Real Estate / MNE DEVELOPMENT COMPANY , LOFTS, U SCHEIBLERA, LODZ [36]

, if the company is being closed down in Poland it will take 6 months,

You jest, right?

Companies in Poland can go out of business ( stan upadłosci ) for ages. The court appointed syndyk makes more money the longer the whole thing takes, so he's in no hurry.

if anything, did you at least know that another of their subsidaries TUP S.A. already declared bankruptcy over one month ago?

TUP S.A. is not a subsidiary of Opal or MNE:

tup.com.pl/strona.php?grupa=tupsa_akcjonariat

And they ( TUP S.A. ) haven't filed for bankruptcy, not to mention having one declared.

What they did is they basically stated the co-project they had with Opal in Poland ( Modena in Poznań ) is down the tubes.

So I don't really know where you get your intel, if it can be called such.

Guys from Opal use a fairly simple structure of companies ( MNE Investments with its whopping 220.000 polish złoty of stock capital, fully owned by another, foreign-registered as far I know, limited liability company, could be considered "shell" in many countries ) which pretty much guarantees their non-bankrupt companies won't be forced to sink any more money into the projects.

So don't count on getting anything out of them, look for a decent lawyer in Lodz, Poland that can help you with the whole ownership thing. I'd recommend mister Kona or mister Porczynski if you don't mind pricey or mister Orlicki if you're looking for a fairly young hotshot with a good grasp of Polish real estate laws who most likely won't charge you an arm and a leg.

I think that if you get a good lawyer worst thing that will happen will be that the court-appointed administrator ( syndyk ) will sell the unsold units for 50% of the price you paid.

Anyways, good luck with your problem.

USA, Canada / Why do Americans (and Canadians) hate Polish people? [226]

Are you by any chance suggesting that Polish people, on the average, aren't exactly too bright?

Odd, because I personally met Poles who were highly intellectual, often accomplished in academia, and my bet is they'd make you look like a mental midget or a mildly retarded person if they so chose to over the course of a 5 minute conversation.

The other issue - admitting that they have flaws - is indeed a problem for most Polish people.

Life / Why is Prostitution still legal in Poland? [106]

Some of these women regard themselves as "Sex Professionals" .

Are you perhaps labouring under the impression that all prozzers in Poland pay taxes on the full amount earned?

In Poland it is normal ( and not that unsual in the UK either ) that a given business is registered as a go-go club, strip club or a massage parlour and the taxes are paid only on what is officially kept in the books - more often than not minimum wage payed out to girls.

All the rest is the pot that is divided between girls and the pimps in some form.

Why is it morally accepted in a Catholic country? Why is it morally accepted in a Jewish country? Why is it morally accepted in a Muslim country? Why is it morally accepted in a protestant country? Because as long as you have some clients, you have an industry.

What a lot of Poles fail to understand is that many Catholics, especially from the US, are really pious and moral people that will actively implement the tenaments of their religion into their life, political choices and etc.

In Poland, as I mentioned, most people are "token" Catholics - they go to church on a Sunday and to confession once every blue moon, involve a priest in such rites as a wedding, baptism, etc. But the involvement of religion in their life doesn't go any deeper and the idea that some other Catholic might find Poland's prostitution laws ( legal ) and huge underground abortion circuit ( illegal, half the gynos do it ) preposterous doesn't even enter their heads.

Polish catholics who do find the above to be in conflict with their faith are branded as "Mohery" and nobody listens to them

In Poland they actually do go after the small time pot smokers and it doesn't change things even a bit, the dealers are still around.

Swedish prostitution laws ( now adopted by Norway and Iceland, or so I heard ) are a curiosity and might have a bit of a problem if properly challenged in court ( perhaps not in feminist-dominated Sweden ).

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

No problem, be sure to double check the actual text of what the Polish Parliament passes ( sejm.gov.pl ) because they do have a penchant for changing bill drafts like crazy in Poland. It might be an elephant when it is submitted, but when the Polish "Sejm" and "Senat" are over and done with their modifications it might already be a mouse.

So what does the new law say, in basic terms? I am not sure.

