Life / Alcohol problems of Polish people [141]

it was said that this guy is mentally challenged not drunk

Who isn't mentally challenged when he is drunk? ;)

I don't believe in that story (slow movements, lousy coordination, coal mine worker?). But I'm willing to reconsider:)

Where did you get that information?

Communists are now guilty for many things, but for alcoholism they are surely not.

maybe type of drink, vodka?

(with happy consequences for the Frauleins later).

I heard those stories from old people from Vojvodina.
In the trucks to nowhere.

Anyway Russians are quite fearless without vodka I think, although I didn't meet many who were not drunk or drugged. I spent one month with Russians who were mostly young artists, so I probably had inadequate sample. I felt like I'm in Bulgakov's novel. Super interesting nightmare.

It seems that they developed some tolerance to those substances because most of them even when heavily intoxicated had capacities to think quite clear.
One guy told me that his professor in directing school asked him will he ever have an opportunity to meet him at least half conscious. He finished 2 faculties with psychoactive substances in his blood.

I ran away, I couldn't manage that pressure to intoxicate myself.
But it was the time of my life anyway. Great experience.

Amazing people.

Life / Poles - what other nationality would you say you are most like? [125]

A Greek, lecturing people on dishonesty, stealing and economy - PRICELESS :-)

Torq were you ever in Greece?
You are showing now that you don't have a problem to believe in simplest and dumbest stereotype about Greeks there is.

Macro level, economy
Think.
Who are the biggest thieves on this planet?

Micro level, honesty and stealing
I would advice you to question your prejudices using contact and experience with greek ppl.
They are really nice and honest.
At least those I had a pleasure to meet during a month I spent there.

Love / Are Polish and Slavic men perhaps a little bit insecure sometimes? [113]

Next destination Belgrade.

Not possible. Her narrative is a no no here. Disqualifying.
After pulling investment from talking to just looking stunning, she would be taken as a serious mating partner. Selection is very strict here.

Belgrade sex/ relationship guide:

Musts:

1. 170-180 cm tall (175 is preferable)
2. good legs and rear part
3. slim and fit
4. silent
5. pretty
6. good hair (long)
7. always styled for covers of a decent family type magazines (make up, but not too visible, she has to look like she made herself look like that in 5 min, while actually army of beauty experts were running around her for hours)

8. acting joy while in a submissive role
9. age 25-28

Basically she has to look like high profile (well educated) prostitute who is still a virgin. I don't know how they manage that here, but it's common.

Not allowed:

1. big boobs (considered primitive, good for f*ck , but not considered as a serious option)
2. hint of feminism
3. too much talking, being well informed, but not to loud about it
4. sex or petting on the first date, she has to pretend she doesn't want it at all, and never had it before (basically she has to burn out till his first move, usually a week or two)

5. talking about previous relationships is ending communication, for eternity
6. she can not complain when he is staring at other women in her presence

If all requirements are fulfilled she can choose.
If something is missing then she will get a lousier exemplar.

They know (and have) very efficient ways (and means) of calming upset and unsatisfied women ;)

Crow can make corrections if necessary.

Love / Are Polish and Slavic men perhaps a little bit insecure sometimes? [113]

I see you stole my list.

I see that Balkan has one list.

allow big boobs

Big boobs and nice lower back with good legs are in negative correlation.
Women bodies can have only one center of mass.

"The center of mass or mass center is the mean location of all the mass in a system. In the case of a rigid body, the position of the center of mass is fixed in relation to the body. In the case of a loose distribution of masses ...."

This loose distribution is again a NO NO!

sex on the first date

I understand. There is no second date, so this rule had to be removed;)

I forgot one thing, she has to be skilled in all sexual disciplines (previous experience with 3 to 5 partners who's names will never be mentioned).

More than 5, 6 is called a "walking disease (carrier of STD's)", less than 3 " piece of wood, meadow (passive)," etc.

I have to say after doing all on the list they are very grateful and rewards are generous and frequent.

Serbs have, thanks to international isolation, succeeded in slowing down the deconstruction of male/female roles.
So, for women who crave for a dominant over self confident macho good looking guys Belgrade is still a good choice.
No insecurity here.

After those pics nobody will read what I wrote:(

Life / How Long Before Poland Has Its 'Dumbest Generation'? [84]

I suggest you look at some IQ studies done for nationalism, economic state, and race to see Poland's ranking. You might also want to look into my colleague Richard Lynn.

