The only times I've heard of anything like "home invasions" in Europe have involved extremely wealthy people, usually elderly or perhaps premiership footballers, all of them with safes to open and/or jewellery and valuables. The gaol time for anyone convicted of doing that is so long that it's simply not worth the risk. Plus of course, most burglars don't have guns.

There are certain groups of people you can't reason with. Reason being, they want the destruction of a nation and its people whether they realize it or not. They are subversives. I'm jealous of some of your junk food, though. Jack in the Box and In&Out Burger are great. We've got Popeye's here now though, so I'm not jealous of that anymore. But yeah, the junk food is all I'm really jealous of. Living in Poland, I'm also a bit jealous that you've got Chinese food over there - next to nothing here...

But back to guns. We don't need guns. Our societies aren't as violent as yours - even the one I came from, which does have more than its fair share of knife crime. I've still never felt particularly scared on the streets at night though, to the extent that I wish I had a firearm, let alone in my own home - maybe because I'm not a p*ssy. But then, once again, I don't come from or currently live in an insanely violent society.

Americans don't seem to understand that your problems with guns arise from an arms race. Criminals have guns so police and Joe Civilian have them in response. I am not scared of a criminal having a gun, so I don't feel I need one in order to match them weapon-for-weapon.

Re. getting stabbed: in the UK, there is a very small chance of that happening to you, especially in a 'home invasion' (in Poland, even less so - the criminals here are all utter cowardly rats, their M.O. is spiking drinks and robbing people while they're out of it). Back home, most of the time it's gang members stabbing other gang members. The disputes are often over the drug trade, or over girls, or something this guy said about this other guy, or other stupid sh* that young men with a lot of testosterone bubbling about get into fights about, as they always have since time immemorial. The average civilian has nothing to worry about. Even muggings these days aren't at knifepoint like they were when I was a teenager - it's an electric bike zooming past you and the rider snatching your phone. Nobody is putting a gun in your face in the street or after breaking into your home, and the idea that we're jealous of you given that those things are realistic possibilities for you should probably make to rethink your ideas of "European jealousy".
