Food / traditional breakfasts in Poland [74]
A funny looking bed.
There's a chap at work who eats tonnes and tonnes of food. I don't know about before he arrives at work, but before he starts he has a tin of rice pudding, then at morning break: a load of ham sandwiches and a hard-boiled egg; at lunchtime the same again. I think he has some fruit as well. Then, allegedly, he eats on the way home as well.
He doesn't bring his sandwiches in in a little plastic sandwich bag. This man measures his breakfast by the bale.

Someone I know in Warsaw has used a couple of different kennels in recent times. In one, her dog was unhappy and destroyed his bed. In the other one, the dog was happy and returned home much happier. Dogs are more important than humans in some respects. I might even be able to find names if you ask nicely.

If I see anyone I work with not washing their hands, I make a point of putting my gloves on before touching anything that they've touched. That includes any occasion they may wish to shake hands!

More common is the situation where girls are coerced or conned into marrying some cousin back in the old country and they find themselves living the rest of their lives in some remote village near the Afghan border with the most backward member of the family their parents could find. Or something like that.
There is one aspect of the culture that deserves to be dishonoured. This situation forces you to think about some very important things in your life, and it's not just about one particular Polish chap you like.

A friend of mine has an English father and a Pakistani mother. She's in her 20s now, so I imagine there could have been a few difficulties when her parents first started seeing eachother, but obviously not impossible.
Ever considered telling your parents that you're running away to join the circus? You could tell them that it's okay, it's a Pakistani circus! (Are there such things? If not, why not?)
More seriously, how easily can you talk with your parents about your own relationships?

You would probably get funny looks and maybe even taken away by the men in white coats if every time you went to the toilet, you then went to the sink and gave your tackle a good scrub clean. Especially if you didn't wash your hands at the same time.
I have a habit of opening toilet doors with the little finger. I just don't trust people smearing their filth everywhere. Speaking of filth, sometimes I even wash after reading the filth some people post on PF.
