WHAT IS THE VALUE of the piecdziesiat zlotych 50, 1988
In 1995, Poland re-denominated its currency and did away with some increasingly embarrassing zeros. What was once worth 10 000zl became worth 1zl and is now differentiated by the tag PLN (1PLN).
Old 50zl is worth today 0.005PLN (in bank exchange). Maybe there are some collectors who are willing to pay you something for the note, but I don't think it is worth anything yet.
You can exchange OLD Polish money until the end of the year in Polish banks. They are likely to give you today's equivalent. Sometimes on gumtree there are people who may need a particular note to complete their collection, but are unlikely to pay a lot for it.
For those of you, who does not know, year 2010 was the last year in which you could exchange old Polish zlotych. Now the currency issuead before the denomination has only historical value...
Anyone in Poland should know that the end of last year was the last date to change old Polish money into current money. Anyone who has old money now it is worthless as no bank will exchange it.
If you have any doubts go to the National Bank of Poland's website (NBP)
Well I know that after 2010 they are worth nothing, but from 1996 till 2010 what were they worth? Were they only valued the same as new zloty while the were in circulation for 2 yrs after 1996? At what point did old zloty loose their full value?
I bought a house in October 2010. I recently found a bunch of old polish zloty. I just need to know that I didn't miss my big break! Since I found the post 2010. I know how many old zloty = new zloty, I don't know when the old zloty value originally decreased.
So if I had this money In 1995 how long would I have had to exchange it before it went to th 10,000 to 1 ratio? I did the zloty just decrease right away?
Thank you Lenka that is the answer I was looking for. I've done a lot of research and everyone tells me the same thing. According to you the money in that house in October 2010, wasn't worth much more than what it is now. I would have only had a 2 month window to sell it , but if it wasn't worth PLN value than I guess I didn't miss much.

The currency didn't decrease - you should regard it as being two separate currencies, pegged at 10000:1 by the National Bank of Poland. You had until the end of 2010 to exchange it at the guaranteed rate - now that the deadline has passed, you might still be able to exchange it, but there's no guarantee anymore.
Im actually interested in purchasing old polish ZL in bulk. any idea where i could get them at low prices? considering they are worth nothing anyways.. shouldnt be much of a problem.. ideas???
try allegro.pl - this is the polish counterpart of ebay - you just need to know a couple of right words to look for things that interest you (banknoty -easy - monety- coins stare- old przedwojenne - pre-war powojenne - postwar) - there are probably (more) dedicated sites as to trading historic money (numizmatyka is the right term) but I don't know them personally
can i exchange my Poland money into Indian currency?plz rply............on my email.id akashkmr028@gmail...............................i am living in gurgaon(india).where i can exchange this money?
I have some old polish bank notes and was wondering what kind of value they might have. All of bank notes are dated 1982 and I have one bank note for $5000, one for $1000 and the other for $500.
Would appreciate you comments as to the value of these notes in US Dollars.
