Life / Living Costs and life in Poznan? [70]

Merged: COST OF LIVING IN POZNAN

Hi everyone!

I am planning to move to Poznan soon. I wanted to know how much do I need to carry with me if i want to move there. I don't have a jobs at the moment but willing to be registered at an address there and then go for 'hunting'..

I am currently living in a small town with my wife and I've got some savings which is around 2-3k PLN....

Can any of you please tell me the monthly cost of living in Poznan? I would be grateful to you if you could break it down for me!

Regards!

Karl

Thank you all for replying. ;)

In regards to looking for work I don't know what kind of work you are in

What kind of work will you be looking for?

It would be nice to know what you plan on doing here

Well, same answer to you three guys- Actually I am not into teaching. Because teaching I believe requires a talent which I don't have. No matter what qualification someone got, but if they don't have that talent its hard to share knowledge. And I don't want to mess with those kids future. But I'd say my field is Accounting, Management, Service industry (Hotel, restos, bar, clubs, call centres).

But I'll give preference to Accounting and Mgt first because I am an ACCA student and been working at supervisory level in a care setting in UK for 3 years.

Well from what you all have been posting I can assume that for the first month:

Rent +deposit= 1800PLN
Bills= 200PLN
Travel= ??? (assumed 100PLN)
Food= 700 PLN
Entertaiment & Clothing= 100PLN

Which sum up to : 3900PLN.

Am I correct ladies & gents?

Law / HOW LONG DOES THE APPLICATION FOR KARTA POBYTU TAKE TO PROCESS IN POLAND! [36]

Hi all. I sent my application to the corresponding department for my karta pobytu. I received a letter last week saying that they will take another 24 days to make a decision and on Monday I received a second letter saying that a personel from the immigration department will come to visit me next week!

Reading through all these replies on this thread, I didn't see anyone talking about this bit (visit from the immigration) which is making me more frustrated at the moment to be honest. Why are they taking 24 days more? My schengen visa expires just one day for the 24 days and I wonder what will happen if they take longer than that.

Law / ARE POLISH PUBLIC SECTOR WORKERS INEFFICIENT? [6]

Hi!

I sent some documents to be processed to XYZ department of the public sector... However, I encountered two major problems with them, which both were paperworks unacceptable mistakes.

1) In January I sent my documents to that department. 1st week of Feb I received a letter which was addressed to me on the envelop but the content of the letter was sometimes referred to me (Mr Local Fela) and sometimes to Mr 'IdontKNOW'... So who the hell is this man? And why they wrote me a letter telling me that Mr 'IdontKNOW' should do this and that?? mmmmmmm

When me wifey called that person who signed at the end of the letter addressing herself as a 'Director' of the institution we were surprised.... WHY? Because:

Whenever it was referring to Mr 'IdontKNOW' it was actually referring to me but as Mr 'IdontKNOW' most of the time and rarely by my name.....

2) In March, a second letter was sent to me and one to my wife... Mine was clearly written this time...BUT my wife's letter....ha ha ha or ggggrrrrrrrrrrrr..... Written: 'Mrs Local Lady' you are married to Mr Local Fela... You will.............with your husband Mr 'whoZfRu'.... She was mad when she read that bit...When we translated this letter it was OMG..... implying that my wife got 2 husbands...... And not to mention, it was again signed by the same 'Director'........... We called again... Sheprasham pany... its a mistake I was referring to your husband Mr Local Fela...WTF.....

Well, I have been staying in many countries and I have never received any profesional document like this from a public institution......And the document I sent them does not only concern the Polish Govt but even one department of the EU institution....

I don't know what will happen if this case or this letter is given to a newspaper and sent to the EU respective department...

Why like this? Naming a director who can't even write a formal letter??

I doubt you are important for them or us to give a flying **** about a sloppily written letter.

Well mate, I think you got it wrong this time! It never happened to me since I've been living in UK and in France.... So for me its kind of 'absurd' (if I am permitted to say). Standard matters!

Go To Pozcta Polska to buy some stamps, get a number from their ticket machine and read a book you ll have 2 hours to spend

I can't get you mate. What do you mean!