"...Intelligence is always measured relative to a particular culture; "culture free" tests of intelligence do not exist...."
Every psychologist knows that fact. Medical professionals don't know sh1t about creation, usage and possible interpretation of any IQ tests and results that exist and shouldn't deal with something they are not educated for.

Mister Lynn didn't invent anything new, those eugenic psychologists were babbling before about same things. Richard Lynn just follows those...

schonemann.de/eugenics.html

Scientific community sees that as an abuse of science for more political goals (usually it's about supremacy of white race, right wing).

Maybe it is like that, but because it was proven that even MENSA test is failing on city /village as culture free test (also the other like Raven's progressive matrices, Lynn I think is using, or some type of it), today with instruments that are available it is still NOT POSSIBLE to make those conclusions (you can but it has nothing to do with science;)).

psychologicaltesting.com/iqtest.htm

It's already getting boring. Comparisons between cultures ARE NOT POSSIBLE.

Read the article, it's about most reliable and used IQ test in clinical practice.

Each country has it's form of Wechsler's tests (similar, but in few subscales different Q's, and after standardization different norms) so questions are different in Serbia and f.e. Germany. I had an American guy who came for testing, he was raised in USA (born in Serbian family that migrated), spoke Serbian enough to communicate but I couldn't use Serbian version of test, or Serbian norms to categorize him, because he was raised in a different culture, and he can only be compared to his American, not Serbian peers. If I was like Lynn I could say using Serbian norms that he had borderline intelligence, but he didn't, he was compared to Americans (test has different questions) guy with the average IQ.

That is how it is supposed to be done.

COMPARING WITHIN A CULTURE HE STEMS FROM AND WITH PEOPLE OF HIS AGE. THAT IS THE DEFINITION OF IQ.

IQ is real stuff. It has to do with academic intelligence. When I was in Germany I felt that Germans had high IQ on average much higher than Greeks. In Sweden they have a bit lower IQ than Germans,in Netherlands they have the same but Italians are definitely dumber. The same French did not impress me.Poles have obviously high IQ but lack in practical common sense

that is your personal observation, i guess?

It has again nothing to do with the fact that today it is IMPOSSIBLE with tests that exist to make those comparisons.

Or you know some test I'm not aware of?

different cultures value different skills, or competences. In western societies skills that are related to technological field are higher ranked than f.e. social skills.

Most of the tests originate from West, and you are using that as a measurement too. It's one of the many possibilities, it has to do with culture that's directing ppl to develop different for that community important skills.

I noticed that Russians f.e. value verbal skills more and creativeness (which is not measured in those tests at all), so their more successful ppl are good at that f.e.

Life / How Long Before Poland Has Its 'Dumbest Generation'? [84]

IQ exists. It is like physical power.

Perfectly wrong.
What are you measuring? What power, where is it, what is it depending on, how much of that concept is given by nature, how much is developed, and what are the consequences of having some IQ score in your personal achievements?

and say that IQ tests only measure your ability to complete IQ tests. ie they measure nothing significant.

I said the same thing in some previous posts.
The best operational definition of IQ is that is the thing IQ instruments are measuring. The end.
It's a sh1tty and pretty empty concept. Based solely on comparison beetween people your age in your culture. that number is giving just your position in your age group in your country, where instrument was previously standardized.

If they were measuring intelligence why does IQ get recalibrated every decade or so.

I know that, learned that in studies.

Look above. there are few explanations for that, but for me it's one more proof not to take it to seriously.

Southern, to me it looks like you are putting the equal sign between brightness and IQ. They are different. One is an amateur concept, we all feel that some people are smart, but what will the instrument say can be problematic because it includes knowledge we got through education, so person who maybe ( not measurable still) has better given abilities will score less than somebody educated and maybe not so fast in processing inf.

How much is persons IQ depending on early development circumstances, how much on biological traits?
It's a thin ice, nobody can give you solid answer still.

GIVE UP IQ!

I also agree with Southern that IQ is a valid concept, while remaining agnostic about IQ testing methods.

Without being at least a little bit familiar with the instruments, you don't have basis for supporting the concept of IQ.
Again, the score is showing your position within your age gruop in your country. That' s it.

There are many theories of intelligence, what is it made of, it's all more or less bla, bla.

We all have our implicit theories of what it is, so don't hold on just to the official story.

