Love / Why do Polish girls think they are fat all the time? [42]

i know!!! polish women are so skinny! i have never seen any fat women here in warsaw! well to me "fat" woman is really someone fat!! i hear people saying "i am fat blah blah" i feel so soo sad because to me they are soo beautiful!=((

Go stand outside Mcdonalds and look at the younger ones. Fast food culture is making it's mark.

If you step back in time to the comunist era when food was in short supply and if you had dollars you could buy anything. If you didn't you struggled and could only look in the window of the American shop. The general population could not afford the likes of sweets and sweet things. They were a rare commodity and a treat. Now they are considered a necessity by some Polish Mothers who justify it because they never had.

The tide is turning and the European malaise is coming.

An Italian guy once told me "It's good to be seen with a skinny girl, but fat ones are more comfortable in bed." and "Skinny girls are like Ferrari's, High maintenance. Marry a fat one, you can afford the Ferrari and have all the skinny ones you like".

The second is problably true :)

Love / Concerns about Polish Family / Child Support Law [68]

She doesnt work and is responsible for bringing up our child, whenever i come home i find he is eating sweets or drinking drinks with extremely high sugar content.

A mother and her son. You cannot win this one by simply disagreeing. The fantasy father son bond does not exist in this situation. The hand that feeds the sweeties will win.

You really have a tough decision to make and before you make it I would review things like child maintenance decisions in your locality. Decisions appear to vary from town to town. You will of course be portrayed as an alcholic, wife and child abuser in court and she will also attempt to remove all parental responsabilty from you.

Better to try and educate her about food using an indirect approach. Do you remember the series in England that showed parents what their children would look like as they grew older with the food they were being fed. My ex wifes shopping srategies changed the following day. I am positive my children benefited enourmously from this, both educationaly and physically.

Personally I would try at all cost to keep this relationship together, especially if you don't fight all the time, as your child is too young to understand, and is easily manipulated. The child will believe what it is told.

There are some amazing decisions made my Polish Courts.

I met a Polish guy at an airport in the UK who had to take his daughter back to Poland every week to visit the mother. How could this child have a normal life with freinds etc. Unfair on the child and a punishment on the father for living in the UK.

A woman that worked for me earning £1200 after tax had to pay £900 for one child. As if loosing her child wasn't enough.

Another woman who worked for me had 1000zlt awarded to her and 3 months later this was reduced to 100zlt. Her ex husbands situation had not changed and he was a very high earner for a native.

I haven't heard of any good ones but then you are unlikely to on the internet.

Of course I will be attacked now and numerous misguided comments will follow. Its normal.

Real Estate / Banks in Poland selling fewer mortgages in 2011, down 49% [285]

That won't happen though, there's too much competition in Poland. For instance - you've now got Multibank/mBank, Credit Agricole, Deutsche Bank, PKO, Pekao, Santander, Millenium, ING and a hell of a lot more fighting it out - they simply can't afford to increase fees.

And you don't think they talk to each other ?

but it won't collapse

How many times have we heard that drivel in the UK. What goes up must come down.

Seriously ask yourselves why lending has fallen? Could it be because the banks know something you don't want to contemplate. Problably!

It's like listenning to English estate agents. The closed doors protecting Polands economy will open and the inevitable will happen.

Genealogy / Polish looks? [1462]

Life / Some Poles have fine houses [68]

I beg to differ - many of them are thrown up and built from cheap materials. The vast majority of post-1990 residential construction has been of appalling quality.

Something we can agree on.

If you are considering having something built, make sure you check the builders previous projects.

One place I looked at had cold water at both taps but the toilets flushed with hot water. And yes, people lived in the house like that.

What an English estate agent might call a "feature".

Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

Perhaps if you spent more time trying to find a job and less time checking out Polish women, you'd get somewhere?

You know I'm one of those fortunate ones where the ladies come flocking to me. I'm ugly but luckier than most.