Life / Teenage Pregnancy in Poland [108]

Hi...

I was recently reading some news which caught my mind about teenage pregnancy. In the city I live I think I've seen and met more teen-mum rather than just 'teens'...

Is there any problem in Poland concerning population or sex education? Because I think Poland will soon be leading in European chart for having the most teenage pregnancy!!

Most of my girlfriend friends have at least one baby when they were only 19 years old. Is it a social taboo or sort of culture among Polish in Poland? I started the thread as I think the problem does not only lie here but in fact, with teen mums which adds up a significant number in the unemployment list and young fathers who still enjoys like being a single teen lad....and goes into drugs and alcohol.

How do you find it?

Life / Teenage Pregnancy in Poland [108]

abortion is illegal in Poland!

but many of them go too countries like UK to do abortion but not all of them can afford them, can they?

And I came to know recently that the priest in my local city have said that he is not going to do any marriage for those who got pregnant ''outside'' the marriage bond unless it was a ''When the pregnancy is a result of a criminal act'' as Pip said above!

But actually have you noticed the ladies around you with a prom... just guess their age next time! I know it might not be fair as it could be the teen's sibling but a bit of enquiry doesnt harm! does it!!! ;)

Life / Teenage Pregnancy in Poland [108]

Why sterilise a teen when we have sex education?? Countries like Sweden and others are going very good in managing teen pregnancy!!! Its better and might be cheaper too! Even in developing countries kids/teens are have an hour or so of sex education! I think its govt responsibility as the they will save a lot in the long run...

How do you know these girls are un married you judgemental twats?

I am not going to start a thread on here without doing any research and make fun of this country and its people. As you can see no 'developing' country form part of this list of teen pregnancy by countries..... I think a country like Poland should do more about it as it is a country will is full of cultures and trads....

My mum was married (in a Church 'n' everything...)at 17,had me at 18

Thats why you are so abusive and lack manners! So you can see my point here, 'the consequence'' of having a kid when teen results to; having a kid who will be idiot like you on earth!

And read what I wrote again....

In the city I live I think I've seen and met more teen-mum rather than just 'teens'...

FYI in this city I live is a small one where people know each other its not my problem if people are talking about that next to me! I started this thread to see others views and your views is like those who are born by a teenage and immature mother! Now stop being abusive for no reason otherwise you will be reported!

Glad you noticed my writing skills though

The prize will be given at the end of the year for the best writer in PF.. We will consider your effort!

Back to the topic now!

My gf when she was only 18 she was insisting she wanted a baby! But I didnt want to

She's a professional screenwriter, and her finances are secure enough

Its because of this what this guy wrote on top! I didn't have enough means to support myself and my gf and she was very argumentative at that time! But today she realised that what I said it was right as she saw that our financial position is worse than before and on top we would have had a baby... She told me 1 week ago that how her friends suffers now after being pregnant at 17 and didn't finish school, couldn't enjoy life, ruined career....

Why teens want to have a baby not because they are ready to be a mum but looking at others (other friends)...But they don't know that there is still much in life to learn and to experience which once you become a parent when teen you will 80% land up in working a shop and having a less than average life style both you, your partner (with who yuo have the baby and if he/she is still with you) and the kid!!!

Merged: What to visit in Krakow?

Hi, I am going to Krakow for 2 nights! the first day will be over due to travel and a job fair! I have Sunday from 10am to lets say 10pm! I wanted to know what I can visit in minimum money! I don't know much about that City! I think one 12 hours is enough to visit most of the places in the City as it can't be bigger than Paris which we visited in less than 12 hours when we went there last August!

thank you!

Life / Things that annoy you in Poland. [114]

hate that dog sh*t

yes me too! every morning you get up and go for s short walk, you will see people less than dog ****!! i dont know why these people dont clean it up after that! its absolutely disgusting!!

2. billing system- hate the way the bills are made! its prepaid on an assumption basis! hahaha! the most stupid system I've ever seen on earth.. trying to use tax system for bills and ''council tax''

3. Can't praise any other women if you are married. Like Asian countries were before! lol

4. the roads are abs sugar!