We can all share here our ideas about what it is, but it doesn't have anything to do with IQ from scientific standpoint, as it is conceptualized and used now.

Life / How Long Before Poland Has Its 'Dumbest Generation'? [84]

Natasa, I know what you're saying, but there's a huge difference between saying that no such thing as "intelligence quota" exists, and saying that such a thing does exist but that it is beyond human capability to absolutely measure it accurately and fairly.

I'm using IQ tests, but taking results with caution.
It is useful for what and how it was made, again comparing ppl same age, same culture. Those instruments were not made to do anything MORE than that, and they can't do more. Still.

So, my basic complain here is abuse of it, using the instruments for purposes they were not made for.

I believe there is some biological foundation, some environmental (family) influence, education influence, and so on.

People here are trying to use some EXACT measures ( like IQ 78, IQ 150) comparing for example Chinese with Albanians in a way it is not possible yet. It's not a measure like meter or kilogram.

That is the problem.
Also, because of the fact that underprivileged ppl, born in families with low incomes, hence less close to good education will score less and maybe they have more potential than most, I don't have high opinion about whole idea.

It's helping the system in a way that those who are on the bottom keeps there, privileged ones getting again via organizations like MENSA or obligatory testing again more.

Hey good example are test for job applicants, if HR takes the score as a unquestionable measure of abilities he will maybe miss hiring somebody who scored less because of bad life circumstances , but who could be faster learning and more valuable worker.

Life / How Long Before Poland Has Its 'Dumbest Generation'? [84]

It is easy to separate from cultural background.Take black children for example who were adopted by white parents.Their IQ continued to be low in the same levels with the average of black children raised by black parents. So it is genes which determine intelligence a truth that teachers know very well.

Contra arguments:

1.Studies dealing with kids raised together in institution are suggesting there are no interracial differences. Kids who's parents were caribic black or white showed that average IQ at age 4 was 103 for white kids, 106 for mixed kids, 108 for kids with both black parents.

2. If gens would be the main factor of interracial differences then kids who have one Caucasian and on African A as a parent would score same. Kids whose mother is white , father black had in average 9 points more than kids who's mothers were AfAm and fathers white. Explanation for discrepancy is that white mothers usually are providing more stimulative (better educated) environment than AfAm mothers.

3. Flynn, 1980, studied the IQ of few hundreds of German kids who's fathers were African americans and white American soldiers stationed in Germany. Average IQ for both groups is same (97), suggesting that race is not contributing to IQ.

4. Study from Scarr, 1977, dealing with proportion of european gens in African American population (as a result of mixing with white Ams) done in Philadelphia , 3000 kids participated, showed that relative proportion of white gens is not correlated at all with IQ, no differences found.

5. African american kids that were categorized high IQ using number showed that those kids had LESS white ancestors than general AA population who scored less on IQ test.

Those things are shifting responsibility for found differences from gens to environmental factors who seem to be more relevant for developing skills IQ tests are measuring.

it's not that simple to distinguish how much that quite small difference is a result of bad environmental factors, and how much it's a genetic thing.

It's true they are scoring in average 10 points less (which is quite small number btw.), but it's probable that differences are caused by life experiences rather than gens (for decades African american kids were raised in poor families, abandoned by fathers, with lousy education possibilities, in criminal neighborhoods)

I wonder what is the average IQ of people who judge others on IQ?

everybody is doing that. so i guess it's 100 ;)

So it is a biological quality. It has social consequences.Tell me the IQ of a 15 year old and I can predict his success in standardized tests he will take 3 years later.

what IQ tests are measuring is not biological quality, it is persons achievement in tests compared to his peers in area test is standardized for, that's partially caused also hopefully by biological intelligence we still don't know where at all is, and what it is, also what is it depending on (genes, which ones?, nurture, early development).

they are hoping that is in the background, causing all those differences.
but it's never just that hypothetical biological in the background, environmental factors are not questionable in psychometric intelligence or IQ.

Yes, of course you can predict it. Everybody can, it's since childhood quite unchangeable.
What was your point here?

If you want to enter the US army you have to have an IQ lower than 110 and higher than 90.All these black and white populations in the army belong in the same range regarding the IQ.I am surprised how you don't know that. This is a biased argument.

If we use your argument, that there is something wrong with black genes we can also assume that IQ of black soldiers was improved through education, so basically black people who are in US army are scoring 100, but thanks to good environment, while white people with better genome were lazy at school and because of that were equal with black ones.

