UK, Ireland / Poles 2nd to Indians in UK [23]

There is word where I live that the ***** houses are run by the Poles and Russians. I doubt they are working together but have no first hand experience (YUK!). It seems there is a lot of animosity between Russian and Polish males, but not with the females.

Are you suggesting that the ****** in your area are all Polish or Russian? 'There is word' amounts to hearsay.
Although, you do have some experience with Polish women... Is this how you would describe your partner? I'm sure she'd be flattered at your ignorant comments...

Where did you two meet again? Somewhere locally? Does she get on with the Russian girls...?

Life / Is Poland a poor country? [578]

You are funny TommyG

Thank you:) You're too kind:)

When you grow up you will understand that England is one of the richest, most diverse, most tolerant countries in the world.

No it's not! When will you grow up and stop bashing Poland? We're all very aware of why you're acting so childish...

Do you honestly think I know nothing about Poland?

Yes. To say that you are biased and critical would be a huge understatement...

I cannot dispute your figures but can you provide some comparative figures for Poland?

Can I? Maybe... Will I? No...

Don't forget that Age Concern are producing these figures to suit their objectives.

So Age Concern are lying? Those people weren't admitted to hospital? They didn't die? Electricity is cheap and affordable for pensioners?

Rich country my 4SS... Rip-off Britain... welfare Britain... call it want you want but don't say that Britain is in some way superior to Poland because I will just laugh at you:D

I don't see how one average European country with so much poverty can call another European country poor... lmfao:D

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

Depends on whether those couples took out a mortgage 2 years ago or if they have yet to do so.

know what you're saying. But by the end of the mortgage it is highly unlikey that they will be in a negative equity situation. (Even if prices do drop short-term, they will in all probability recover in 2 decades time)

Very bad English, but I'm tired...
I wonder if there is anyone on the forum who bought a property in say 2004-6 who can honestly say that thereir property is now worth less than when they bought it?

Other than Poznan? I think a lot of cities had only single or low double-figure depreciation. Certainly nowhere near enough to devlaue properties below that 243% rise...

Life / Is Poland a poor country? [578]

In what way? What makes Poland poor and the UK rich?
Surely, if Poland is a poor country what about the UK and other EU countries?
In the UK the elderly have a choice of eating or heating their homes (as stated by the Daily Fail - above).
In the UK young couples can't afford to get on the property ladder and are forced to live with their parents or rent...
I won't even mention all the repossessions...
Do do even remember that the UK govt had to bail the banks out?
Surely countries such as Greece and Spain with 25% unemployment and facing bankruptcy and on the verge of being booted out of the Euro are poorer countries?

In the worst case scenario (which is quite likely) when Greece declares bankrupcy British banks will forfeit £billions in loans. A second credit crunch could very well be on its way...

Fortunately, it won't affect me in my nice warm flat in 'poor' old Poland :D:D:D

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

Read more:

So, I read more and thought that I'd paste the sections that you decided to leave out to:

By contrast, younger couples are finding it increasingly difficult to get on the property ladder.
House prices have soared over the past three decades, and the average house price is now around £160,000 - and far higher in London and parts of the South.

Young people, who typically buy with a large mortgage, are forced to rent or to live with their parents.Buyers are being stymied by lack of mortgage finance and large deposits so they are struggling to access the housing ladder.

homeowners with no mortgage currently own properties worth around £2,000billion, around 40 per cent of the total value of the housing market.
Latest figures, from the Council of Mortgage Lenders, show how the number of mortgages being handed out has collapsed from the much higher levels before the credit crunch.

So basically, in the UK the numbers of homeowners with a mortgage are falling because the price of houses are too expensive and the banks aren't lending.

People are being forced to rent or stay with their parents. It must be nice for all those 'wealthy' people in the UK, unable to get on the property ladder...

If house prices are falling in Poland surely that's a good thing for young couples:D

Life / Is Poland a poor country? [578]

Yes Really! And as a Pole you will be aware as it gets colder, more people will freeze in their homes like this poor fellow

A hard fact of life when you are poor in Poland.

This is the time when I send you a spoon so that you can eat my As5...

All I can say is that it's a good job that people in Poland enjoy the luxury of better insulated housing and cheaper heating. As this article shows that the death of pensioners in the UK as a result of hyperthermia - in their homes! is absolutely shocking:

dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2100232/Frozen-death-fuel-bills-soar-Hypothermia-cases-elderly-double-years.html

Here are a few choice extracts from the Daily Fail (online): the headline:

Frozen to death as fuel bills soar: Hypothermia cases among the elderly double in five years

- 1,876 patients treated for hypothermia in 2010/11
- Hypothermia death toll within 30 days up from 135 to 260
- Coincides with a surge in energy prices
- Industry analyst estimates 8 out of 10 households ration energy use
- Age UK says a quarter of all pensioners live in fuel poverty

The number of pensioners dying from hypothermia has nearly doubled in five years, a period when a succession of cold winters has been coupled with drastic rises in energy bills.
[...]

So... Poland is a poor country?

If the UK is so wealthy then why did 1,876 pensioners get admitted to hospital in 2011/11 from hyperthermia? Why are so many dying?
Answer: they can't afford to heat their homes because it costs too much.
I personally feel ashamed to be associated with such a country. Just imagine if Britain felt -25/30 conditions! How many more would die?
What do you think Ant63?
Who's the cold and poor country now?

UK, Ireland / Any Polish Muslims in London? [30]

I imagine that there are more Polish Muslims in the whole of Poland than in London.
So, what makes you think that Polish people of the Islamic faith need charity in Poland?
Couldn't non-Muslim Poles contribute to this cause?