I personally don't need to look on the internet for Polish girls. My home is busy busy with them. My partner is a hair stylist. Mostly they are boring as mud. Never done anything, don't go anywhere and when they go on holiday they don't do anything. If there was an international moaning competition I'm sure Polish men and women would come out on top, the men winning the male championships hands down. Seems to be a Polish trait looking on the black side.

delphiandomine, you feeling a little insecure or something. You need a monitor to hide behind. Man up dude. Try and be nice. I know it's hard when you are a Pole. :)

She was Polish by birth (was born in Warsaw in Polish family)! She just obtained French citizenship and studied there. Her maiden surname was Skłodowska.

I think it depends on what documents you read. When I had this discussion with my partner we found information her parents were in fact French nationals living in Poland. I'll try find this again.

If I am wrong I hang my head in shame.

Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

If that means that Polish women start looking closer to size 12, instead of size 0, then I'm all for it! You can have the undernourished, and I'll take the "real women", because I can handle 'em, and you can't, hehe :p

I think you might find the teeny boppers have exceeded your lustful expectations already. You know Macky Dee's hit town a while back.

You know last time I went to Poznan, I exceeded my sun quota by several hours and your right, my skinny little white legs were red. What really brassed me off was naked, I looked like a Polish flag.

Do people really come on here to pull? Do they really come on here for advice on pulling? Or do they they come for the occasional well imformed 'humorous' post on Polish peoples or some useful information. Not much of either exists here. Harry's post provide great entertainment value.

Why the hell do you take yourselves so seriously? Why is British humour so popular in Poland? Because we can laugh at ourselves. We know we are all insignificant in the Great Scheme of Things.

Why are people Polish when it suits like Polanski? Because good old Lech said he should be forgiven for his one (?) mistake. Was Marie Curie French or Polish? French of course by birth. Why is she considered Polish? I can't answer that. In English schools we were educated that she was French. It was a big suprise to me when my partner revealed she was Polish.

The main difference between Polish girls and others is they "KNOW" how to use makeup. They make themselves look better and make the most of their better features. English girls are really "BAD" at make up.

Having travelled most of Europe and beyond by motorcycle, I for one know Polish girls are not the most beautiful in the world. Girls are the same most every place you go. Some good, some bad and some hideous. Mostly it depends on what your looking for. If you like a over made up "Trophy" or something more "Natural", thats your bag. You also find better looking girls in better off areas. Very noticeable in the UK.

News / Multi-culti (in Poland) -- roadmap to disaster? [344]

Given that you did everything yourself in Poland, are you surprised that you had problems?

Ok here is an example for you so you understand what I'm getting at.

Firstly I spent over £5000 on legal advice in Poland in a two week period. Every penny was wasted because the lawyers we spoke too had no concept of Law outside of Poland and how international law overides Polish law. At that time I also had no concept of this.

Brussels II Bis (A convention signed by Poland) clearly states that if you are habitually resident in a country then you can start a divorce in that country. If you ask a Polish lawyer they will tell you it's impossible. In Poznan anyway.

Without checking back, I doubt I said everything in Poland as that would of been untrue. My work in Poland was to help our lawyer understand English Law and how International Law should be applied and is applied in other countries. Law is really not complicated but the language used often is. As you are more than likely aware, most of Polish law is based on the 1965 Family and Gaurdianship code. Much of which was forward thinking and much of which is outdated and aimed at keeping families together what ever the cost. The section on corporal punishment for children is quite shocking to western readers although this was updated in 2010 with an anti smacking law.

To put things into context for you, here is what happenned.

