My wife has a karta pobytu and she was told that she can not work with it. I am a Brazilian under a work permit here and my wife got her karta pobytu through being with me here. I just can't believe they issue a visa that allow her to only stay at home and do nothing. The same immigration officer that told her that she could work today checked her decizja letter and said no, she is not allowed to work.
I forgot to mention that my wife got a job and was about to sign the contract when the hiring company checked her karta pobytu which doesn't say much and assumed she couldn't work.
How could they check her eligibility to work only after the 4 th interview.?? So ridiculous the whole thing! Does anyone know a way to get a karta that actually allow one to work??

As far as I know, there is no such thing; anybody who wants to employ your wife will need to get a work permit for her. If they get her a work permit, she will be allowed to work (although that work permit will only be good for working at that company; if you want to get technical about it, that work permit is only good for working in that specific position in that company).
There is, but only for the family of EU citizens and the card itself is identical to the other ones handed out. Family members are exempt from requiring work permits - which is more or less an open door into the EU for those savvy enough to play the game.

That's their fault for not having a clue. All they have to do is apply for a work permit, which is mostly a formality.
For the same reason the UK doesn't dish out citizenship to every Aussie or American called Smith or Jones. They have citizenship elsewhere and Poland is a country rather than an ethnic heimat.
Hello my name is stit. I'm a algerian nationality live in Poland without visa and I'm going to merry a polish citizen is possible get the karta pobytu after i get merriad with this polish citizen. I hope get sooner answere thank you best regardes
Yes. First you need to apply for temporary residence permit issued on the basis of marriage to a Polish citizen, then - after 2 years - apply for permanent stay.

Hej my name is avi and I have married with polish citizen and my problem is that I had applied for 2nd time karta pybtu and they gave me nagative decision . And the reason is that I was outside of poland 6 month during 1st karta pybtu. Now I have send appeal to head of office warsaw . Can you tell me that what is waiting time for this and will they forgiv me because I was not know about that ???????
Odds are....negative decision = they will make things very difficult for you. Best to consult a lawyer or read what it says on the MSZ website. Not knowing the rules doesn't obstain you from them. Just my opinion, doesn't mean I'm right :)

Especially since you have given them ample reason to question the sincerity of your intention to make Poland your primary place of residence, and also possibly to question whether your marriage is genuine.
Best to consult a lawyer
I agree. It is exceedingly unlikely that you will be able to appeal successfully without the help of an attorney.
will they forgiv me because I was not know about that ???????
I would not hold my breath. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.
Can you tell me that what is waiting time for this
No one can. It all depends on the good will of the wojewoda. It could take months. Or longer. That is, if they decide to review your appeal at all.
You do realize you made a major blunder that will be difficult to set right, if it can be set right at all? You've given the wojewoda concrete grounds to question your good faith, and it will be difficult to regain his trust, especially with an appeal based on ignorance of the law.
Thanking you very much for reply . but I want to know that it was my mistake and in appeal I had written that it will never happen in future . Now nobody want give me work in poland without karta pybtu and my wife is pregnant . I attached documents of pregnant with appeal .is it possible that they give me nagative again and again and I stay in poland elegal . Because they never deport me while I have broken relation with my wife. ? So do you can say me how many times they will give me nagative decision ? I not have police case not fine in any officialee .er do stupidly . ? Only one mistake that I was outside of poland more then 3month :-(
Because they never deport me while I have broken relation with my wife.
So you have severed relations with your pregnant Polish wife....And still expect to get a permission to stay in Poland? Remarkable.... They should deport you in chains.
maybe you are a prick, why, its because people whom are the first time in any country they should knew about their languages of course but the country also should talk in few languages like poland they'r not talking in english or french but if youo go even to afrika in zimbabwe or ghana or senegal you gotta found people talking french .. english which it is international.
I did some research about karta pobytu but I don't have the required documents list for it. I don't know how much I need to pay for the permit and in some sources it says around 300-350 zl and in Voivodship website it says 440 zl but it includes working permit too. I won't get working permit, I just will get student residency permit so, do anyone knows how much I need to pay for it ? I live in Poznan / Wielkopolska.
Thank you.
I am replying to my question :D After 3 hours of waiting I learnt that it is 350 zl for students who doesn't need work permit in Wielkopolska voivodship.

Thanks for sharing this useful information! The process for applying for karta pobytu can sometimes be confusing, so it's great to have a clear list of required documents.
For those wondering about the bank account statement requirement, the balance needed can vary depending on different factors, such as the cost of living and the length of stay. You can check out this resource for more details on the minimum bank balance requirements for a Poland student visa: /minimum-bank-balance-requirements-for-a-poland-student-visa/.
If anyone has specific questions about their case, feel free to ask, and hopefully, someone with experience can help! 😊
Hi, I've been through this process myself and helped others - here's a quick breakdown for you:
Requirements depend on your reason for stay. If you're coming to study in Poland, you'll need:
a confirmation from the Polish university,
proof of accommodation and health insurance,
and a bank statement showing you can support yourself.
Embassy appointments won't help - TRC (karta pobytu) is issued only in Poland, not through embassies. You must enter Poland legally and apply at a local Voivodeship Office (urząd wojewódzki).
Taxes only apply if you work here. If you don't work - you don't pay. If you do, it depends on your job type (like a zlecenie contract, etc.).
Processing time varies a lot - in some regions it's 2 months, in others 6+. It really depends on the queue and how complete your documents are.
We've put together a detailed guide (step by step), including what to expect and how to prepare: 👉 pldok.pl/legalizacja/karta-pobytu-przewodnik
Let me know if anything's unclear. Happy to help - it's easier when we share info. Good luck!
Hi @Ola_z_Pldok, great post and doc - many thanks. I am looking to emigrate to Łódz for retirement. Looks like the temp residency documentation / process is non-trivial and my polish language is quite limited. Would you recommend that I use an agency to assist with my application? Am looking at CGO group in Łódz.
@SEQ A new system is being implemented. Was voted on a week or so ago. Will be completely online filing for Karta Pobytu in the near future which will speek the process up considerably.
