USA, Canada / Where can i find Spirytus Rektyfikowany in the USA? [77]

Yes it's strong, but is used in making many fantastic homemade vodkas and what not. My gf's parents make an awesome Wisniowka with picked cherries(sour) and Spirytus. Nothing even remotely close to the store bought. Anyone who ever tried it can probaly agree....unless sweet things aren't liked. You can also make a good honey vodka or sliwowica.

We have Spirytus Rektyfikowany in a few liquor stores. So, it is available in the US. It's a true remedy. I have amber that I brought back from the baltic. It comes in a small bottle that you add spirytus to.

Dragon....may have to come to NJ

USA, Canada / Pulaski Day (celebrated in the US only) [54]

Are you going to the parade Sledz?

In NY we celebrate Pulaski memorial day. This is held every year on October 11 by Presidential Proclamation, to commemorate his death at the Siege of Savannah on October 11, 1779

Food / What's your favorite Polish beer? [870]

avoid Budweiser, Fosters and Carling.

Agree. I also don't like Carlsberg too much either. I'll look into the Caffreys. Maybe they export to the US.
Thx Huegel

I'd reather not create a thread just for British beer, but I was weondering what's the best that comes out of the UK. I really enjoy Boddingtons on tap. Prob my favorite aside from Guinness.

Food / What is your favorite Polish Vodka? [653]

If you had it with apple juice you probably wouldn't know the difference.

That's a big no no. I don't like it with apple. maybe just a little Zuberek, but that's all. Maybe your taste buds are better :) I couldn't tell the difference. Even if they did neutralize the grass..I think that the flavors from the grass would still remain. Who really knows....Coke and RC tastes the same to me :)

What's the difference, FISZ, between this and the regular one, except the cool look?

It's made in smaller batches...kinda like a single barrel whisky, it's just better.

here's some info: polandforall.com/polish-wyborowa-vodka.html

I'm sure you have plenty of liquor stores with PL vodka. Look for Wyborowa. Chopin is also good, but pricy.

Food / What is your favorite Polish Vodka? [653]

I will let you know soon...not too sure when it'll be opened. Probably this weekend.

The US imported Żubrówka wasn't bad, but was expensive and really not the same (different brand of Bison Vodka too).

Was in a green bottle? I've heard the same about that one. I get the same as they have in PL from a store in NJ.

Excellent! Żubrówka is my favorite, but there aren't too many types of Polish vodkas to chose from in US stores.

There are many PL vodkas in the US...where I am anyway :)
Chopin, Belevedere, Wybrowka, Alchemy, Harnas, Jazz (comes in the shape of a trumpet), Sniper..lol looks like an AK :), sobieski..more

Where in the US are you?

I don't know how true that is for the zubrowka..it's just a wiki. I'm not sure if neutralizing the grass would even take the flavor out. I'll tell you what. I have a bottle that I just brought back from PL and I'll go to the liquor store and buy one here to see if there's a difference. Keep in mind that there are a couple different bottles of zubrowka.
