczego ciągle chcę
zasypiać w niej i budzić się

nie pytaj mnie
dlaczego jestem z nią
nie pytaj mnie
dlaczego z inną nie
nie pytaj mnie
dlaczego myślę że...
że nie ma dla mnie innych miejsc

My own (pretty lousy) translation:

Don't ask about Poland"

It's not a carnival
but I want to dance
and I will dance till the end

It's not a party
but I enjoy myself
sleepless nights and sleepy days

She's not my lover
but I'm sleeping with her
though they are laughing at me

So tired and drunk all the time (she-my comment)

That's why

Don't ask me any more
Don't ask me
Why I'm with her
Don't ask me
Why not with another one

Don't ask me
Why I think that
that there's no other place for me

Don't ask me
What I still see in her
Don't ask me
Why not in another one
Don't ask me
Why I still want
Fall asleep and wake up in her

That dirty terminals
Where I'm meeting with her
That crowd that is cursing quietly

That drunkard that is muttering in his sleep
That till we are living she is also alive

Don't ask me
Don't ask me
What I see in her

Don't ask me
What I still see in her
Don't ask me
Why not in another one
Don't ask me
Why I still want
Fall asleep and wake up in her

Don't ask me
Why I'm with her
Don't ask me
Why not with another one
Don't ask me
Why I think that
that there's no other place for me

and almost no people from outside Europe!

What makes that a positive?

Poland is a land of liberty =) ... it is the place where I walk every morning. Under its trees I've slept ... I touched it grass ... I swam in its lakes ... I climbed its mountains ... Its the name of the beauty nature makes!

Poland is home... as said here before. A home which welcomes, those who love it.

Ive been to 35 countries in the world, most of Europe. The friendliest and most helpful people I have met are Polish. I fell in love with Poland and my Polish gf. The food, the people, the music, the countryside, the mountains, the forests, the weather.

I work in Germany but 3 weekends a month I drive a 1600km round trip to £ódź to stay with moja dziewczyna :)

You are welcome my friend =)

Yes they are very developed. And very diverse. Issues will always be there in every country... we will all deal with new issues forever. As long as there is a gap between actual situationa nd desired situation, development will keep on moving forwards. CHEERS!

OK, time to be positive:

1) Quality kabanos sausages. I bought a pack of those pork ones today and they are really sth else. The Tarczyński brand :)

2) Some of the educated people are fantastic to chat to. I have a former PhD student turn international speaker plus a legal adviser as private students and they really make me raise my game. The quality of their insights is phenomenal. They are really down-to-earth too.

3) The team that I work with are really cool. 5 women and all pretty and smart.

4) My bed :)
