Real Estate / Cousin stole my dads home in Poland... [49]

People sometimes call flats their "house" here. It could be a simple miscommunication or poor choice of word.

I think you are right cuz lately a girl asked me that she likes "desk of meat" in a restaurant in old town that confused me for a while but then I learnt that its pronounced as deska of meat(or something in polish) and she just transformed the word in english.

Travel / House clubs in Warsaw? [18]

Merged:

Lately the clubs and discos are not crowded in Warsaw

I went to Paparazzi and surrounding clubs on a saturday night and the place had so many vacant places,I have been going there for last 13 years and never saw that kind of vacancy,to get your drink at the bar was like 1,2,3!before took me atleast 10/15 mins to buy one, since this was in july maybe its vacation time? or was just financial crisis,to back that up I went to Senator club and pleanty of others on Saturday and friday evenings(which are suppose to be peak during the week) and found the same scene.Anyone notice that and whats the reason...I remeber all clubs and eaterys were busy and booming but I felt that not this time.I go to Poland every month and see this trend increasing.

Law / Polish visa expert? Japanes moving to Poland to study Polish. [43]

The same with EU citizens going the opposite way.

So far I have never heard or seen any American deported until unless he is a criminal to the USA,Yes they are fines 450 euros and if they dont have money are told not to come back before 180 days and with the money or else(I dont know or heard what ever happend to idiots who did or didnt bring 450 euros with them) but I have seen couple of first hand cases of europeans being deported,

It works I've done it 3 times before getting my Karta Pobytu.

Well! it all depends on the border guard,as Poland guards enforce it at there will and do discriminate if you are of Polish origin,or your attitude or whatever....no gurantees as I have seen both sides where people are fined and where people are let to slide through..anyway legal is 90/180 rule but germany, france,UK,and some other countries do enforce it.

I don't think you deserve a thing.Anyway, if you want it back, then you need a very good Polish lawyer. It's going to cost you a lot of money and time, however

The location of the house is heart of Warsaw centre..I would fight tooth and nail for that money thats worth probably over 10/15 mil PLN...and as per court cases if he has the money I suggest fight and complicate the case as much as you can until the other party gets tired and tries to reach an settlement..which mostly they do including big companies and then settle!but worth fighting for and spending money on lawyers will be expensive but Hey it was suppose to be yours, get something atleast out of it.

(He mentioned house so my opinions was for house not for an apartment if he meant that, because apartment would not be worth it)

Incidentally, they will issue a zameldowanie regardless of your actual residency status, as it's a piece of paper that confirms your address in Poland - not a paper that confirms your legal stay.

True!I have seen couple of my friends reprimanded on airport by the border control and some who were loud mouths fined 450 euros,if they didnt have it they were told not to come back or to come back with the money pay at any border control of any country as it was being fed in the SIS( schengen information system) computer, other than that I have not seen an American being deported or else. But again by law one cant stay over 90 days(mind you 90 days not 3 months as some has that myth as 3 months are 32 days sometimes also)

Infact immigration is very easy if you have proper paper work and guidance what is needed,in Poland I have seen immigration being a somewhat flexible also..depending on the persons attitude and nature.

News / What really happened at the Krakow restaurant? [53]

PennBoy
Do yu really think in this kind of situation and in court of law his comments will not be used against the restaurant?I read the reviews of that restaurant...most were good but some did complain about the staff.then again its my opinion who knows what really happened. Also my personal experience I have seen polish people in house some have a jewish picture and also in some businesses, when I asked if they were jewish the answer was a blunt NO! they just had the picture of a jewish man for luck to make money...wonder what that meant!