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

High quality global journalism requires investment.

It requires high quality journalists. I could have written such a report...
Rather than considering that website the gospel when it comes to Polish matters I searched for an independent source for unemployment figures.
Here: epp.eurostat.ec.europa.eu/statistics_explained/index.php?title=File:Unemployment_rates,_seasonally_adjusted,_October_2012.png&filetim estamp=20121130092724

I've linked: Euroatat - The European Commisions website which paints a very different picture to that of your journalists who are badly in need of some investment...

The figures show that in October 2012 Poland has 10.4% unemployment which is lower than the EU27 average of 10.7%.... interesting huh?
Of course these figures are only a fraction of that of the failing ecomies of 'western European' countries such as ~Greece and Spain who both have rates over 25%, and Portugal who has 16.3%...

The central European countries such as Austria, Poland, Germany and Czech Republic aren't doing that bad...
Poland is also enjoying much lower unemployment than many of her neighbouring countries...

Now, I'm not sure what all this means in real terms Milky, but it looks like you will have to wait at least another couple of years before you can buy any kind of property some time soon:D

I find it hilarious that neither Milky, Peterweg nor Foreigner4 could answer 3 simple questions:

1) What was the percentage price increase (year on year) between 2004 to the peak in 2008.

2) What is the percentage fall in prices since peak of 2008 (you can allow for inflation).

3) How many homes have been repossessed in the past 4 years as a percentage of mortgage holders.

If you guys are going to pretend to be some kind of experts on the housing market in Poland surely these should be straight-forward, easy-peasy questions to answer.

As neither of you are - as your following silly answers demonstrate :

1) Don't know.

3) Don't know

*possible dumb question begins*

*possible dumb question over*

Milky couldn't even bring himself to attempt to answer any of the questions...

You guys got owned, LMFAO :D

If anyone can answer those questions it would be useful to know the answers. I'm considering a purchase should I stay here long-term.

Any advice on the issue would be greatly appreciated :D

Are you a proper teacher Tommy or a TEFLer :D

If you read my first post (as I'm sure you have) then you will know that I do indeed have a TEFL qualification.
I will be taking my CELTA in Kraków next year.
I'll let the schools and the students decide on whether I'm a proper teacher or not.

I don't think so but I do manage to upset you because you have surmised incorrectly I am Hudsons alter ego.

No, I didn't think that at all. You two have very different reasons for coming on PF. And your writing styles differ. Your intelligence levels are similar though...

Highly intelligent reply.

I was being honest. The heating in my flat is awesome:) and free:)

Food / How natural is food in Poland? [25]

The average Brit cooks food from all parts of the world 7 days of the week.

Does that include microwave meals and take-aways?

The average Pole is fiercly nationalistic about anything Polish to the extreme that they build Sleps on every street corner, and a lot of Poles shop exclusively at these little stores in the UK.

So, are you saying that Polish food is natural or not?

You expose yourself everyday. It will bite you in the ass one day.

Yawn... Oh no my gf's ex is Polish, let's bash Poland...

What's Quatar got to do with this.

I was illustrating my point :

All I have said on this topic is that a country's wealth is relative. Poland is 'poor' compared to some countries but 'wealthy' compared to others...

So compared to somewhere like that many countries are quite poor (on paper).

Maybe this gives an indication of reality to you. It's not even really cold yet.

Wow! Great article. If it's gunna get any colder I might have to close some windows...

hudsonhicks: Tommy doesn't realise that. He's too infatuated with Poland and everything Polish it's gone to his head. Anything he believes is even mildly critical of his new found country he goes berserk
agreed. Going through the honeymoon period, the poor fool.

Neither of you fools know anything about me. Milky why do you call me a poor fool? Is it because I don't live in your fantasy world?

All I have said on this topic is that a country's wealth is relative. Poland is 'poor' compared to some countries but 'wealthy' compared to others...

So who's the richest country in the world? It's Qatar of course!

News / March for Poland's democracy organized by PiS 13th Dec [49]

Surely one successful vote of no confidence should be acceptable in any democracy...
In Poland.... I dunno...
But, of course, if the motion is defeated the losers need to accept that also...
Poland does have elections and the public will ultimately decide who their govt is...

That English being not a free people but subjects do not see the need to march for democracy.
And yes, they like to manipulate other people words.

the English are a free people. The monarchy has no power.

p3undone are you asking how often can PiS lose elections?

In Poland they are called P1SS... Apparently they aren't very popular...

Why march for democracy when you already have it?
Brits dont March for the Monarchy... we already have it.... we don't march for womens right either.... seems kinda strange...

It is impossible to say because people Jew is not a country....

Exactly. Judaism is a religion. does it matter if someone is Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Hindi, Pagan, Atheist or Buddish?
Surely any immigration policy should be equal regardless of religion (or nationality)...

Yup. He's happy post here with his name and address and an admission of guilt, all it needs is a complaint.

He's given all this...
Name: HudsonHicks
Address: Wales (house with the Lech cans in the back garden)
Admission of guilt: 'I'm racist' (can be backed up with his 400+ posts)
Easy:D

Maybe they can teach you something

I'm sure if HudsonHicks met some real Poles and shared his wise words of wisdom he would receive a warm welcome:D
After he hears the words "O co chodzi" he will be warmly welcomed by his new friends with the 'Wypierdolić' (a Polish traditional greeting).

After that I'm sure he will be converted:D
