Language / here / there - difference rules in Polish [7]

Might I suggest, "Here it is" usually used in English to show that one has found something; for example a picture in an album, a search result on the web or just to show that you have found the answer to a question!

UK, Ireland / why do you shout and throw (question for english people) [30]

mietek emigrant

Cześc,
I hope that what you describe is not normal! I am English and have many Polish friends and you should not be subjected to this kind of behaviour! If these idiots are indeed English; then I apologise for them. I am from another generation who stands up for ladies on buses and holds the door open for the next person. I also am an ex-serviceman who has had some tough situations to handle in my life so I am not a "softy" quite the opposite. However rise above these morons and look at the bigger picture. Good wishes for the future.

Pozdrawiam,
Paul

I guess you did not read my reply? Moze tak i moze nie? I am a normal English guy who has lots of Polish friends and have visited my friends in Poland many times and also welcomed them into my home as near family. You have to grow up my friend, the world does not owe you or me a living! We have to share cultures, food, stories, songs and often sadness and sometimes joy! I was with a Polish girl for almost four years and I learned a lot about Polish culture even read Cappernicus. I loved every minute and consider Poland my second home.

Hope this stops the thoughts that Britons don't like Polish people. Remember in the second world war there were over 20 Polish squadrons flying Spitfires and Hurricanes against the Nazis in Germany and many pilots both Polish and British died on the same soil to give us all the right to be free!

Pozdrawiam, Paul

I sent regards to an old friend after seeing that today, 24/08 was her name day at the bottom of the page on this Forum! Oops! I checked on Google and maybe it should have been 24/05. Can anyone help on this. Her name is Joanna (Asia)! I think I dropped a Boo-Boo.

Life / POLISH FLAG DAYS...when are they...? [30]

Slightly off topic! The Union flag of Great Britain is only called the "Union Jack" when raised on the "Jack" mast of a ship. It is used also as the white ensign when combined with the cross of Saint George (Patron Saint of England) on naval warships and flown as a battle ensign so as not to hide the nationality or intent of that vessel. There is a second ensign which is similar but has a red background and known as the "red ensign" which shows that this naval vessel is a civilian ship carrying passengers or supplies and is not equipped for warfare. The Union Flag represents the union of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. I love my country, my Grandparents died for her to give me freedom. I also love Poland as we stood together to defeat Fascism. Long may the Union flag fly over Great Britain and I as an Englishman would be proud to fly the White and Red Eagle of Poland on my land at any time as a mark of respect to our cultures along with the Dutch, Belgian, French, Norwegian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Danish, and other European countries to which we owe our cosmopolitan culture over the decades.

If you are proud of your heritage display it but be sensitive to others at the same time. tolerance is a virtue that is evaporating! Dobranoc i Pozdrawiam! Paul