So, next generation of german-american black and white kids had to show some inherent differences, stemming directly from genes ;)

Irrelevant. You don't know the IQ of the parents. You don't know if black or white IQ genes are dominant and will express themselves more in combination.

It looks like a quite simplistic idea about the way intelligence is passing from generation to generation, it's surely not like color of eyes, probably polygenic not only one is responsible.

Why would white or black be dominant? What is the connection between color of their skin and genes for biological I, so you think that those two things are related at all?

is there a proof for that statement, i don't know for it?

Again you don't know which genes are dominant. If black genes are dominant then no matter how many white mix one has,his IQ will be low(black). You have to know the pattern.

Again why would genes for black or white skin have to be related to genes for intelligence.
What genes, what is their connection with genes for assumed Biological Intelligence.

IQ is not just biological quality. We all here know that very well.

News / Human Trafficking in and from Poland [80]

The problem is the demand, the Johns who create the demand and pay the money

Sweden has decided to legally persecute only Johns and decriminalize women involved.
It is, as I understood, for now the most efficient way to fight human trafficking.
Reduced demand (with even prison as a punishment ) proved to be really bad for the street prostitution (street prostitution reduced up to 80%, somebody should check this..)

You shouldn't have sympathy for them, it's a job, and a well paying one at that.

researches i saw stated that most of them have severe existential problems, minority is in that because they really like their jobs (on global level, there are differences of course).

Their life stories are really sad.
Of course, there are examples that don't provoke any sympathies..

They don't like their jobs, they do it because the money is good. Those kids flipping burgers don't exactly like their jobs either :)

I had similar ideas to yours, then I had to do some work on prostitution and facts were convincing....
Starting point is usually existential problem, like with those who are flipping burgers, but they are usually coming from countries which are not allowing you even physical survival with that kind of job (150 euro per month?).

"Sexual trafficking includes coercing a migrant into a sexual act as a condition of allowing or arranging the migration. Sexual trafficking uses physical coercion, deception and bondage incurred through forced debt. Trafficked women and children, for instance, are often promised work in the domestic or service industry, but instead are usually taken to brothels where their passports and other identification papers are confiscated. They may be beaten or locked up and promised their freedom only after earning – through prostitution – their purchase price, as well as their travel and visa costs.

The main motive of a woman (in some cases an underage girl) to accept an offer from a trafficker is better financial opportunities for herself or her family. In many cases traffickers initially offer ‘legitimate’ work or the promise of an opportunity to study. The main types of work offered are in the catering and hotel industry, in bars and clubs, modeling contracts, or au pair work. Traffickers sometimes use offers of marriage, threats, intimidation and kidnapping as means of obtaining victims. In the majority of cases, the women end up in prostitution. Also some (migrating) prostitutes become victims of human trafficking. Some women know they will be working as prostitutes, but they have an inaccurate view of the circumstances and the conditions of the work in their country of destination."

it's from wiki, i don't have here those researches :S

After that, there is no way back.

In some countries situation is less problematic, so in a bigger percentage women who are doing that are in that just for money like you think, so you are right there...

unfortunately on global level, those women constitute a minority

I didn't say it does. I clearly made a difference between those who are forced this or that way into this, and the others you are talking about who had a choice.

Trafficking ends often in prostitution, so there is causal relation between two.

You had certain prostitution type in mind, I had the most frequent type, what George 4 digits was posting about.

Motives of women you are mentioning are for debate. Burgers are applicable and maybe desirable there ;)

Is this OK for you now?

Russians I met were constantly giving interpretation of accidental events (for example, if a woman asks us where pushkins museum is and we were going that way, that is sure sign that things don't happen without reason, and that we made a good choice).

My surrounding believes in nihil like me.
Communism and science killed God.
Slobodan M. & West politicians Inc. Ltd. during 90 is killed belief in fate, because with that belief we would all give up and commit mass suicide.

We were left with biology and it's ways.
So, we believe in sex.
Things happen because of sex, that's a primary explanatory principle. Events are determined by quality and quantity of sex.

That couldn't be more generalizing and stereotypical.

That was ironical.
You shouldn't take everything written here so serious.
Anyway, because I can feel your breath behind my back here (IP situation), I will try to give you a semi serious answer.

