USA, Canada / Your favorite USA kiełbasa? [37]

I recommend Tarczynski kabanosy. If you find them then you know that you have found sth good :) Anything by that firm is top notch.

Life / Fat People in Poland? [161]

To answer the OP, not so many at all. This is even more salient when you consider that the diet here is hardly the healthiest in the world.

Life / Automobiles vs. Pedestrians in Poland [77]

I'm almost always nice enough to pull right up close to the wall and away from the kerb/curb when they are approaching to park. The one time I didn't, the driver got narky but I just laughed it off.

Work / The level of English of Polish teachers of English. What do you think of it? [101]

Oh, I did watch some in my last school. Very thorough and only the very occasional 'mistake' in pronunciation. Then again, natives pronounce words differently so what does it really matter? It doesn't stop at the AmE Vs BrE level, e.g semi (SEMAJ/SEMI). Even within Britain, there are many differences. Where a 'proper' Londoner would say 'a historical book', a commoner would say 'an 'istorical book'. Such is life!

Work / The level of English of Polish teachers of English. What do you think of it? [101]

They are often more engaged in the teaching process through having had to come through gruelling tests. It stands them in good stead as they have to check the lesson that bit more carefully than a qualified native. They sometimes ask me the meaning of words and that's a good thing. They are interested and thorough. They are more into it than I am.

When you consider that Polish teachers do class after class in a foreign language, you have to applaud them. I can speak Polish quite comfortably for the most part but when I begin to tire, I want to revert to English. They don't have the option of falling back to L1 in class. Well, not so often anyway. Although I haven't observed the Polish teachers here, I hear them in the other room and they really do a good job :)

Life / The Adult Entertainment Industry in Poland? [67]

Adult entertainment here runs more along the lines of watching the neighbour stagger about after too much vodka or reverse his Maluch into a tree. Prno is not big here at all.

Real Estate / Moving to the Katowice area soon! Safe neighborhood for an Irish man? [38]

I can't really comment as I've never been to Sheffield. However, I do seem to recall Michael Palin showing a few parts of it (he is from there, right?) and finding it to be very grey. A bit like Aberdeen and, I'd say, Katowice too. If you are saying both are dreary then that would seem to be the case.

I take it you prefer The Blades to The Owls then!? ;)

Katowice has very few green areas compared to here. There is more discontent too but it is still safer than some other cities. Like any other city, it has its bad areas and its fairly good areas.

It's more or less the same now ;) The train station can be unsafe and it's generally less safe than here in Gliwice. Plenty skinheads in Katowice and Silesia in general. However, they tend to leave white Europeans alone if they are behaving themselves.

Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

Mods, this can be merged with another thread. While I will say that they tend to overrate themselves, beauty is in eye of the beholder. Many are beautiful and some aren't.

Food / What do non-Poles think about eating the following Polish foods? [1412]

Let's put the EU top brass to good effect. I'd make it that you shouldn't touch certain foods after X amount of alcohol. You know, sth like a 'vomit potential' rating. Sth like 'only eat tripe when sober' ;0 ;) As a Scot, I'd appreciate it ;) ;)