The childrens father brought them to England and on the same day beat his wife. (Regular Occurance in Poland)
She decided there and then the marraige was finished.
He agreed to leave the children in England.
Almost daily telephone conversations between father and children.
3 months later he visits children for 1 week.
Telephone conversations continue
Dec 2010 Children taken to Poland to visit Father
January 6th 2011 children were not returned and father dissapears for 3 days.
3 days later he contacts Police who do nothing as he has parental authority equal to the mothers.
Children are extremely distressed with the older child not speaking and banging his head against furniture and walls
Father thinks this is a romantic situation (deluded)
3 days later the older child is left with mother on condition she doesn't take him to a doctor
On advice from lawyer he is driven to Berlin and I bring them back to England.
Child is very distressed
Next day visit a Polish psychiatrist.
Don't believe what we hear. Both children are drugged for 3 days and on the first day one child had to be shaken to resusitate after father had held his hand over his mouth and the child had gone unconscious.

Psychiatrist confirms he believes its true as everything would be out of the childs experience and the conversation was totally natural.
Fly back to Poland with report in Polish and go to court 2 days later to try and get younger child back to safety.

Polish Court rejected all documents. This process took one and a half minutes. The judge was severely reprimanded by a higher court 3 months later

The Polish process to get out of this mess would take up to 2 years.

A little different to how we treat children in England

News / Multi-culti (in Poland) -- roadmap to disaster? [344]

Gotta love the way that he's complaining about foreigners despite being married to one himself.

Please read posts carefully and then you won't make silly mistakes. I'm not married.

I don't read the Daily Mail, I'm an Al Jazeera viewer. I prefer my news without a goverment slant on it. Britain for the British. I'm sorry again you are being a little slovenly. I am talking about being English not British. A subtle difference again.

Am I complaining about foreigners or is that a poor interpretation of what I have said? Tanslation never works well.

I freely admit I have issues with Poland, but these issues pertain to Polish justice and not polish people although arrogance and being rude are not the most endearing of Polish male traits. If you live with one, you learn to accept the rest.

Law / Is running a business in Poland very profitable? [33]

You're comparing apples and oranges - Sports World is a downmarket shop for chavs, whereas InterSport is a high-end sports clothing shop. Different countries will pitch products at different markets - for example, Zara is a downmarket brand in Spain, but a mid-class brand in Poland and the UK.

How can you say that is comparing apples with oranges. It's like for like.

Personally I would quite like to set up shop in Poland. I quite like the place really but I was advised it might not be safe to do so. As you say the Polish perception of some products is different to ours in the UK. If you were very selective on your products, I think there is huge potential in Poland. I spent pretty much the last six moths going back and forth to Poznan and having spent the 20 years buying and selling I don't miss much. The competition talked about exists mostly at the lower end of the market. The upper end looks to me likes it's controlled by a Cartel. I was researching shoes a month or so ago and one brand which was available in Warsaw only, was 600% higher in Warsaw than in it's native country. The brand escapes me now.

I would think with the growth in internet facilities (more people with computers so we don't light a fire) in Poland and peoples level of trust in Internet Commerce growing that these higher prices are not going to last forever. Things change.

He lives in a gritty ex-mining town council estate and is unemployed (and divorced from a Polish woman, from the looks of things) - no wonder he thinks so ;)

I'm happily divorced from an English women and happily living with a very attractive Polish women. We have two happy little ones. I have never been happier in my life. Oh how wrong you are!

Few English people? The last demographic data suggested that England was around 89% White English.

Have you been to Leicester, Bradford or London. I read 2 years ago that in 2012 Leciesters poulation would be in the greater majority, Asian. Notice I made no previous reference to blacks other than to the 'Racist' station master. Please point me in the direction of your data. It's interesting as I am here and what I see is a little different. Remember statistics can be made to suit your purpose and your reference to White English is in my opinion unlikely to be correct as is more likely to be white. A subtle but massive difference.

Law / Is running a business in Poland very profitable? [33]

Actually, Ant68 says he's unemployed. He is probably too lazy to walk out of his place to see any competition. Instead, he is ready to to sit at the computer typing rubbish about a £5 T Shirt in the UK that will cost you £40 in Poland.

