Life / My experience in Poland 15 years ago as an American trying to live and work there. [167]

Would this be a good move?

Mike, how many times are you going to ask these same questions? As before, there is really no way for you to relocate to PL indefinitely ("to live out their life"). NONE. By law you can't as you aren't Polish and you cannot gain Polish citizenship. You don't have a valid reason for it. And if you again want answers then look through this forum as all of your questions have been discussed ad nauseam and you KNOW this. Asking the same questions over and over again isn't going to help you in any way.

However, you should keep going and visiting Poland during summers and keep spending your money. Poland would appreciate it very much. :)

History / Vikings in Pomerania (near Gdansk area)? [19]

Read the freaking thread and you will find out.

you are asking for way too much.. wtf man? ;)

find Norse forums.. you won't get the real answer here.. well, you will but not sure how "real" it'll be...

Life / Why Polish people should be proud of being Polish? [370]

Don't say kartoflane!

that's right.. they are ziemniaczane.

As a Scot, I have to disagree. Poles have designed/invented some amazing things and have shown their ingenuity time and again.

agreed

Genealogy / Looking for any and all information on Dabrowski/Dombrowski from Poland [88]

I have, without any luck tried each new idea, and am still looking.

that is not what i have heard now more then once..

Uh...why don't you just type "Dąbrowski/Dąbrowska" into facebook? There's plenty of them around, I know at least 4!

and there are hundreds and he's not related to most of them.. but one would have to follow up on clues that one comes across, from time to time, to figure out who is whom.

Work / CV/Resume style standards in Poland [17]

Really? Resumes are submitted on line nowadays, many employers want 'copy & paste' .txt file or .doc file. Anything with a picture would go to the spam folder. In the age of Identity theft people put this kind of information on the paper and the internet? wtf. Once again, unthinkable.
Maybe it worked 20 years ago, but not now.

yeah but there is always an option to attach a .doc, like you said and thus not a problem with the pic.. as to all the other info.. definitely.. my address is always my p.o. box.. i hate giving out my email too but then i have one just for employment purposes..

Barbara Ehrenreich book on "job coaching" in the USA,

what's the title? because "job coaching" it is not.

Work / CV/Resume style standards in Poland [17]

Omg, totally unthinkable in the USA, in color, with a picture,

not unthinkable at all.. color ones are quite acceptable in certain fields (not much of a difference as many people use different colored paper here instead) and i have had a pic on mine of years.. i think it has helped me way more then not. i always get positive comments about it. and those CVs look way more like resumes then actual CV used in the rest of the world.

Work / CV/Resume style standards in Poland [17]

For example, I have read that over 80% of job seekers include a photo of themselves on the top right-hand side of their CV. Now, doing so would be really tacky in Australia, so naturally I am hesitant. In your experience, is this true?

supposedly tacky here in the USA too but sure as heck has always worked great for me. i'd say, personalize it and make it uniquely yours. :)

Feedback / Why are threads deleted or send off topic list? [60]

this must be the work of the newest mod.. he also seems to get a hardon for renaming thread titles unnecessarily (as they were up to thread title creation rule) and to something that doesn't necessarily match the intent of OPs.

this willy-nilly moderating is starting to get rather tiring..

- Stay on topic. If your post is not related to this thread,

and of course this merge doesn't even follow this rule.. it's not related to this thread at all.. wtf??

History / Polish civilization is older than English or French. Why do Poland follow them? [64]

Polish civilization is older than English or French. Why do Poland follow them?

this may be one of the most interesting things you have posted here crow.. cool..
now, of course PL has interests.. like there was discussion in another thread, PL is recovering from ww2 and the commie occupations of the past.. it is doing rather nicely, don't you think? will poland be a world or even an european powerhouse? we'll see but finding the possible shale deposits may add to its interests.. PL still has a strategic location on the continent being halfway between east and west and north and south.. PL has access to the sea.. all those things will help.. and PL has already established as the ballsy EU member.. so it's all good in my book.

Don't get me wrong but i just don't like it when people on this forum tends to get personal with me. Where im from or where i live ain't your business.

but when you say "we" you imply that you're from PL.. and so, are you? hmm

Do you associate question about ur knowledge on topics as rudeness??

yeah, that's weird but maybe you guys ought to take it to PMs.. eh?

Your question about Polish interests shows that you are confusing politics with culture. Polish culture may be stronger and older than either France or England but politically Poland is much weaker due to foreign domination which weakened the country politically.

over the last century and a half..

Actually no its not, the civilisations are about equally old if you count proto tribes of each as their root civy.

yeah and all of europe started to gather into bigger clans (countries) all about the same time too..

Travel / Bieszczady or Zakopane? [23]

Presumably it has to be agreed/confirmed/booked in advance and I believe there are some determined spots as I doubt that you can pitch a tent anywhere you want, correct?

correct.. camping only at the few disignated "campgrounds".. not sure about reservation, however.. probably wouldn't hurt??

Well, I don't really know how to call it in English.

i told you.. huts

Are there any spas - natural spring type places to go to in that area?

yup.. can't recall the names at the moment.. you may be able to google them though.

Language / Do Poles prefer US American or UK English language? [147]

"international" english is what you want it to be or make it to be. there are only small nuances between all the different versions of english.. really not a big deal at all/
