Indeed women are in average lousier than men in logical reasoning. They have better verbal abilities in average than men.

That is what empirical studies say.

When it comes to average female vs average male intelligence, although commons sense somehow suggests that men are in average higher scorers, studies about it a rare, political correctness seems stands in a way. I don't have an excess to a large database of IQ tests one of my professors collected through the years, but I'll try to get something about it.

Those studies I saw so far, usually state that there is a tendency in certain life periods for boys to have higher scores, but it is usually stated that the difference is not statistically significant. P values are higher, tests statistics are not showing extreme differences.

Elena, I am not Polish and Serbs in general like Romanians. Vlad Tepes :)) We are the only two neighboring nations that never had conflict, which is for Balkans bordering surreal.

Romanians have the most positive stereotype about Serbs as well in the area, with Greeks, I am familiar with research on that topic. OK Greeks are our allies for eternity and we share some blood and love for blood ;)

In one period, immediately after Ceausescu was overthrown which was covered and helped by Belgrade TV and its crew who was informing the rest of the world, Romania suffered a lot, and there was a short period when poverty and the possible ways to cope were only few, so I think that labeling of Romanians as a thieves, prostitutes occurred then. In that period I also heard in one part of Vojvodina (north Serbia) that they called Romanians - Banat gypsies. Whaaaaat? Thefts were really skyrocketing after 1990, but it was a momentum. Nothing else.

One of my mom's friends boyfriends is a guy who was until recently a leading ballet dancer of our National theater, he is Romanian who moved from Romania to Belgrade after Ceausescu's free fall more than 2 decades ago, because of love for the 20 years older woman (mom's friend), he is rarely talented, bright and funny man. Simply lovable.

He smokes two packs a day, and dances 4 h. not destroyable. I like him a lot. His stories about his early life in Bucharest are material for stand up comedy.

Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Montenegrian, that is already 4 :) I can understand Macedonian, and few words of SLovenian.

OK, seriously average Russian, English, German, basic Spanish. I am illiterate.

I was typical math and physics type, not verbal. Orality is not my stronger side.

I have problem to be precise, concise and relevant. So in person, I tend to count more than to talk.

I haven't heard that often that shamefulness is desirable in clinch situations.

Even though some might have concluded differently, I also don't have problem with shame :)

I was taught to be shameless :) during my therapeutical education by educators and to make people feel replace the shame with healthy emotion *....?... There is a behavioral exercise we all had to perform in the middle of the busiest walking street in the center of Belgrade, where we were given tasks that should evoke shame, like saying to random people Good afternoon, singing loudly something standing alone, while the rest of the group was watching from the safe distance if the educant is performing what was told.

i chose to read loudly, actually to yell the prologue from the book I had in my bag, it was Nietzsche's Antichrist, standing alone and my group was watching me. The point was to see that nothing happens if you behave oddly, not in accord with social expectations, like people believe. Mostly people passed by not seeing me or hearing at all, but one listened and thought I am one of Jehova's witnesses :) There were two guys who were trying to match my appearance with my behavior, mid 20s, but the feeling their attention evoked wasn't shame. I was close to end the educational process;)

*Shame is according to Cognitive therapies (US origins and development, all of them) one of dysfunctional emotions (causing disproportional suffering, longer lasting, leading to lousy behavioral performance, based on irrational beliefs), its healthy analog is dissatisfaction or disappointment (related to social evaluation). In the category of dysfunctional emotions are also guilt, anger, depressive mood, anxiety, unhealthy jealousy and unhealthy envy. From what I had the pleasure to observe that guilt is often transformed into spite, resistance, silent but harsh disobedience of rules by redefinition, using semantic ambiguities (interpretations of word sex:))

Catholic believers close to me, Croats, that are under serious pressure, tend to behave kinkier (i.e., having sex in the church ), than atheists or Orthodox where sex in the Church is not forbidden. Normally. It is part of the dogma ;)

People tend to have the biggest difficulties coping with the guilt (we all know it is one b1tchy feeling, interiorized parents and society via parents), they rather choose risk to feel shame or really face public punishment that provides relief (caught red- handed:))


You are right about Slavs I got the chance to know better, slavic women tend to prefer known, offered submissive role that triggers passive aggressive behavior (covert power games). It is utterly boring to be observant of the dynamics between those couples.

logorrheic eyes meant in that story that I had problem to hide my honest, yet good intentions at the moment when I saw that uberhandsome portiere, and that my facial expression sincerity was overwhelming, it is rare which proved later to serve well for establishing rapport with people I professionally meet that requires honesty - congruent one, verbal message has to match the message given by other non verbal communication channels (paralinguistic, facial, posture, gestures) so who meets me in person is quite convinced in what was verbalized and sure that I am not engaging into double- bind communication.

I thought a bit about last night's brothel post and linked it to something my mother suggested yesterday to me, to change the mentor (some she mentor problems) telling me that I have male psychology and type of abilities, that I am reasoning more like a man than a woman, basically ...wait...did she say that I am some sort of man trapped in female body?!
