Gil Ofarim admitted he lied. Well, that's what happens with anti-Semitism. Anyone can be accused unjustly.
Differences between Irish, British, Polish, American and other nations culture, tradition, music - loose talk
@Alien
That's a funny story.
Not as funny as one that happened in Chicago a few years ago, however.
Famous French-American gay black actor, Jussie Smollett, claimed he decided to walk several blocks at 2 AM in the dead of winter, to buy himself a Subway sandwich. Tragically, on the way he was accosted by two white men, wearing MAGA hats. First they insulted him, by asking "Hey, aren't you that fagg0t nigg*r from Empire?", and then they proceeded to pour bleach on him and beat him up for good measure. As they left, they yelled "This is MAGA country!"
Hoot! As JR would say.
Subsequently, the nation was enraged. Such a thing should not happen in the 21st century!
But then it emerged that Jussie had hired two Nigerian brothers, who were his work acquaintances, to stage the attack.
The brothers, Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo, had worked as extras on the set of television drama Empire, in which Smollett was a cast member. It is not known how their political views align with Donald Trump's.

@Bobko
Nice story too.
Nice story too.
With the new Irish anti hate speech law a person can be arrested for having a meme one their phone. No freedom of speech in the UK.
Big brother is watching!
Even with all the problems the USA has, its still the best place to live:)

@jon357
confused again?????????
confused again?????????
Somebody will explain it to you.
Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar said the country would pass new legislation to crack down on racist hate speech online, a move that critics fear will erode free speech by making certain memes and other digital materials illegal.
This law includes crimes relating to "xenophobia" and can be committed merely by the"public dissemination or distribution of tracts, pictures or other material.
You guys are fu*ked! No wonder a "red wave" is rolling across the Europe.
Im surprised PF hasn't been banned in Europe yet!

Ireland shows how public disorder can play into the hands of government officials to further limiting the right of free speech.
Dublin Councilman Abul Kalam Azad Talukder has reportedly called for protesters to be "shot in the head or bring the public in and beat them until they die."
I dont recall " Abul" being an Irish name? You get what you vote for, dummies!

It's Limerick, not Dublin - where do you get your news from? We already discussed this in another thread.
No freedom of speech in the UK.
Ireland is not part of the UK.
not part of the UK.
And Northern Ireland?
They are, until they decide otherwise (which by the way would delight the UK), however most of Ireland isn't. We do have close relations however as two islands, one large and one small, that difference is cherished in Ireland and understood in Britain.
until they decide otherwise
Not just them though. It has to be an all-island referendum. Northern ireland's only options are stay in the UK or join with the Republic as they really couldn't survive on their own. I'd say we're still a long way from a border poll.
And Northern Ireland?
Northern Ireland has its own legal system. Irish laws don't apply there.
With the new Irish anti hate speech law
Don' you worry. We're well able to handle it. People will either ignore it and say what they want or will make a mockery of it; getting a test case into the courts will be a priority for a lot of people. I'm not bothered by it. I'm going to carry on saying exactly what I want to, including calling teenage scumbags exactly that.
It has to be an all-island referendum.
Of course. I read a good paper that said economically the impact for Ireland would be greater than for Germany during their reunification. That was just about the money and didn't mention the urban/rural thing or the red hand and sash people.
Yes, I'd say the appetite for unity is not that great anymore. It's a nice romantic idea but the hard realities are a big stumbling block. The economics are one thing but accommodating the Orange men is a step too far! (Excuse the pun!)
I'd say the appetite for unity is not that great anymore
I'd say that the ordinary Irish citizen is not too keen on accepting NI.

Just word salad.

I can't see Ireland uniting any time soon....probably not in my lifetime.

Oh don't worry Milo Americans oftenhave a poor grasp of geography/politics. They can't help it bless their hearts.

....
American culture never ceases to spread around Poland. E.g, Poles and Polesses can drink cheap wine-like product called Arizona. It only costs 2 dollars per bottle.

Is it possible that Poles are too stingy to pay for excellent wines that are so plentiful in America?
I buy wine at Trader's Joe for $3.99 and still feel I am paying too much.
It used to be two bucks.

Does this "wine" have 17% alcohol?
Is it possible that Poles are too stingy
It was a trick post... and you fell for it.
"Arizona" is not normal wine, it's 'jabol'.... the closest US equivalents might be things like md 20/20, thunderbird or night train
It became famous as the title of a late 90s documentary on the hopelessness of life on commie collective farms after the collapse of communism.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jabol
pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arizona_(film_1997)
it's even on youtube
How do you not know this?
can drink cheap wine-like product called Arizona
Some of you might misunderstood me. I meant that in Poland there is a tradition going back to communism to produce cheap fruit wines fortified with spirit. One of the producers called their product Arizona because it sounded trendy to him. It isn`t American wine.
have 17% alcohol?
I am not sure but I know that those "wines" are stronger than normal fruit fermentation allows.
md 20/20, thunderbird
They became fashionable among students in the UK back in the mid 80s. Utter muck but fun at the time.

I once bought a chocolate flavour cherry wine in Poznan, for about 7zl. Dreadful and aimed at homeless and the poorest alkies. Worth a try though. As were those chocolate favour cigarettes (Nestor?) that used to be made in Lublin and are banned now.
Utter muck but fun at the time.
I never went in for wino fare... but I had a few very fun evenings (followed by absolutely miserable mornings) thanks to King Cobra Malt Liquor (aka devil in a 16 oz. can).

King Cobra Malt Liquor
What is in this poison?
I dunno about that particular brand, but in the short term it's fun....
Malt liquor = stronger than usual beer, in the US it's heavily associated with African Americans (I worked in a store for a short time and about 90% of malt liquor was bought by black customers).