In basic terms there are a number of options introduced for anyone wanting to carry out a development project in Poland, selecting one of which is obligatory. Most developers will highly likely choose the depository account option, in which an account for payments from investors is established and remains untouched in case of bankruptcy. There's also a push for greater transparency in terms of where the money comes from and who the developers are.

I'd have to look into the particulars because I'm not looking to finance anything new in Poland at the moment so I kind of stayed a bit behind on this one, as far as I know there was a big row ( usual ) in the Polish Parliament when one of the top boys from Platforma Obywatelska supposedly tried to introduce last minute changes to the draft.

What security is there for deposits currently?

In case of a bank-financed ( 99% ) projects none whatsoever, because the moment a given developer applies for bankruptcy all the creditors are divided into groups and creditors with a mortgage in place receive their $ before anyone without a mortgage gets to wet their beak.

So the bank usually gets their money back, assuming there is anything to finish/sale, and whatever is left is divided between the people who made deposits.

The very reason why the new law is coming into effect.

Love / Do Irish / British guys like Polish girls? [138]

Sure thing, I'm just pointing out that Akimo dropped the bomb on this thread and since then it isn't exactly about Irish blaming Poles for anything.

so it would seem very odd for any Irishmen to think lowly of any Pole

While Poles on the other hand are allowed to throw such bullshit accusations at the Irish as Akimo did over here?

Actually your comment Akimo about Irishmen comparing to his is very polite. Luckly Midas in not Irishman.

Yup, Jewish here.

On topic - Akimo the stuff you posted is very bitter, one sided, contradictory at times and not really backed up by stats.

Don't expect us to just lap it up.

Akimo

Unfortunate these opinions just happened to be similar in case of Irish men.

These opinions are not only of Polish women, but of women from other nationalities too.

I'm sorry, some of the stuff you wrote can honestly make one wonder whether Ireland happens to be the last fortified position of the Neanderthal human male in Europe.

I personally continue to see that a lot of women from various countries do consider Irish gents charming, resourceful, intelligent, witty and great husband material so I do find your revelations about foreign women sitting down together and complaining how bad Irish males are a tad ridiculous.

Aren't you by any chance projecting a personal negative experience?

Most of Polish women who I know (I know 15 here in Ireland) are with Polish men, only 1 I know is with an Irish man (I must admit he is a lovely person). The same figure appreas among women of other nationalities who I know here.

Sean has been kind enough to point towards the statistics.

In terms of marrying a foreigner, Polish women are statistically very likely to marry an Irishman, which directly contradicts what you wrote. These statistics indicate that a hell lot of Polish women simply LOVE Irish men.

I've got plenty of Irish friends who live in Ireland ( good people, all of them ) and they had often told me that once the "Polish invasion" started Polish women freshly arrived in Ireland were practically fighting one another for a chance of getting with an Irish guy and regarded being with a guy from Poland as some sort of a disgrace.

And now here you come and tell us that Irish men are scum? Whom are you kidding?

To be fair, I think RevokeNice has a bit of a point. Also I can't help but to notice that your odd opinion is expressed at a time when economic prospects for Ireland aren't exactly looking as stellar as they did before.

Could it be that the moment Irish blokes ( due to no fault of their own, bad economy and all ) stopped bringing in as much dinero as they did in 2004 or 2005 you suddenly began to consider them unworthy, undereducated apes? Is Marian from Poland looking a bit more sexy now with his moustache and no mortgage in Dublin that's under the water? Paddy O'Connor's no longer a witty daredevil because he's been laid off?

I do hope I'm not crossing the line here, but to be fair I haven't read such rubbish about Irish men in a long time.

If anyone had to listen to their country/themselves being insulted as much British people do...they wouldnt like it.

I simply love people from all over the world taking a dump on Ireland/UK and then complaining that the locals "are touchy".

Assuming Poland discovers tomorrow it is sitting on one huge shale gas reserve and turns into the next Norway overnight I seriously doubt Poles with their newfound wealth would show one third of the tolerance granted to foreigners in Ireland or the UK once it became apparent that there'd be loads of qualified foreign people coming over to compete on the job market.

Talk about painting with a broad brush.

I mean some of the stuff you wrote is just off the wall.

