UK, Ireland / Is the UK referred to as the Islands in Polish media back home? [62]

it's a relative concept to Brits. Britain has been deeply locked into Europe since 1973 especially but some have been talking of splendid isolation again. In relative terms, Britain was disengaged before 1902. A lot of observing of world affairs and far fewer pacts/ententes.

News / Nigel Farage voice of reason for Poland and EU? [79]

That's because, just like religion, man makes a mess of its interpretation. Lincoln and others spelled it out oh so clearly yet the political class are committing the unthinkable by paying lip service to it. The essence of the idea is still there but it has been diluted almost beyond recognition.

Food / Swiss Cheese in Poland [14]

Try Masdamer. It's originally from Holland and is called Maasdammer there. It occupies almost 1/5 of their domestic production. Good choice of cheese :)

Love / Do Polish women fight about everything? [39]

Yeah, I like the way some are dressed too :) :)

As for the thread, a certain type of Polki fights. Just like any other country in that respect. All of my male private students are calm characters but feel provoked into pittin their dooks up on occasion. Just don't take the bait or you are in for a long slugfest :( :(

In a sense, yes. Jostling for control and who goes where, what should be bought and what shouldn't. I get fed up of hearing 'chodz' over and over again in a shopping mall.

Work / Why is Polish workmanship so bad? [52]

My Polish friend would completely disagree with you but this is the value of personal experience, it can lead us to a different conclusion.

Ok, let me add an 'opinion' for you, modafinil. I think there is a lot of needless fussing which appears catty and like a fight but it's not quite the same. Just have a look at some mother/daughter pairs shopping and you'll see what I mean.

Pam, he was making points and seeking discussion. Don't knock him for that. He had the courage to speak out.

Sometimes there is no sense voicing an opinion given that, if your head is flexible enough, you can even counter it with another opinion of your own later. Where's the logic in that? It always comes back to the same thing, i.e the truth!

Merkozy's fate is in the hands of those that have the money to rescue the vision. If they are too stingy not to see that their control will be preserved as a result of spending then I'll happily kick them closer to the plughole. History has shown us that people hellbent on a certain vision will go to great lengths and to the very end to bring it about. That's where a good chess player would catch them out :)

Sascha, of course democracy is the best way. It's a simple recommendation yet a masterstroke at the same time. Simplicity is genius!
