Unfortunately Putin is still in his position.

As for the film, sounds interesting.

Be careful - it has as much to do with the history, as "Troy"...and as much with Spaniards as with Poles.:) Just a quite boring fantasy...

I bet , that even contemporary Poles could not perform the Poles in 1612 with true.

Like Kain and Abel, I guess?

I have seen the movie and it sucked. The Polish General got captuerd and dies in a duell at the end, and the polish army flees. I get the feeling that the movie was about the poor against the rich, becuse in the movie the Polish ppl have nice armor and look very noble while the russians looks like poor peasants.

100% russian Propaganda against Poland

I want to see the movie cuz I'd like to know how Russians see that particular era.
But lets make things obvious. The movies release date is quite similar to the election date in Russia? hm?

Plains Indians Were Godless demons with painted faces.
Who ate children.

Maybe in the dark ages. In Connecticut the indians own casino's and are doing better than most. You must remember this is the USA with indian blood mixed with Polish, Irish, you name it. Carol, Connecticut, USA

Slavs have their own spirituality, history, culture, languages... Why would we always accept to `consume` that what foreign media from even hostile countries, present to us.

Independance in spiritual and cultural sphera must be among our priorities. It has same importance as independance in political sense.

I look forward to see new similar and even batter projects then 1612.

Heh... Do you understand Russian in the trailer? You wont be happy to see the movie. Another peace of propaganda. And be prepared one one more - Taras Bulba made by Russian Bondarchuk, coming up in 2008 I believe. Crap. How we can help E. Hoffman to film more? I like his films.

Have you seen the movie?
It actually has unicorns :)

"1612" was commissioned by the Kremlin, and co-produced (and partly funded) by Viktor Vekselberg, a Putin-friendly oligarch with a fondness for symbols of national pride.

Released on November 4th, the National Day of Unity, the film shares its title with the holiday's origin: the 1612 victory of a unified Russian army against Polish invaders. The similarities stop there, however, and critics of the Kremlin have said that the film resembles Soviet propaganda.

After centuries of being screwed by Asian tribes left, right and from behind the Russian decided that a slaughter of a few drunk Poles was the defining point of their history.

For those looking into good movies on Russian history I recommend Andrei Rublev by Andrei Tarkovsky. One of the greatest movies but it's not an easy watch so it is not be suitable for those brought up on the usual Hollywood car chasers.

Poles occupied Moscow twice: first, in 1612, with Lithuanian help.
Second, in 1812, as part Napoleon Grand Armee.

Of course, Russians remember those visits very well till today.:)