Go to Sports World and check the prices. Then go to the big sports shop in Kings Cross in Poznan.

See for yourself.

Lazy. I think not. Sold a successful business in January. Spent most of the proceeds recovering two abused children from Poland. Did all the legal work UK side myself. Did most of the Polish legal work myself. In between times developed what is now a successful e-commerce site with 3000+ products. Currently developing a second site. I work like a Pole except I don't stop when I'm sick. I'm pretty busy really. Today I have a Jquery problem and I need to relieve some stress.

And if the price difference is so massive, why haven't you already bought up lots of stock in the UK to sell on the Polish market?

Whose to say I haven't?

Check out what a childs bicycle costs in Poland and then the UK. The whole economy is fixed in Poland. Manufacturing is protected by low wages. The chinese are coming.

Why is there such a massive business in shipping secondhand clothes to Poland?

I did buy a few shoes in Poland. Difficult finding nice shoes in the UK.

News / Multi-culti (in Poland) -- roadmap to disaster? [344]

I guess when your country loses it's identity like the UK, it becomes important to some of us. Maybe being born during the last years of the empire makes a difference. I can't say I miss Charles and Annes summer holiday on Blue Peter though. Spoilt buggers. It was a different England then. The village station master was a true racist. If a black person got off the train, he kept them there until the next train arrived.

My school friends who moved to London some 30 odd yesrs ago are now coming back saying it's lonely because there are so few English people. That's sad.

There's no official language in England.

Yes and I'm not allowed to be white English anymore. There is no box on the forms :(

Why should they? I live in Poland and have no intention at all of learning to speak Polish.

Slightly out of context but badly worded by myself. But why disable your children by suggesting they should always speak Polish in or around the home? Let them be natural and make the choice themselves.

I have made the effort to try and learn Polish BUT for me it is not going to happen. I understand whats being talked about (usually) but wrapping my tongue around them R's and things is not possible. To long in the tooth.

When looking at a house with my Polish partner, her Polish friend said "You don't want to move there. Polish people live next door!"

I really laughed but soon understood is was no joke by her expression.

The area in which I live is referred to as the "Polish Ghetto" by some Poles. Personally I find them unobtrusive apart from the parking arrangements and their lack of understanding as to why Polish children living in England should speak English. 6 VW Passats don't fit in the drive of a 3 bed family home.

Law / Is running a business in Poland very profitable? [33]

Retail appears to be very profitable in Poland.

For example a £5 T Shirt in the UK will cost you £40 in Poland. The identical product.

Why is this? The only conclusion I can draw from this and what I have seen in Poznan, is that big retail is controlled by a very few, very rich people. No competition.

I have considered openning a shop myself, but I have a feeling the consequences would be dire for an English man.

There are other ways!

Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

I don't hate Poland but there are things I don't like.

1) Child abuse is rewarded by the courts in a pathetic attempt at keeping families together when there is no hope. Religious and Communist afflictions should not cloud a judges vision of what is wrong or right.

2) A complete ignorance of international law which directly affects Polish Law due to a lack of education of Judges and Lawyers. Why do Polish women think they can't get divorced in England? Even more alarming is why Polish lawyers think this is not possible. Would a 30 year old family court judge be allowed to preside over a case of international significance (In Law) with no prior knowledge of International Law and no experience in England? No. We would use our High Court with people well versed and highly experienced in Law. It really does make Poland's legal system look pretty amateur.

3) A complete lack of testicles when it comes to standing up and changing things for the better. An example is when Poland signed the Hague treaty for abducted children, it openned up it's child legislation for change. What happenned? Nothing!!!! It is definately a keep your head down or you will get shot society! Wake up it's 2011, The Russians are gone.

I could go on but these are top of my list.

Who cares about UK?None of the individuals involved is a British citizen. All I am saying, is if she decide to go to PL with a baby and plays it right nobody will touch her.I would do that instead on relaying on British court.

