Language / Dwa vs. dwie in Polish [85]

There is nothing wrong with the pronoun 'ja' and there is certainly nothing wrong with the dative case either.

Michal, for a non-native speaker your polish is really pretty good, but I do think it's high time you stopped pretending to be an expert in polish grammar.

In all my life I haven't heard people using the word "ku" in the way you try to convince us it is being used. Sorry mate.

Travel / Need information about Czestochowa! Hostels / Hotels? [24]

The whole Jura Krakowso-częstochowska region could be very interesting for people that like to spend their free time in an active way like bike and horse riding or rock-climbing... Yeah there are some incredible rocks to climb in that region, plus a lot of medieval festivals take place in the remainings of the castles there, but I guess it always depends on what individuals like to do...

Food / What's your favorite Polish beer? [870]

butlledgirl, you are a very wise woman. Żywe is in deed a top-notch beer. And since we are talking about small breweries products I would like to recommend Koźlak, Książęce, Kasztelan and of course my all time favorite Fortuna, mmmmmm...

From the mainstream beers, aside of those that already been named, Frater is worth mentioning but I'm not sure if it's still being made. It's been a while since I drank it the last time.

20% alc??? My God, can we still call it beer? :) I would be more than happy to try it. I don't suppose that it's available somewhere in Poland? Maybe Germany? Anybody seen it?

Wielkopolanin z krwi i kości. Only 39 km far from Poznań.

I'll tell you what, You take the strong beer and I'll take śliwowica łącka ( up to 80% alc)... It's going to be fun. :)

The first time I have tried it I lost my breath! It's definitely strong stuff.

And as for American liquor are there any other interesting alcohols from US that you would recommend? Wine, beer, maybe something stronger? I love the Thirsty traveler program, and recently I saw one about Kentucky Bourbon. It made my mouth water...

I'm still waiting to see him making a program about Poland. So far he visited Russia and Czech Republic, so pretty close to us. Maybe in next season? Who knows.

Life / Do Polish People steal a lot? [330]

Nonsense... Polish people do not steal a lot. I can know, because I'm a foreigner living in Poland and usually I'm robbed when being abroad ;) not yet so in Poland!

I agree that it's nonsense! I only steal a little. :P

Life / Poles are not racist [873]

A friend of mine (a woman) got beaten up by a group of black women jut because she was white. During my stay in London I got in several brawls with them local rude boys as well as with some angry Asians who thought I was flirting with some Asian girl, which BTW I weren’t. If it wasn't for few black people from my work I would probably become racist as well as that friend that got beaten. Please, don't try to say that black people and Asians are saints.

Ok Greg....I'm glad the Poles seem to like Blackadder (ww1) as much as us Brits.....They might look like idiots... .but they played a very big part in ending that war as well!!......Not like poor old Poland.....Flat out on its back as usual!!

Easy there aj, take a deep breath and count to 10. :)

Life / Poles are not racist [873]

I was in a supermarket the other day in England my England where you polish are uninvited guests, and there was this group of 7-8 poles and this one very handsome very successful looking asian guy shopping as well.

OMG, what a lovely story with happy end. Still, to make it even more dramatically and thus more interesting I would alter it a little. Check this out: Once on the car park, this envious bunch of filthy Polish wife beaters (it would be good if they were inebriated and smoking some cheap and nasty tobacco) put an attempt to assault this handsome, intelligent and horridly wealthy Asian, but it turns out that aside that he's handsome, intelligent and horridly wealthy Asian, he's also a very bold and fierce martial art master. He beats them up single-handed in a very Hollywood-like spectacular way, humiliates them by forcing to do what Poles are only good at, to clean his brand new Bentley Continental GT that is, and drives away in this shiny brand new Bentley Continental GT with their giggling from joy Polish girlfriends!

After that, all the people that were present on the parking lot, Indians, Pakistanis, blacks, English, Bengali, Chinese, Albanians, Pikes, gays, feminists and ginger midgets start a wonderful synchronous dance to the beat of a lovely song praising the multicultural model of modern Britain! Amen! :))

If you don't like England with all its Pakistanis, Blacks and other ethnics that were born here then go back to Poland, no one asked you to come here in the first place, we've got enough cleaners here as it is.

I don't have anything against pakistanis, blacks, etc... And i don't live in the UK. A very beautiful country if I may add.

sorry when the english get happy they dont dance.. they start shouting and screaming and roaring, chucking beer bottles at the opposition and chanting...

Imposible! Eveyone loves synchronous dance! :)

Look at you assuming the same of all Poles :) You're no better with this attitude.

Exactly. He says that you can not generalise just to generalise that all Poles are racist. LOL

History / 1612 new russian epic movie. Polish troops in Moscow. [25]

i can't wait to see this film. our history is really complicated with guilt on both sides.i hope one day we will be like brothers again...there is a great chance now once that stupid duck has gone down the loo.

Unfortunately Putin is still in his position.

As for the film, sounds interesting.

Why does this constantly come up as a topic and ends up as one big slanging match with the Polish contributors usually coming off worst?

Could you point out few of those posters?

Life / Poles are not racist [873]

Direct translation of Murzyn (Negro) and Murzynka (Negress) have been the subject of discussion in Poland. There is an argument for finding new words due to the associations with slavery and an be viewed as derogatory.

Murzynka means "black lady/woman". Negro would be "Czarnuch" and not "Murzyn".

UK, Ireland / Polish immigration in UK [491]

a more accurate view is that poles, desperate to make as much money as they possibly can, are pricing their fellow poles out of the market

this is obviously an uncomfortable fact for people do deal with... its much easier to blame foreigners than to take responibility themselves

A very fair point Bubba. But just to make things more levelled I think that we ought to mention that:

- polish politicians nor polish people didn't force the EU officials to accept Poland to the European Union

- polish politicins nor polish people didn't force british politicians to open Britains market for EE workers

- and last but not least, polish politicians nor polish people don't force British employers to hire them. Of course by them I mean polish workers and not polish politicians. :)

Basically British employers, desperate to make as much money as they possibly can, choose to hire a pole over their fellow brit, despite those British workers mortgage and obviously starving children, that we keep hearing about on this forum.

This is obviously an uncomfortable fact for people do deal with... its much easier to blame foreigners than to take responsibility themselves.

UK, Ireland / What do you hate about England and English people? [142]

No mention of vinegar on chips?

I love vinegar on chips as well as vinegar crisps. The milk in tea is not bad, but not good as well. I hated those small sausages in my full english breakfast. Can we really call them sausages?

I hate english moaners... Before anybody says anything, I hate the polish ones as well.

Some of the SS Divisions who put down the Warsaw Uprising came from the Boltic States.

Before anyone gets any strange ideas; Ukraine is NOT one of the Baltic states.:))

Love / Polish Girls vs Russian Girls [813]

i don't know but if another pole asks me "what do you think of our women?" i 'm gonna go bananas.
gaaawwwd, i can't even decide where to begin with how stupid a question that is and all the crap sentiments that are loaded in it.

Agree. I have a similar thing but with foreigners saying "so how are your women?" What do you want me to tell you for faks sake? That they love to cook, are very religious, family oriented and although very hard to get they just dream to have a very promiscuous and uncommitted sexual intercourse with a foreigner... Not just any foreigner, but only with you of course!

Although I really have a great admiration for polish women, when someone says that he loves Poland and is only able to come out with one argument to back this claim up, that polish women are hot, I find it very offensive. there's zillions times more to Poland and especially to POLISH WOMEN than just their peace of ass. :/
