Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

The frowns

The smoky bars

The exceptionally anal retentive... (not in this order!) ;)

(They are also the things I like about the place!) :S

Australia / Secret gems (Good places to have a beer) in Melbourne Australia [20]

Oh I don't know, I figure *someone* must know, or have a good idea about the best places to hang out and drink beer in Melbourne...? :)

I could do with a good start... there are so many places that look intriguing... but, well, I only have so many brain cells and I only have so much time and money!

A list of the best 10-20 if you please... someone! *ahem* Sobieski, *ahem*... *help* ;)

It's alright people, I'll let *you* know tomorrow... ;)

Love / 12 years of marriage my Polish wife still doubts me [74]

explain

Well the idea that you can repeat doing something the same way and get different results. Try a new method. :)

we do.
Not like so miserable all time.

Ok, so you make love and you laugh... what's the problem again???

as? say

A balloon flight... a speedy jet boat ride down a canyon??
Lose your breath? Exhilarate your senses??

i know her simple pretty warm polish friend > girlfrnd > wife. WILD SIDE? :s
Plz be clear say all, i can read have time in break

Listen buddy.. why don't you just keep buying her flowers, f*cking her and making her laugh...? That way she'll keep whinging at you??? :S

12 years of marriage she still doubts me

Maybe her doubting is good...? It's her way of thinking that she still has to earn your love, and also her way of making believe that you are a good conquest???

Travel / Is Poland worth visiting? [35]

Nice.

You can find the song looking for "Born In Poland"

You might find it goes feral...

And then we'll be hearing it on the TV. :)

Cute kids btw. :)

However I *do* think that this clip would do more for your national economy...

Sometimes you can squeeze the life out of an idea until its suffocated...

You know the best remedy for you both...?
Laughter.

Is it possible that you can, as a couple, go out and do something a little out of the ordinary? Where you both leave your comfort zone and say at the end of it... ''that was really awesome!''

Family life can bring you both a little under the weather and it's no-one's fault that you end up turning on each other. She may just need not to be so intensely focused on the relationship?

Cause it seems you have all the symptoms of a lot of boredom and frustration? And that can make you each feel unattractive, helpless, like a failure, whatever! Try to change the picture a bit instead of changing the people in the picture. Try to explore your (and her) wilder sides a little?

Remember - every woman, not only Polish, is like a flower in constant need of watering and care !!!

And some are like weeds that grow just fine without. :)

Expectation can lead to suffering... take care of yourself first. ;)

So you found the best place? Congrats! Which is it?

Thanks! Not the best place but not the least. (It's above ground...) ;) But the agent's still a tyrant!

Are you following it? ... we don't play cricket in Poland.

Nah... I was forced to by default all during my youth and I enjoy the odd game, but everything in moderation. ;)

Haven't been to Australia,

Well of course you'd be more than welcome!

why an insult?

I know little about the AFL culture down here, but if I was to say..

''Good old Collingwood forever,
we know how to play the game.
Side by side we stick together,
to uphold The Magpies name.
Hear the barrackers a shouting,
as all barrackers should,
Oh, the premiership's a cakewalk
For the good old Collingwood.
..'' Would that appease you...? ;)

finally after 6 months, the best game on earth returns.

Naked Beach Volleyball??

and the shorts are no longer short.

And the hair's no longer ridiculous!

the docklands. i thought you wanted the extra sleep and hence would move closer to broady.

I'm planted here for the time being... :)

and it isnt etihad, it is jihad stadium.

Hmm... the flying missiles of impassioned supporters no doubt?

So how many citizens does Melbourne have exactly?

Exactly?? Close to a bucket full??? But they do their best to appear to you one at a time... ;)

(Close to 4 million).

How many are Collingwood supporters I wonder?

Australia / Places to live in Melbourne... [36]

I like Melbourne. :)

Yeah, I've noticed the lycra parade on Saturdays... They look a little intimidating...
I just muck around on bikes to get from A to B, but maybe if I wanted to take myself *really* seriously...

I'm right near the Etihad stadium so I've *practically* seen a game already... is that meant to be an insult...? ;) (This is the part where my cultural ignorance of Melbourne is to my detriment...)

Be nice! I mean we've got guys in short shorts in Sydney but they're usually heading out to Oxford Street! ;)

Anyways, I'm pretty much sorted... but any further insights or tid-bits of information will be warmly received.

Many thanks. :)

Feedback / How many hours a day do you dedicate for PF and how often? [21]

I hardly post these days, have no time really and I usually keep it short and sweet:). If I were to read and answer to everybody I would have to quit my job, which is not an option.

In other words, never... like now... ;)

Too often in the past, too little at present. But life (and PF) goes on... regardless...

(If I could have my life again I would be here from day one... as a nonsense speaking semi-Pole. ;))

ugggh, commercial areas, ugghhh.

Hey, Ugg *is* an Australian brand... ;)

if you're looking for decent factory outlets then head north to smith street. bridge rd used to be the ****, bit now its just chains saying they're factory outlets but charging the same as myer/david jones.

Hey, I'm not looking for factory outlets, I'm more looking for facts on inlets...? Scenic bike paths, places to take ferry rides, good kebabs, cheap oil heaters, street festivals, rousing AFL teams to support...???

then again, whatever floats your boat.