There are no stereotypes and generalizations in that people around me don't believe in god and fate, we chose each other because we have similar beliefs.

Then I explained why we don't believe in anything.... and what shaped our ideas.

Sex is the best :)) I don't have to clarify or elaborate that I hope ;)
Personal goals differ from person to person, so people have a choice to pick up their credo, no?

If you believe that along with quality then I hope you're not referring to fascist ideals of eugenics, genetic valuing and so forth.

Yes, if you didn't notice that before I'm the leader of Eugenic movement on PF. The president, CEO.

Yes, Hitler and I have similar views on human sexuality (among many other similar ideas).
One of those is that German and Slavic people should be in relation of subordination and superordination, small discrepancy is in only in the idea who has the role of the Herren Menschen. ;) ;) ;) ;) (100 winks here, just to prevent wrong conclusions)

Polonia / Is it possible to meet a Polish female in Dubai? I'm looking for fun. [45]

From what i have heard from my male friends, Ukraine is the promised land.
One of them, very curious about women and travels a lot, was comparing sexual experiences he had around the globe, and narrowed the list of the best to two countries, I think it was Colombia (he said that Latino girls are very sensual, submissive and behaving like they are in love) and Ukraine. Both were girls for 2, 3 nights, but he had a crush on Ukrainian girl called Lena (I heard her name 100 times with many different intonations), who was married. I don't have a clue what are they doing, but they have a reputation.

My friend covered his eyes with his hands and said, I lived like this, thinking I know what good sex is, then putting down one hand he said this was a BJ from Lena, and when he put down the other hand he said this is sex with her, NOW I can see. He had sex on all continents, he is not a picky type...

Ukraine was the best. WHY?

News / Human Trafficking in and from Poland [80]

Countries that decriminalized prostitution actually had as an effect raise of human trafficking, so for the owners of the brothels and those involved in trafficking it was a good thing to do, they always find a way to use law, or bypass it , women had more or less nothing of that.

"Legalization and/or regulation of prostitution, according to the study, led to:

*
A dramatic increase in all facets of the sex industry,
*
A dramatic increase in the involvement of organized crime in the sex industry,
*
A dramatic increase in child prostitution,
*
An explosion in the number of foreign women and girls trafficked into the region, and
*
Indications of an increase in violence against women.

In the state of Victoria, Australia, where a system of legalized, regulated brothels was established, there was such an explosion in the number of brothels that it immediately overwhelmed the system's ability to regulate them, and just as quickly these brothels became a mire of organized crime, corruption, and related crimes. In addition, surveys of the prostitutes working under systems of legalization and regulation find that the prostitutes themselves continue to feel coerced, forced, and unsafe in the business."

prostitution.procon.org/view.resource.php?resourceID=000772

Link with lists of countries and their way to regulate prostitution (illegal, partially legal, legal)

As for being a role models for the kids, I think that story is finished. Women involved in pûrnography are now completely legitimate successful entrepreneurs, they are even writers.

I read Jenna Jamison's master piece just to see what does she have to say to the world.
Sad story. At the same time Tracy Lords published her memoirs. I didn't have time to read that too, but ambitious young girls will find wisdom there or many useful "how to" s.

Actually Europe, Italy had that before with Cicciolina who was elected as a representative in Italian parliament. (Teresa Orlowski in Germany also tried to present herself as serious actress, but she didn't make it, so she is now just a successful producer) I think that regardless to that fact Italians saw Cicciolina just as a pûrnography star, so her position in Italian society was quite clear, not like status of the girls in USA who are presented as some kind of real show biz stars. (way to go girls;))

It is becoming mainstream if it's not already.

There are two big bookshop chains in Belgrade, above mentioned writers were very exposed after publishing, so i couldn't miss it.

I bought the book honestly more out of personal curiosity, I thought that somebody wrote that instead of them (probably true) so that I will find inside some romantic description of mechanisms that regulate the industry, but when I started reading it, it looked mostly like her honest confession about her life.

There were her inner world should be, was a great dark hole.
It was really sad.
My impression was just emptiness.
I never heard from anybody anything similar to her description of the world.
Too simple and without any meaningful content (affects?).

I think guys in the late 30 is, married and bored to death were the best buyers of those books, they spent their youth watching movies with Tracy lords. My guess is that some kind of mixture of nostalgia and bedroom boredom was primary motive for that purchase (at least here). I think they were very disappointed ;)
