News / GERMANS WANT TO GERMANIZE KOPERNIK (COPERNICUS)! OUTRAGE! [1016]

now Germany forced Austria???

Thats correct. Without the very aggressive stance shown by the Germans towards the Russians, (change of policy when Kaizer Wilhelm came into power) and their full fledged support for Austria, Austria began to feel an air of cockiness, as showcased in their unrealistic demands to Serbia.

Had Germany pursued a more moderate course of action, and perhaps been more open to peace discussions like the British, Austria would have not had the guts to move into Serbia for fear of Russian retaliation.

But then again, Germany was as eager to show off their new navy as Austria was to invade the Balkans.

The best pages of this debate are hidden in the first 6 pages or so... later, it just becomes reocurring, over and over again...

BB, I'm surprised you have the discipline to keep repeating the same stuff over again that we had discussed months and months ago ;)

in Mongolia, thinking about being on PF.

Isn't it strange? But I guess once you've been here longer than 2 years, you'll keep coming back for more, eventually.

Of course I left for good too – but it didn’t last long and anyway nobody noticed. It’s moths to the flame I fear.

I think PF has some kind of magnetic force... It's not like anyone really cares about you, but you still feel the need to come back. Why is that?

Oh well, when I'll be in Mongolia and far away from the internet, eating boiled intestine, maybe then :)

Genealogy / Polish looks? [1462]

I look A LOT like my dad, who looks like his dad, who was 100% Polish

And your mother...?

You definitely have some slavic features to your face. The nose, the eyes, and the cheekbones. But my guess is that your mother isn't slavic..?

Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

No not all they are mostley blue eyes

Ehh.. thats an iffy statement. I personally have green eyes, and have noticed Poland and slavs in general have a higher incidence of green, usually matched with brown hair.

Language / Your perception of the Polish accent [145]

There is a definite difference between Polish accent on the boarder of Lithunia, with Belarus, with Ukraine, in southern Carpathian, in Silesia, and in the interior of Poland. Sometimes not pronounced enough to be albe to tell right away where they are from.

Language / Ukrainian language similar to Polish? [236]

Nathan, whats your problem? Southern is just giving his own opinion, on how it sounds for an outsider. Is it really that hard to acknowledge that there are certain similarities between slavic speakers? Or is that simply outside the realm for someone as narrow minded as you?

History / Poles in the Napoleonic era [224]

guy, ran amok in Europe till Great Britain decided to take the cane out of the closet and give him a damn good thrashing my dear boy :D

lol, without Spanish guerrillas, along with the him having to deal with the east, Austria, Russia, Prussia etc.. then your great General Wellington would have had to book the next ship out of Lisbon, and go cower on that silly island of yours until Napoleon finally starved you out.

History / Poles in the Napoleonic era [224]

No he would not, Poland would and Poles had the most mobile army in the world next to Russia, any guerillas would get stomped down especially since it was all familiar terrain.

lol... I'm sorry to say this Sokrates, but you're leaving in a dream world man. Almost a hundred million people, and you think that Poland would be able to administer all the territory? Right... please stop, and rethink what you just said. You give Poles a bad name.

fighted

*Fought ;)

History / Poles in the Napoleonic era [224]

If he'd defeat Russia he'd just invade Spain with a quarter of a milion troops, make Wellington his bitch and end it all.

And Sokrates my friend. You think that Napoleon would be able to hold onto all this newly conquered territory? You think he would not face the same guerrilla problems as in Spain? Can you imagine all the millions of guerrilla's he would be facing internally, if he managed to defeat Russias regular army? Napoleon would have had to been content with western Russia, nothing else. Simply couldn't swallow all that territory.

Yes, unfortunately Poles experienced that in 1612. Most returned as skeletons.

wasnt for Russia you'd be speaking Polish or French today.

Lets not go too far to say that...
Eventually Napoleon would have been defeated, or forced to retreat. The Peninsular Campaign cost Napoleon more than the Russia.

in fact, it was heavy Sarmatian (Slavic) cavalry

Could be. But many of these men were gay, because during their travelling together on campaign, they would not be able to find a woman. They became closer because they fought together, and many resorted to male companionship, rather than woman. In fact, they could be called bi-sexual, rather than homosexual.

George, have you ever heard of the 'Companion Cavalry' of Alexander the Great?

History / Poles in the Napoleonic era [224]

Napoleon was same as Hitler

Well, Alexander the Great, Charlemagne, Napoleon, Hitler, all the same in my mind, in the most general sense. However, Napoleon did not have the same race based ideology as Hitler had, and he never had it in his mind to exterminate whole peoples...

divide and conquer policy

Of course. But brother, Poles listened well to him, as he promised them an independent country. Duchy of Warsaw can hardly be called that, but it was a start. He most likely would never have followed through with this promise.

When Napoleon began invading Russia, and the cold set in, many Poles deserted and melted into the environment, later to return home. Many realized their mistake.

Somosierra: the Charge of the Polish Light Horse

napoleon-series.org/military/virtual/c_somosierra.html

A good example of Poles being used, literally as cannon fodder, because of Napoleon's impatience and arrogance.

O maybe its becuase they would get the job done, its not really that the french are anykind of warriors is it, so they needed to emply some

I'm confused... what exactly are you trying to say?

News / US to deploy Patriot missiles to Poland [404]

I believe just the opposite. Without American or EU meddling into Polish affairs, Poland would make itself less likely a target for an attack. She should look after her own ass, first and foremost.

News / US to deploy Patriot missiles to Poland [404]

feel Poland needs this to remain free.

Foolish Celinski! You think that these missiles would make such a difference in the long run? If Russia wanted, she could destroy us quite quickly, with or without these missiles and a defense shield. You think that the Americans would hold true to their word if Poland was wiped off the map? What shit you speak of today! They will only look after their own ass. Poland playing the antagonizing little monkey in the middle won't help her cause in the long run, believe me...