Oh I'm sure Melbourne's got enough where that's concerned. ;)

you go girlfriend.

Le life fantastique! :)

you will maybe have time to learn that you gotta carry an umbrella with ya at all times.

Advice heeded... I just wish I received it this morning... :S

melbourne in general?

take a trip out to scumshine in the west, dandewog in the south east, frankston in the south east. in the words of eddie murphy's landlord in coming to america. you'll like it, its real ****** up.

I want Bikies at my doorstep and Underbelly in me backyard... ;)
Hey, where I'll be living, I reckon I'll get it! (The things we sacrifice for an extra hour in bed...) :S

Edit: And nobody told me about the wall of cars I'd meet on Citylink.. :S

I mean is that meant to be your idea of street art or did I just discover the weakness of your tram system???

Yes! I want answers!!! ;)

What, one foot in front of the other? ;P

I am attending a lecture on women's problems in the City Hall today.

Overpriced Tampons...

I joined the Union today... does that count? :S

Enough sarcasm... I'm going to bed. :)

Anyway - Ash, how ya keepin'?

Very well thanks Mr w6 and 8. How's the subject of life treating you?

I'm on the eve of something extraordinary and deliriously dull... I've moved towns and acquired new neighbours!

I could have really done with some help from you blokes too you know. :S

It would work if that button group was over on the right side - and would probably still play well with iPad users, etc, too. Come on, chaps, this should have been a quick and easy win.

Hey, Sob. I appreciate your inside help.

I get there next week and have another 3 weeks to check things out. Should be able to locate a great place in that time...

Goodbye Sydney :( again...

is that a sydney-ism?

No I think the centre is something I picked up in England... just like ''going into town'' is..

Now I need to ask the most important of all questions... Which football team to cheer on this season?? Essendon?

Up the SWANS!! :))

Have decided on one of the areas on the train line going to Broady... so I can make a quick get away if things get rough... ;)

Any suggestions? Flemington??

To be honest I'll probably just decide when I get there. Decisions come at an instant when you have all the information necessary...

Any idea how long that trip would take? From the centre to Broady?

Cheers.

if ya want ole skool then there is a city circle tram that is free.

Yeah hey why not? For the most expensive tram ride in the city...

broady, thats hilarious.

well, there is your multicultural experience.

you'd need a car to get there.

Nooo! There must be public transport...? Trains?? *Gulp!* Hitch hike?? (Hitch a hitchings???) ;)

hahaha, there are even newer ones.

No kidding! And I was heading to Melbourne for its quaint history of old curiosities... ;)

my middle name is lazy.

Don't worry I'll pick up the slack... ;)

Speaking of picking up the slack and curiosities... remember this golden jewel of Australian prime time television?

im guessing you're either studying at rmit/la trobe?

No, alas, work based training in glorious Broadmeadows... :S

fitzroy is far from multicultural or leafy and green but is diverse and arty and well serviced by pt.

Ok, well I guess as long as it's not *too* hectic. I do like the sound of central though... :)

you obviously been on gumtree to check prices and the like?

I start looking in earnest tomorrow. I will arrange some inspections for the weekend I arrive (I'm not *too* fussy really) But you know what they say... location, location, location! ;)

they look like this now (sorry, cant be arsed copying to my hard drive and then uploading pic):

I was afraid that might happen... *sigh*, modernity... And for what? And extra 2 miles an hour?? :S (As long as they still rattle!)

P.S. Lazy arse... ;p

Australia / Places to live in Melbourne... [36]

Ok guys, well I'm only around for 10 months or so so want to experience the ''real'' Melbourne..

I'm aiming for Fitzroy at the moment and I'll be commuting everyday out of town. I guess I want a good vibe (not too suburban) but leafy and green and multi-cultural, with more of a day buzz than a night time party atmosphere... I'll be studying.

Good transportation links are imperative and not too near busy roads... somewhere you can cycle and with a good street scene... (am I really fussy??)

What I'm saying is I want a good experience, but I've lived in dumps before - but obviously as long as it's safe, it can be somewhat lively??

I want diverse and arty, NOT yuppy. I'm not married with children... ;)

And I want to get on these funny things...

edit: oh, and I'll likely be renting with others.

Thanks. :)

USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

Can you feck off little Miss perfect...

What great contributions to civilization are you making pray tell...? And to Poland for that matter?

In such a scenario, to comment on individuals look more appropriate, but to try and figure an entire nation with such sample subjects might never really show the real picture.

And it seems this idiot Asik has very firm ideas about what everyone should be... which is ironic considering she is a Pole (who still considers herself a Pole) living Downunder.

I think she's a waste of space and should be ignored (though I am having trouble taking my own advice there it seems...)

Aphro, what you contribute to this forum is actually life experience, and a refreshing breaking of the mould of what Poles should or shouldn't be...

Cause it's not actually *Polishness* that drives the Polish mentality... but often, not knowing any different... ignorance. ;)

Goodness knows, attitudes don't change unless the next generation rocks the boat a little. Poles have to accept that they don't always have the *best* ways of approaching things... and actually a combination of methods usually works best.

I think it's generous of you to share these insights...
Don't let the negativity of your compatriots bring you down... then they have won. :)
