Life / My experience in Poland 15 years ago as an American trying to live and work there. [149]

Would this be a good move?

Mike, how many times are you going to ask these same questions? As before, there is really no way for you to relocate to PL indefinitely ("to live out their life"). NONE. By law you can't as you aren't Polish and you cannot gain Polish citizenship. You don't have a valid reason for it. And if you again want answers then look through this forum as all of your questions have been discussed ad nauseam and you KNOW this. Asking the same questions over and over again isn't going to help you in any way.

However, you should keep going and visiting Poland during summers and keep spending your money. Poland would appreciate it very much. :)

News / Drug Policy Reform in Poland [29]

there are severe unintended consequences: tens of thousands of young people sentenced to imprisonment

unintended? don't break the law and you won't have a wrecked family, life, etc. it's rather simple, dont you think?

Language / Meaning of the words: na północy/południu? [10]

it would just be interesting to me to know why one would use "północy/południu" for North/South?

that's because that is what those words mean in polish..

USA, Canada / Dual citizenship - US doesn't care if you don't give up Polish passport [103]

Right? Wouldn't be nice if they'd revise it? I would not mind swearing that I'll do my best to represent it well, protect it... I would not mind that at all. But to swear that I give up all allegiance to Poland? That's harsh.

so, do you want to be American or not? if you want to stay aligned to PL then you may stay as Polish citizen.. this isn't really all that hard of a decision..

USA, Canada / Where is loyalty of Polish diaspora in America? In USA or in Poland? What is priority? [63]

No, I went to normal public schools. Jehovah's Witnesses won a legal case many years ago. The pledge is not considered neutral. You pledge your allegiance to the United States of America. Their argument is that only God should have that type of allegiance.

you never ever recited the pledge.. even in the early years? your parents went to the school and said, that you aren't to make such pledges? and the teachers remembered that?

Model citizens, but neutral towards all governments requiring allegiance. Only allegiance to God's Kingdom.

ok, cool. thnx

USA, Canada / Where is loyalty of Polish diaspora in America? In USA or in Poland? What is priority? [63]

Every Pole living in America is either plastic, and not a real Pole, or a traitor. I learned that on this forum.

yes sirrrrr, this forums is informative like that...

PS - Hope you are well and that Canada is thawing out a bit;)

just re-froze.. lol

She is concerned about life's basic issues, the health of our family unit, the safety in our immediate community, and the price of milk. Heating costs haven't gone down and the temperature outside hasn't gone up.

your government crashing can't be a good thing

Crow:
Just curious to whom are loyal American Poles, on the first place.

They swore to do as America requires, including attacking Poland and Serbia if needs be.

We're in no doubt as to where their real loyalty lies.

you two are just babbling about nothing.. Polish Americans are just Americans, just as Softsong says in his post.

Punkt.

nothing new there Shawn.. both are punks, that's for sure.. the delph one has a mouth oh him too..

I am a Polish-American ........ I do not believe in serving "my country right or wrong" regardless of whether it is my current or my ancestral homeland.

seems you are neither Polish nor American just from that statement.

I'm having hard time imagining any decisions I make in real life where I would have to choose between loyalty to Poland vs US.

crow is talking about the evil american empire attacking poland in the nearest of futures.. what would you do in that condition? ;)

Well, being born an American, I never had to swear to anything. :-P

i guarantee you recited the pledge of allegiance to the flag at least once in all those years in school.. oops

So, then.....would I be a traitor to the USA to do this? Or a traitor to Poland to ignore this option. See? Not all things are so cut and dry as you make it out to be.

nah, you are mudding things up for him with all this reality and truth.. that's not how he and crow operate..

I agree

"me first".. definitely bud

Poles living in Poland don't seem to be very patriotic in a first place.

damn.. more facts to kill the grand delusions of deplh and crow.. sheesh girl.. ;) :D :D

do we all have to live according to some definitions made up by bored people?

not just some but crow and delph, yes. at least on PF.. this is their land..

should patriotism be unconditional?

pa·tri·ot·ism /ˈpeɪtriəˌtɪzəm or, especially Brit., ˈpæ-/ Show Spelled[pey-tree-uh-tiz-uhm or, especially Brit., pa-]
-noun
dictionary.reference.com/browse/patriotism

devoted love, support, and defense of one's country; national loyalty

Now you might have different ways of looking at your love for the country. But then this is why I say, we cannot really measure or categorize the feeling of patriotism such that we can make such generalized comments.

yes and you definitely should click the link above for the definition because you don't seem to understand what patriotism means. there was 0 talk of loyalty in your paragraph.. ZERO

I think some people here wish the real world was more like their video games - with clear distinctions between the good guys and the bad guys.

in some of the minds these distinctions are that clear.. there is no gray area.. haven't you been reading these forums for a while now? ;)

There are distinctions ... but often we don't look in the right dimensions ... we love to cover our eyes.

lol.. you do? yeah?

Good citizenship matters.

yes of course.. but so does understanding that.. and that is not 100% chance

Travel / Camping in Zakopane (is it popular and what to expect) [7]

So they have small cabin type huts? Do they have water?

no, pretty large mountain huts. they are very much like hostels and they are not separated coed. well, used to be anyway.

I looked and couldn't find anything on the huts here

did you search for "Zakopane" here? did you play with the different search parameters?

Travel / Camping in Zakopane (is it popular and what to expect) [7]

there isn't much camping possibilities in the mountains, if that's what you're asking about.. however, the huts are excellent way to backpack/hike around the Tatras. there have been a few threads about this in the past. you may want to look for them as they had a lot of good info. good luck and have fun.

USA, Canada / American man with a Polish wife. Will children be dual citizens? [20]

Your post is confusing if not completely wrong. I hope you are not saying that a child born to a US citizen but not in the US is not a US citizen, because that would be false.

if not born on US territory, then one used to have to do the paperwork to become US citizen.. it may be different now though. territory means anywhere like US bases or protectorates or zone or what ever.. it used to not be automatic because of parents.

Feedback / How many hours a day do you dedicate for PF and how often? [21]

that many of you wants to cut off with PF... but can't stop posting here! The craving is too strong. So that's why I want to make a support group for such users. Who wants to subscribe and be the first patient???

believe me, it'll pass.. there aren't that many members here from even just a couple of years ago.. this place is kind of like a revolving door.

(I'd post an ad on PF, but it's bound to degenerate into some sort of massive argument)

lol.. ya think?