It is really surprising considering how many Polish women in Ireland go for Irish blokes over Poles, with all these negative traits you listed one would rather think that Polish women would sooner commit suicide before going out with an Irish gent.

UK, Ireland / Lots of Polish in England buy houses and integrate into the UK system well [9]

Look, the real problems with Polish people in the UK boil down to the following:

- Polish people using ( some people will even use the word "scamming" ) the system of social benefits and we all know the Polish have contributed zero, nil, zip, towards its creation,

- Polish people undercutting the locals in the competition for menial, low paying jobs,

- Polish people being involved in odd immigration scams.

Same applies to other Eastern Europeans.

Nobody is saying they are not allowed to come over ( Schengen treaty and all ) but these facts have to be acknowledged.

Other than that, I always keep saying - there'd be full scale riots in Poland ( approved by the PiS, no less ) if 1 million British people showed up in Poland and started to compete with the locals on the job market.

Love / Indian wife wants divorce from her Polish husband just after two months. [52]

I've known successful Indian girl / European guy couples.

Sometimes it works out. Sometimes it doesn't.

However, it needs to be underlined that LEGAL immigration has put a significant strain on UK's infrastructure. Sure, I'm the last guy who's going to scream "bloody Polish go back home!" but one cannot miss a very simple fact - hundreds of thousands of people who haven't contributed too much towards building, shall we say, UK's social benefits system are legally in the UK, profiting from bennies.

This is a fact.

Now add to that a few hundred thousand people who are TRYING TO BE LEGAL in this country by using every trick in the book and honestly, how do you expect the system not to collapse?

So let's keep this one real, immigration scams are all around us and this does sound like one.

UK, Ireland / Is moving to UK now a good idea? - antipolish prejudice of the Brits [231]

Sure, let's go back to the days of Casimir the Great.

Someone more cynical would say that the reason why Casimir granted my compatriots his protection had quite a bit to do with a certain raven haired beauty named Esther whom he met in a tavern her daddy ran and then had a decade or two long tryst with ( because apart from being a good king Casimir was also a horny old goat ).

Other than that - sure Poland had ( keyword - had ) a proud history of tolerance in the period that was called "The Dark Ages".

Unfortunately Poland is also the country that formally kicked Polish citizens with a Hebrew background out, stole our property and so forth. So I'm not sure whether the whole "we're so tolerant, look at Jews" thing applies anymore.

This isn't really relevant in the matter though because if, for some odd reason, 1-2 million Brits came to Poland and started to apply for local jobs here I'm pretty sure there'd be a huge pandemonium and Jarek Kaczynski would get like +20% in the polls simply by saying "Let's kick them out".

So let's keep this one real people.

Love / Indian wife wants divorce from her Polish husband just after two months. [52]

Assuming that Rita's marriage is a true bona fide union...

This one really does sound like a business deal gone sour.

Other than that I don't think there's a lot of "cultural" differences, it is not like Indian husbands don't expect to be pampered by wifey dear.

Law / Marriage in Poland - what are the procedures exactly including costs approximately? [9]

If you don't know the answer, do not go to the beyond of the topic please.

Or what?

Seriously, cry me a river.

If you're Turkish/Kurdish chances are you'll be on a Ryanair to London 10 days into your honeymoon, because marrying or fake-marrying some tart from Eastern Europe has become a favourite way of "becoming legal" in Europe for you boys.

I have a temporary residence card, and renewing it every year

Which will not get renewed after you're done with your studies, as you're well aware. Unless you, I dunno, get married to stay legally.

Europe has enough problems with immigrants leeching off our social benefits.

Please do not make any comment like " do you want to marry to move to those countries? " Even i should get visa or not we will marry. I want to learn the procedures. I wish people here to be helpful. Also I may move where ever I want, i dont have any economical problems

You know that the fact that you bring it up all by yourself without anyone even asking makes it quite certain it isn't really true? :-)

Study / Information Needed: Skarbek University, Warsaw. [57]

and there also they check your permit of work ..

Yes, quite cheeky on part of the Polish employers, to actually expect a foreigner to have a valid work permit.

There should be a complaint office in India that deals with such stuff.
