When i see people asking here if Poland is a safe place, i ever think: Compared to Where?
But now i realize how Poland is safe., specially when compared to some countries much more developed.
I think that the most incredible comparison is when we compare the statistics of Poland with a "Developed" country like Sweden.
At Sweden you have 987 cases of assault per 100 thousand habitants every year.
At Poland you have only 2.
The most alarming thing is when you see statistics of Rape:
Sweden is the second country in Rape cases in the world (just after Lesotho, in Africa). 1 in each 4 swedish woman was or will be raped during their lifes.
While Poland have only 4 rapes per 100k habitants/year, Sweden have incredible 53 Rapes per 100k habitants/year.
A Polish woman, in terms of rape, is 13 times safer than a swedish woman.
What makes that difference be so huge?

I Think that Poland is a great and low crime country for few reasons:
1 - The Slavic culture is, within, very peaceful (Ok, i know that i am sounding like the BS that Crow usually says). After so many struggles they united and sometimes i feel that people take care of each other. This is a very beautiful characteristic of the polish culture that all Poles should be extremelly proud and NEVER let anyone try to disrespect it. Even i being brazilian i learned to admire it. Poles should never let immigrants censor their culture.
2 - Poland doesn't see people rioting in the streets for more riots or benefits. After years of Failed Communism, the Polish people learned that you are responsible for yourself, not the government.
3 (AND MORE IMPORTANT): Poland is still a "Political Correctness Frenzy" Free country! That is Wonderful! A Criminal pays when he commit a crime in Poland. Even if he is from a "minority" or from another "Religion"

Norway and Sweden have the same cultural and demographic background. Until Sweden import more than 300 thousand Somalis, Afghanis and other "refugees" with Muslim background.
You cannot associate third world with violence. Some of the most peaceful nations of the world. Bhutan (Asia), Mauritius (Africa), Uruguay and Chile (Latin America) are safer than most european countries and are all considered third world (maybe Chile couldnt be considered third world anymore, but is still latin america).
Also, Both Uruguay and Chile are "Western Nations".
So why Bhutan, Mauritius, Uruguay, Chile and Poland are so Safe?
Simple: You don't see people in Warsaw, Santiago or Montevideo ashamed of be Poles, Chileans or Uruguayans. It is not the absence of immigrants, but the fact that immigrants in those countries NEED to assimilate the national culture if they want to stay there.
All those countries are modern secular democracies with catholic majority, and even if an immigrant of another religion goes there he will be accepted, unless he tries to enforce his religion on others. That is how it should be.

It is NORMAL for young people will to emigrate, even when the economic situation is good. Just see how many people left countries like Switzerland or Finland to open companies in places like Singapore, Silicon Valley, etc.

Love / Brazilian-Polish couple in London - not getting married for permanent visas [4]
What is his profession? Depending of his profession, it cannot be all that difficult to a Pole to find a job in Brazil (despite the economic downturn of the country). Also there are a lot of places in Brazil that doesn't ask for english speaking.
Sure it is. As you, i am also a Brazilian dating a Pole separated by almost 6000 kilometers, despite i visit her every month.
My plans to solve that are in something like 1 years and a half i plan to open a business (i am still doing the market research to decide which country, of course Poland is one of them) and she thinks about be my partner at it.
and in any case he would have to support himself for some time there (without being a citizen, how??), before applying for Brazilian citizenship.

Attract skilled well-educated highly adapted immigrants with a culture that goes in line with the Polish values.
Example: Educated Ukrainians doctors going out from their war-torn country, Creative South-Koreans engineers wishing to open their startup in a country with plenty of UE money, Skilled Brazilians statistician trying to escape a repressive neo-communist government, Chilean Investors wishing to put money in the economy and there the list goes.

I lived in Lodz doing humanitarian work with poor kids. In Uk i never lived but made few business visits. In France in fact i had never been.

According to the Catholic Religion, there is no problem you marry him, since the Catholic Religion allows intermarriages between woman and men ("There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28)"). Probably his family will accept with time, don't worry.
But according to Islam you can not marry him and probably no Iman will accept it and can generate backslash with time.
It is very clear in the Quoran: Sura An Nisa 34 " "Men, and Husband, have authority over women,and Wife, because Allah has made the one superior to the other." "
On the other hand, the Sura 60 of the Quoran establishes that a Muslim should not be subject to the authority of a Non-Muslim.
Hence, No Marriage between Non-Muslim Man and Muslim Woman is valid.
On the other hand, a Muslim Man can marry as many Non-Muslim woman as he wishes, since the husband, muslim, will have the ultimate word and the kids will be raised as muslims.

You repeat 100 times that i didnt lived in Poland will not change the fact that i lived in Poland, more specifically in Lodz, Baluty. I Will not prove it to you anyway.

After India and Egypt, Turkish are the 3rd biggest number of immigrants in the country that i live, being around 4% of the Population. So yeah, i met lot of them.

Everytime i go to Warsaw i still attract a lot of stares (i am not black, but i have a Phoenician/Latin look, so still pretty different of the majority)

Travel / Suggestion for nightlife in Poland [28]
While i was living in Lodz, i loved to go to a club called Gossip. I also enjoyed Czekolada, although the dancefloor there was pretty hot (literally, not in a good way hahaha). Don't go to Bedroom, this club if full of disgusting old man trying to pick stupid girls, pathetic scene that no one deserve to see.
In Warsaw i can recommend Meta (nice and relaxed atmosphere) and Enklawa for the relatively cheap drinks + good music (altough there usually some old guys appear trying to pick every girl and this is ridiculous).
Just be aware that most clubs have a dress code policy and also they make door selection.
Use a nice outfit, a good perfum, dont arrive drunk neither in big groups or behaving like a moron and you will not have a problem to enter :)
(And if you are in Poland, try as many different vodkas as you can!!!! Really, it is the biggest treasure of the country).

There is not a problem i. As i stated before, the catholic church doesn't veto the marriage of Non-Catholics with catholics.
In Poland this is not different.
Even some instances (Opus Dei) disagreeing with that, this is not usually a problem.
Yeah, i am not a muslim, but It is of my business because i live in a country where the laws are the Islamic (Sharia) laws and before move here i needed to study every single law, including the one that doesn't allow Non-muslim man to marry muslim woman.
