Food / Polish cakes made in Poland [72]

sponge cakes

When I first moved to PL I was amused to see a brand of cakes labelled as "keks". Where I'm from, the word keks means underpants.

cack

Quite.

Interestingly men's knickers are called kecks in Sheffield, Rotherham, Leeds but down the road in Doncaster they're called kegs.

Lincoln Creams

I'd try one. Maybe there's a historic connection with Lincoln.

UK, Ireland / Polish immigrants in the UK - victims or criminals?! [234]

The homicide rate in the UK is about 11%

And in Poland 0,6%

No it isn't. Where did you get that from?

A Quick Look shows that it's 0.7 in Poland, 1 in the U.K. and 6.4 in the U.S.

I am a 67 year old man

You said you were 75 yesterday.

UK, Ireland / "Strange " English language.. [169]

American English is just SIMPLIFIED English.

And not standard English which is spoken by second language speakers worldwide who often struggle to understand them.

Their non-standard textbooks (the few that exist) don't sell well outside their own country and the few that are available elsewhere are just versions of U.K. ones printed primarily for South Korea and not big sellers. Even Mexico prefers textbooks in Standard English.

objectively easier to understand

Millions disagree with you.

Standard English (the clue is in the name) is 5he dominant form of English and is vastly preferred by learners and speakers worldwide.

the music maestro that was James Brown.....

One of the best; a guy with real talent who beat the prejudice within the music industry and the bitterness from white trash.

Here's a nice one from everyone's favourite hillbilly:

mostly awful for actually learning anything

Yet used by millions in preference to any other. Millions who do actually learn and do pass their exams.

and is the most widely understood variety

A local form of English?

That's far from reality. English English is by far the most widely used and understood. Even people who watch foreign stuff on TV like Breaking Bad prefer to study using textbooks in standard English and of course the exams they sit are Cambridge ones.

I had great experience with them as a student

You should see some of the current ones. They change often of course and the newest ones are amazing.

dingleberries

People say that in Yorkshire too.

I probably shouldn't dunk when around Polish people. I don't know if it's more acceptable now.

I do and don't give a damn if they look askance.

The Blues had a Baby and the named it Rock and Roll

Black music sanitised by white boys and most importantly music publishers.

but from the 50`s like Miles Davis

I like that too. The whole bebop era played by people who came back from the war and found there was still segregation. A real (and justified) anger and the raw music that came out of it.

The Irish song, the performance, and the freak who performs it should be in a lunatic asylum or locked up

Why?

Why does Egypt maintain a blockade with Gaza?

Because the people squatting in the Gaza Strip are Egyptian and Egypt uses them as a pawn.

Great that Switzerland won; it was a good entry.

BE makes them appear more educated

And why not?

Is every Polak a moron?

Most aren't, however you are in every sense.

Sounds like another leftist grievance

Or fact.

Also, you forgot about the white "Brits" sanitizing everything American then

Except it isn't sanitised for a poor while audience. One reason it was so much better than the pap put out for radio audiences over there.

American accents, but there were plenty that never did..

Here's one that proudly did however they did it all
so much better than over there

@Crnogorac3
That's no answer.

The Irish performer seems great.

all mindless Pop tunes

That's the point of it.

The Swiss entry was a good oen, and excellent that the Israeli entry won the piopular vote.

a Satanic orgy

Don't be so stupid.

Anyway, you post links to Adolf Hitler and neo-nazi stuff so don't come all moralistic over a singer you don't like.

they will destroy everything

You were destroyed long ago.

they should return to England

No thanks. Anyway, they left centuries ago and are doing nicely as they are.

Gaza however is contiguous to the most populous part of Egypt from whence come most of the residents of Gaza. In 1948 the Gaza Strip had a tiny population.

Do one fat cherry boy.

if it wants to pay the bills for putting the shindig on

I remember a few years ago that Ireland put a deliberately bad entry in. They'd won twice and were worried about forking out a third time.

It's good for hotel and restaurant revenue though.

Then who are

You missed the point as usual, troll.

'Bury' or reply.

And you missed the point completely.

Anyway, this thread is about a song contest that you aren't party to. One won bybSwitzerland who had an excellent entry.

Don't watch it, don't comment, don't even notice

Yet so many do.

And the viewing figures are massive.

I didn't watch it

So there you go. I'm sure the organisers are weeping tears of pıss.