Wrong. It does not matter what country you live in or what nationality you are. The law in this case would be based on 'habitual residence'. Removal from habitual residence by one parent is only allowed when both parents enter into a formal agreement. Verbal would be insufficient as it opens the door to he said she daid. There are exceptions. For example if you left your partner and children in one country to return home it could be considered as "Aquiessance" and visiting the child in the country where you left them can be considered the same. To Aquiesse you would also have not tried, in any way, to get your partner to return with the child to the country of habitual residence. This does not prevent you from visiting the child, it just means you need to take precautions before doing so.

In this case the events would go like this

Hague application through Official Solicitor in the UK
OffSol makes formal application to Central Authority in Warsaw
Local Court recieves application and sets date - 2-3 months
First hearing - Every attempt to transfer to Polish process will be made
Second hearing - The abducter or retainer usually backs down as they know they can't win. For those that don't, often their legal rep will leave them to it

Third Hearing - Most likely the return order with 21 days to appeal (Mostly there is no grounds for appeal)

21 Days later the judgement is final and the child must be returned. If not this escalates into Police and Kurator visits and if this fails it is possible to apply for an EAW as in the Dutch case.

It is hard to argue this is a criminal act under Polish Law although it is possible, but, more importantly abduction and retention are criminal acts under International Law.

In certain circumstances Polish Law seems deficient in protecting childrens rights as well as parents overseas.

I also wonder if Kurt obtained residency in the UK thru marriage to this poor girl? And if I was her I would go to Poland and immidiately start custody case.

Fails. A hague application kills it stone dead.

Love / I need advice: divorce and my rights as a father in Poland [165]

But of course - Poland's legal system being the way it is, it would seem very unlikely that Poland would honour an EAW for a Polish citizen accused of taking a Polish citizen to Poland. Other countries wouldn't care, though.

EAW's have been used in a Hague case in Poland. This was a case where a Polish woman returned to Poland from Holland and was ordered to return under Hague proceedings. She attempted to hide the children and was later subject to an EAW and returned to Holland.

Really all you have to do is ring reunite in the UK and they will give you the advice you require. Do it now!!

In the Polish courts, anything can happen

Not only can it happen; It will!!

The Hague Convention is simply a tool to bring two parties together in the same country where the child was habitually resident in order that custody can be resolved under the laws of that land. Combined with Brussells II it is very powerful. Poland has failed to implement the Hague in the past correctly but it is slowly improving as the old guard of judges retire. They have also been fined on several occassions I believe. Hague cases are dealt with at the High Court in the UK. In Poland they are dealt with at a local level and the judges recieve no or little training. Also the courts in Poland are open to outside influence. For example 2500 Euro can comfortably keep you out of prison.

Article 13b under the Hague provides that a minor cannot be returned to a place of danger but the operative words are "grave risk" which effectively means that the danger must be imminent or extreemely serious and must be proven as such. Statements such as my wife hits the children are not enough. It has to be proven. Countries such as the UK have resources available to competently manage the return of a child in this situation, so article 13b cannot be used against the UK. If article 13b is used for a non return in the UK, it classed as a judicial error and juristiction transfers to the UK under Brussells II and the case is heard in England and Poland would be duty bound to effect a return.

Ok it doesn't like returning to the US but UK has very little trouble with returns.

Unfortunately I am experiencing the Hague and Poland at the moment. It's not so bad but earlier posts on the court system are quite realistic. My partner (the mother) was treated like scum of the earth initially but now they understand the TRUTH they are much more receptive. I would not want to get divorced there if I wasn't Polish.

Still, it all boils down to:

a) Don't go to Poland,

b) Make sure You do what You can to prevent her from flying the child off to Poland,

c) Lawyer up and fight it in a British court.

First send her a letter recorded delivery stating you do not want her to remove your child from the UK.

When she does use "The Hague Convention for Abducted children" to secure her return.

For now get in touch with Reunite.org and take some serious free advice.