5. public cannot raise their voice. there is a sugar factory next to my house which gives bad smell everytime and its situated in a residential area but still people just take it on the chin, bow there head down and move their arse!

6. the way old people interferes in your personal matter!!

7. transport facilities- this is a disgrace- railways are not secured just open to anything/anyone and from Torun to Krakow 2 ways is 200PLN!! omg! people barely work for 1000PLN a month!

8. wastage of resources: like one of our friend said earlier that recycling should be encouraged on a larger scale. Poland is resourceful! they have things which could be used not only in summer but even in winter if more budgets is allocated to the national R&D department. 23% VAT yet poor living standard, poor govt services, ill mannered staffs.......

I still have more but they are not coming now! lol! I dont like these thing but as the water didnt reach my nose level yet I'll be here! once they reach there... I'll find a solution!

News / Don't go to Poland ... because you could end up coming back in a coffin [313]

Well, as we all know that the Euro is approaching but there are concerns about security for foreigners; especially coloured and black people. I was just watching a documentary on BBC and it shows how some Polish football fans are RETARDED, still living in Hitlers era despite being in the 21st century. Well I won't talk about Ukraine here as this is polishforum.

But its absolutely disgusting to host such an event but not sorting out security of travelling fans. And I noticed that politicians are more concerned about that dead fella in the plane crash rather than sorting out future problems which will affect the country as a whole, not just in football but in every single thing. Even Germans don't talk about Hitler and Jews than Polish people do.

I think Platini (UEFA President) did a mistake by letting these beautiful countries but with a lot of retarded fans host this event which is going to be watched by billions of people around the globe. Fans are not attending football matches just because of this thing which Eastern European football is famous about- RACISM!!!

Do you think that if Poland is involved in racism and abuse during this EURO they should be banned from participating in EURO and World Cup and other sports or just never to host any International Sporting event? Or worse? As Michel Platini is not the man who will tolerate such things. He might even impose that Polish football teams not to participate in any Champions League or Europa League tournaments.

There are many countries which banned football and other sporting events around the globe just because of discrimination, racism and religious abuse.

Should your govt take more action in this Euro tournament and everyday life concerning racism rather than still mourning on someone who is dead since last year?

NB: I am not abusing anyone nor being racist but I am just talking about 'Life in the 21st century''. So I expect no racism comment underneath nor abusing any one commenting on here!

Cheers

Karl

News / Don't go to Poland ... because you could end up coming back in a coffin [313]

Bieganski
Its for some idiots to understand! Where have this term been considered racial if you are saying something not abusive?

What for? In fact Platini knows better than you. He visited Poland many times during last 4 years and even earlier. Are you intolerant to Polish people?

Yes that does not mean if someone visited any country they would allow them to prepare for attacks to the visiting fans. He came here to assess the place and not on holiday. And yes they should be excluded if its found that Polish fans are racially abusive towards fans and players. As elsewhere in Europe, clubs, the fans, the locals and the businesses don't like people who are still retarded. huh still doing pretending to be Hitler in the 21st century where Germans are even not talking about this anymore. Is there any worse word to describe retarded? Because this is what seems to be! It applies to some section of the fans! Not the whole lot of Poland. Especially football fans!

I am very sorry to hear that. Hope your family got over it sooner as predicted! Well, I have to agree that polish people are still way back from being linked with the life in the 21st century! The world of football is so closed minded! Well after reading few points here, I have to say that I declare myself out of supportig Poland this time out! Better go with the Hitlers- as polish football fans are still deluded about hitlers and jews! f that! RETARDED! yes I said it! And on top I have seen police of Krakow when the League winner's fans were celebrating in Krakow! They are just scared... Well from some sources I do hear that they are corrupted! Its a shame! total SHAME

Love / My Polish bf cheated on me with a black girl [45]

well said! there are many people like this in Africa! Try to open an email in your junk box and see!

I just found out that he was talking to this black girl on line

I think you are being too possessive and you are restricting ur bf to too many things! Of course he will feel suffocated! Same as I! My relationship is boring now because of these things, and I would not mind if I get the chance to cheat on my girl. Come on just be open minded.

Which you aren't here!!! Your man just talked to someone online and you are making a big deal out of it! Out of anger he might have said something- I want to go to Africa.

I talk to girls I dont even know and they are 000's miles away from Poland, but still my girl has the guts to tell me that I am sleeping with her or something, so when i am pissed off, of course ill say yes, i am going to brazil to meet her or something like this!

So you got the point I hope! And yeah, FYI, I am not white nor black.

Food / Is Polish food still more natural than in the West? [142]

I think- polish food is blend and simply and doesnt really have a 'good look'.
no offence but its true though! although man needs to put a lot of effort in cooking it.

for me personally, i think Mediterranean cuisine is the best....Most of the times I prefer to stick oven food instead of eating polish food.

Law / Stay in Poland after Divorce- Yes or No? [5]

Hi all.

Been through hard times recently, and I would like to know if ever I divorce my wife, will I still be able to stay in Poland when my Karta Pobytu expires next year? I have been surfing through some websites recently and I could not find anything. I am neither in a situation to afford legal advise.

I do work here and I am able to afford a living. So I am not a lazy man just sitting idle and just drinking. Just to let you know why I want to divorce from my wife, its because I caught her cheating on me. And she had a affair with a man since more than 4 weeks. I do have proof for that. and she even admitted that to me when we had a fight last week.. Today she moved out with her bf..

i'd appreciate your help.

Thanks.

Law / Stay in Poland after Divorce- Yes or No? [5]

Griff, thanks mate! I appreciate what you wrote, but for me it concerning visa problem actually.

Sally- fortunately, I don't have a baby with that woman.. But I am just employed full time here, with a 'permanent' contract in an American company, so I cannot study as I do not have time to be honest.

However, is there anyway to be divorced and still stay here?

Because as it turns out, she has been cheating on me and I am not in a situation to stay with a woman who has been cheating on me and will still have sex with her bf. And I think I am forced to use divorce as an option.

News / The lottery of life: Where to be born in 2013. Poland ranks 33 out of 80. [23]

To be honest! this list is very very biased!! because of the omission of many countries! the globe doesn't consists only of 80 countries! Come on, I can find 10 countries better than Nigeria to have better life opportunities instead of getting into a gang and get yourself killed! No offence! But it's true!! a quote from one paragraph from the link on top: "Among the 80 countries covered, Nigeria comes last: it is the worst place for a baby to enter the world in 2013." so what happens to the rest of the other countries? A country like Seychelles and Mauritius dominates Africa. Yet nowhere to be heard despite having a positive growth year by year.

Look at the stats of Seychelles: a GDP of $11,170/ capita and of Nigeria: $1,490/capita, Mauritius: $8,654/capita...

Ease of doing business published by the World Bank (that directly implies that there would be investors seeking to invest in these countries as it's easier and could be in a way 'cheaper'- so what is this paragraph talking about in the original article:-

''Warren Buffett, probably the world's most successful investor, has said that anything good that happened to him could be traced back to the fact that he was born in the right country, the United States, at the right time (1930). A quarter of a century ago, when The World in 1988 light-heartedly ranked 50 countries according to where would be the best place to be born in 1988, America indeed came top.'' if there is investment in an economy then there is more chance to it moving to the right direction..

doingbusiness.org/~/media/GIAWB/Doing%20Business/Documents/Annual-Reports/English/DB13-full-report.pdf

Page 3!

Again, from the World Bank report: this chart shows how well these countries they are doing.

Yes, many might argue that I have no point here, but to be honest the article published by Economist Intelligence is either talking about those kids who will have no burden to pay the countries debt, as 'implied' in paragraph 8 or it's just b*llsh*tting around..

I am not an Economist or Accountant or whatsoever, but to be honest, 'Economist Intelligence' should have been much more clearer when they realise an article and outline everything as other bodies of Statistics.
